I may cry, ruining my makeup
Wash away all the things you've taken
And I don't care if I don't look pretty
Big girls cry when their hearts are breaking
Big girls cry when their hearts are breaking
Big girls cry when their heart is breaking

It had been so long...so long since she felt the sweet comforts of her whole family around her, now a days she was fortunate for the company of at least one of her family members. That was a blessing, truly...and although her life had been cursed with a series of tragedy and hardships; oh was she blessed. She was allowed not only a mate to call her own, but two sets of amazing children, even if their beginnings had been tainted with such darkness. The cursed Angeni, Nimue, laid near an ant hill; watching the small creatures scurry about their busy lives. If anything, it showed her how dull her life was, Ezriel had been gone for some time on important business....business which with her limited sanity she'd forgotten long ago.

She'd remembered fondly the first time Airlia had come home, bringing with her those sweet foals of hers with that dashing young stallion. Both misfits in the kindest means, oh how her daughter loved him so, love she'd only come to see for herself after losing her as a foal for so long. Lost in the depths of her sins, passed on so unfairly to those she loved the most. Nimue had never again seen traces of Sabriel and Gabriel, the night she had run away was the last of that life's chapter till Airlia came back into her world. Yet....even though her heart would ache for them...she still had more to cry about. Word that Numi was always well taken care of back in her new herd lands warmed the mares heart, through the tragedy that seemed to strike at every turn it seemed to spare the sweetest of her children. Ennuiel, always so busy, it had been ages since she'd seen her as well. Then Minuet, dear Minuet. She'd been her mother's keeper, taking shifts with Airlia till news of Sapphire had come to be. That poor dear...she reminded her so much of Numielle, lost in her kind world in her head; it had torn not only Airlia, but all of them to lose such a precious. Nimue wasn't in any position to pray for anything, but nightly she did, pleaded, begged of any god willing to listen to not let the sins of her past haunt the happiness of her family - to let Sapphire be alive and alright after all the time.

Yet....she was sure no one would be willing to listen to her silent cries.

Minuet had been gone for a few days now, she had a lead on someone who could be Sapphire and had gone to investigate as she always did. Nimue knew though it wasn't entirely true - it seemed she'd gotten involved with a stallion....an "Infuriating, thick headed dolt" if she remembered....in essence, someone eerily like her. While Minuet's words were harsh, her eyes had been so soft thinking of him.

See? Nimue was so blessed.

If only her sins hadn't caused so much pain...

"Anty-ants....squiiissshhhhh." Nimue brought her hoof down, digging it into the ground where a number of ants had been marching. The ones which escaped her hoof scattered quickly. Distant eyes through her skull mask watched with a lazy stare, lifting her head to the setting skies and let out a breath; long black tendrils cascading down her ivory pelt.

"Nimue....is so lonely." The mare said to no one, per usual. At least the gentle echo of her own voice made the silence a little more comforting.

Home. Home was close.

It had been ages since she'd been back, but Airlia knew the route like her own hooves. Her body had been badly wounded from her showdown against Raven, that conniving sadistic b***h. Airlia couldn't believe she was out there somewhere...living, probably plotting her revenge as she made her way here. Truly though, it was somewhat of a twisted miracle she was even trying to make her way home right now. Through some fate she'd come across Tsaphiel, younger brother to her father, Reaper. She'd been nursed back to health...but as much as she wanted to stay and learn a little more about that side of her family...she had more pressing matters to attend to. As he said, she had the backing of his - or their family. They would help to end the life who had taken nearly everything from her grasp.

Airlia felt her breath hitch once more, burning tears coming to her vision.

Her whole family...at this point she couldn't even be certain if any of them were alive. It had been so long since they started looking for sweet Sapphire; her demented little darling. Yet they should have looked as a group....her two sons...dropped off the face of the earth. Her Cobalt....her love...well, she didn't know what to believe. So much blood, too much for a happy ending.

Airlia was stripped of her entire family, and in an instance her family had almost been stripped of her. The mare realized her suicidal attack had been foolish, despite how dearly the shattered pieces of her broken heart screamed for revenge. She'd almost lost her life without heed that she wouldn't take Raven with her...a fate unacceptable for her. Raven would die, even if she had to go with her, she'd pay for the unfathomable sins she'd brought down on Airlia's beloved family. She would spend the rest of her life hunting and in the end, killing the mare. It was her vow...the very least she could do for them.

She could see the stark brilliance of her mother on the dirt as she approached; thick blood long dried to her fur. Her wounds were still crusted and aching, but thanks to the quick actions of Tsaphiel she'd cheated death.

Standing weakly as it had been a hell of a walk, the mare cast her blood eyes on her mother; she'd not even been able to feed at all to replenish herself and looked ready to collapse at the lightest of breezes. "Mother..." She breathed, a rasp to her voice giving away all the pain she held in. A small smile graced lips usually reserved for a scowl or snarl, closing her eyes as her body gave a sway. "I'm home..."

Finally, a few of those angry tears began to roll down her cheeks; feeling the strength she had prior to lock away the soul shattering emotions waging war in her dissipate into thin air.
