Most of March and April, Thraen's patrols had turned up almost nothing but Youma. When he found them, he dusted them without mercy or hesitation. The few times he caught the edges of a more substantial aura of Chaos, it fled. The tendency had been towards basic levels, so they'd probably powered down to avoid the approach of an eternal. Tonight had been the same- the feel of a Lieutenant near the University Botanical Gardens had quickly vanished as he'd powered up not far away and immediately moved to intercept the offending presence. Maybe it will serve to teach the source not to appear on the grounds of the University. Would that the presence and guardianship of eternal senshi was enough to safeguard more than a single location of a single city for a single night. Thraen crouched to scoop up a handful of cherry blossoms from one of the flagged walkways towards the experimental greenhouses. They matched, the way any bloom or plant tended to match his uniform. The coming of spring was a boon for visual camouflage in the parks and gardens. The eternal stood, suddenly and straight, some of the petals from his own headress floating past his face. There was an aura come near enough to feel. That. Is a general. Flame eyes narrowed then widened in the dim to scan for any glimpse of the new target- glimmer of weapon or fold of uniform. Sleet Tempest Snape Sorry this took so long to put up!

No weapon was out, no need or such, as the darkly dressed General moved through the shadows of the campus grounds. He had spent the evening on campus in the library and had decided to gather some energy whilst here, before going home. As much as his loyalty might be lacking he still had duties to fulfill and a cover to maintain, thus the duties were to be fulfilled. He wasn't about to risk his position, his true position, any more than he had to.
Moving swiftly through the darkness, walking on tip toe, the coat and cape he wore fluttered behind him as they made a soft sound as he moved. He could sense someone, an eternal senshi, but he didn't fear it. he had been in enough fights and he couldn't see them so what proof was there that they'd come for him? As far as he figured he was safe-ish right now.
With an orb of energy already tucked into his pocket, the owner of said energy tucked away inside a building, he was content to lazily find his next "victim" and grab some more energy.(It's alright. How are you doing ivy?)

A moment more proved the other was moving, and gave a trajectory. The Eternal of Gardens shifted from still as the near trees to movement rapid and fluid as the small waterway beyond the cedar fence in the alumni-donated tea garden. The cherry blossoms faded to the dark, replaced with less ornamental trees in the starts of spring bud, the close of other buildings full of classrooms. The gardens were sad to leave, but hunt reserved no sentimentality. What he lacked, with the stone soles of his boots, was much of any stealth- Thraen's footfalls were sure and swift, but not stealthy. Stealth only avails so much in a game of auras and enemies who can teleport. Still no visual. But he'd closed the distance. The Chaos aura hadn't vanished, hadn't retreated, and the epicenter was near enough that they were both overlapped. Thraen stopped on the pedestal to some mostly ignored equestian statue, putting his hand to the proud cast-bronze neck of the charger. He called, expression stoney, to the dark at a volume projected as though at a madrigal dinner for many tens of guests, "Make yourself known, General!" They may do so with a swift stroke of attack. Muscles twitched lightly, ready to dodge.

Well, it seemed the senshi wanted something from him tonight. They had come closer, right on top of him even, but he kept to the darkest of shadows. Leaning against the back of a tree, arms crossed, and his head tipped back he smiled slightly. Should he let them see him? Should he remain where he was and let them find him? His gloved right fingers tapped against his left bicep as he pondered what to do, to step out or not.
It seemed that his choice was going to be made or him, they were calling him out. Rolling away from the tree, a graceful movement, he came out from behind the tree and slowly stepped out o the shadows. "Well, well what an interesting senshi." Slate eyes glancing them up and down while he brought his right hand up to brush his loose hair from his face.
"To what do I owe the call out?" He questioned casually as he stepped toward the senshi and the pedestal upon which they stood. He knew this senshi...but not now not in this time. Did they remember and know what he knew? There was no point in asking, even if he wanted to. He doubted they were up for talking, seeing as they were so bold as to call out an unknown General.

I remember this one The General that emerged, answering the call, was certainly smaller than what he'd been expecting. Smaller, younger, slighter- even with all the volume that a uniform with epaulets and a cape could add to a body. There was no weapon immediately apparent, nor youma. It was the Youma that immediately came to mind, one blue and with a mouth that split his face. And roared. From a distance of throwing an industrial barrel and the creature protected him. It was hard to gauge his size from that distance. Thraen hopped down from the statuary, still towering with his own natural height and that of his boots. My eye hurts. The same eye that had gone vessel red with burst blood the first night of surrendering to the dreams. His skin crawled under his own uniform, ghosting scars of burns and that General's blue-clad breast gone dark with staining blood. The scent of smoke. I know you. There was something important in that- it's half gone....half mad. Half death and exhaustion and half again the final sorrows swallowing of corpses. A General .... here and now. "Unwelcomed the parasite, lurking in shadows and thief of hope, dreams, and progress. You walk as willing slave to prurient consumption only, and profaned. It is not Chaos, but plague that lives in the Negaverse, and that has no place in any wholesome standing. "

His left hand found itself drifting down to his side where it attached itself and his right elbow rested against the back o the left hand, almost supported by it. The back of his right hand found itself supporting his chin as he raised a brow at the others words. A rather relaxed position, all in all, though perhaps a bit of an ego shining through as well.
Slowly he did approach the other, drawing closer, he let his left arm fall to his side so just his right hand remained up; hand supporting his chin. One finger curling up his cheek till it was fully extended. "Ahh, you say those sweet words as if they should bother or offend me. The opinions of senshi and knights mean little - they are wasted breath." Now his right hand came down and made a motion, as if gently, and only just, shooing a fly away from him. Gloves fingers, pinky and so on in order, curled inward then, his hand still raised and even with his face.
"I walk to my own little melody - I assure you. I am a slave only because I chose to remain as such...which I do believe means I am no more a slave." Not when one was plotting against the supposed master. he did some things he had to but that was to keep his cover. He didn't care to be figured out any time soon. "It would do well to not assume any thing about another, putting a person in a pre-labeled box is rather...insulting. Though I must confess to not being surprised. I will concede that the Negaverse is bad, however it is chaos...just tainted in my opinion. But the chaos factor is needed, the dark and the light, the good and the bad. It's just when the chaos is tainted that we have...well..we have what we currently have. A world where the Negaverse has conquered all but this city."

" 'Wasted Breath'. Fair enough. You offer no meaningful rhetoric. In pretenses to cheat yourself and all others of life and claim righteous or free, you show Dogmatist to position than investigating your own fallacies. You take the coin of another's manufacture, reasonable enough were it not at the expense of All. Worse then, you reckon it your own make, Master Minter. Spend then. " Thraen's own stance shifted more battle ready than before, and he started a slow slide to flank. "Words be done by your own wish. I will have the price of every trespass in the stead of the fallen. " And your unrepentant sins be told the stones I bury you under. That ...what were the words then, worlds away? Still indifferent. Still in belief of control, and a General King. One more cog in the machine, rather than tearing it down. Cannot foul already poisoned water. Delusional. Words filtered into his ears, half covered in a roar-rush of adrenaline and blood from dream-fears with no place in the waking world. 'You will win nothing wielding her blade against her. It will not cut her. ' "Find your weapon."

"No meaningful rhetoric? You state an opinion of me and to the uniform I wear and the energy which courses through me - anything else?" He questioned the other before his shook his head and smiled gently. Had the other by chance noticed how his eyes had drifted about the uniform. It was unique, without a doubt, and the flowers had gained his attention rather quickly. He was curious about them but he wasn't about to go right up to the eternal and reach out to touch them and find out himself, that might just get him hit or attacked in some manner.
"You are right, about some of what you say and yet you really don't know me, you didn't in the future and you don't now - a shame really." Tilting his head and his smile growing a bit more. "The only words I want to hear are ones without assumption, insult, and filled with ignorance of who I am. You can say as you will but that will not breath life into your words and make them so. Some may be correct or in part so. But another person never knows someone elses mind and heart completely - it is impossible." Really? Was this senshi looking for a fight? He knew he was rolling his eyes and just hoped it didn't insight things further than they already were, how so he didn't quiet know.
"Anyway I don't need a weapon to defend myself nor am I seeking a fight. Were I seeking a fight there already would be on taking place between us." He knew it was a risk, a big one, but he turned his back on the other. "Why don't you stop acting like some over eager new senshi and follow me. We can find a place away from sight and perhaps talk - less your beyond such things. My blade has not been drawn against one of your kind, nor a knight, in a good while and I don't plan to acquiesce to your request that I draw it."

"Fallacy." "Hiding behind claims of 'you don't know me' is self-centric hubris and no actual reason that you stand on moral, ethical or any ground of reason. The war, the magic, and the results of the actions are not limited to the singular. You give excuses, not reason. 'Lack of rhetoric', formal persuasion offering reasons, justifications and postulates supported by facts. What I speak of the Negaverse and it's aims is objective. If some measure of your personal aims differ from their great whole, it doesn't change that you still serve their aims patrolling the city, using your abilities, the wearing of their uniform. Doing nothing, or doing little, and you take the side of the oppressor. So much is easily learned from Elie Wiesel- 'Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.' " The eye role didn't improve the impression this General made- Here stands a boy trying to fill the empty coat of a soldier. "Power-play to demand an enemy follow your demands, and they be 'child' to disagree. No, General. I will not go anywhere with you. We are enemies. If you want words with me, it will be in the open in this neutral ground of chance. Ambushes are far too common by your ilk. Best you speak quickly." I've seen you involved in the Negaverse operations. Enough to have earned rank and retribution enough, whether feel like drawing your blade or not is no stain on that judgement. "Reticence, and such declarations of personal armistice, is not repentance. Nor act of contrition. " Would that the nearness of detail, the stitching and embroider of jacket or cape, buttons and waistcoat, were not so clear to my mind. Half clear. Always halves, distorted by a lost eye and lost depth. those moments made worse by blood drowning the sight of the second from more scars that would never have a chance to set. I remember the fire under my skin got worse. All sound became white noise roar after the twisted feel of his teleportation. Acrucis was there. She was helping him. Does she know him already? Or is that stupidity yet to come? She mentioned that she knew officers long ago.

With his back to the other he listened to what was similar, he thought, to reading a classic story written in a way that was hard for most people to understand, and keep up with, but the General did get the message of the others words and found himself rolling his eyes at the Eternal senshi. "Really? hubris. How interesting but it is true - you don't know me. You don't know who I am beyond whenever you've seen me, or whatever anyone has told you about me. You may not even know me out of this uniform, though I suppose you could." Turning to look over his shoulder at the other and smile gently. "So really I'm telling the truth - you don't know me. You don't know my thoughts or actions or the reasons behind them, unless I speak them. Even then there are things about myself that I've yet to realize, as is with all people, so even I cannot speak to everything that makes me who I am." Shrugging his shoulders as he answered the other gently. He had no cause for violence here. He wasn't looking for a fight at the moment.
"Some measure?" Raising a brow he turned fully to face the other. "My whole aim differs from their goal at this point, of that I can assure you. What I've seen they are aiming for is now clear, it was not information I had any knowledge or access to and still do not. Now that I know their aims and goal I can fight against it." And he sought to do just that. He didn't plan to permit the Negaverse from continuing on their path to turning the world into some energy supplying cattle farm of sorts. It was not what he had joined for, that much he now could see. The rose glasses he'd lost before then were not just lost but shattered at this point.
Closing his eyes slowly, as the other continued on speaking, he found himself taking a few calming breaths as he allowed the senshi to continue on. He wanted to shout, to throw his hands up and perhaps rant. It was rare he actually lost his cool but he wanted to - oh did he want to.
"I would have kept the ground neutral. I didn't want this discussion in the open where anyone can happen upon us. I don't care to have my opinions leaked to my own side. For as much as you dislike the uniform I wear I do still wear it and thus I still fall under those rules and if caught speaking as I am I'll find myself in worse shape than those taken on new years. Perhaps tortured and killed, maybe made an example. Maybe they'll be nice and just kill me in front of my fellow officers. Or worse...I'll join the ranks of the youma and be tied to someone else. Though I figure, given your words, you could care less what happens because I serve the Negaverse - even if it's only just by donning this uniform and walking about at night. I needn't do anything else - right?" He questioned the other. He kept his voice as calm and even as possible, really he did, but it was hard to keep emotions from leaking through; really it was.
Finally his temper seemed to snap as, as thoughts which had been bubbling within him bubbled right over the brim. "So, at the end of the day the only way to earn your respect, to earn a kind word or thought - to earn the right to continue to draw breath would be to change sides? You would have me give up everything I am? My family, my friends, my name and memories - what makes a person who they are? You would have me become a half person? A shell?" He questioned as his voice turned cold as ice and his tone became edged with anger but beyond that, under it, was hurt. He was hurt that someone would think so little of another person, would want someone to so easily give up so much...to become no one and nothing. "If I am no longer me, if I forget who me, who I, am...then who would I be? Would I be no one? I would have no past, no family, no friends..." That was...it was anger inducing and he shook his head, running his fingers through his hair and tugging on his own ashen hair in an almost violent, certainly angry, manner.

'you do not care' It is thrown around so easily. Often I have heard it, even from Alois at the beginning. 'The real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.' "If I cared not, I would not trouble to speak. Life is precious; the broken cup may be repaired with gold, but still it bears those lines forever more. Conviction is not tender, but it cares. " The man's quickened breath and careful swallows flashed the skin of his throat, showed the taut lines of strain and muscle there just at the crest of high collars. Lines tugged at the edges of the porcelain mouth, a bow of color with too much clarity to Thraen's mind. It was a thought that would not step out from the veils of dream- why should that mouth be familiar, the curve of jaw and lines from clean cheekbones as though he'd studied them hours long and with affection. It felt old, sorrowed, lost to the quiet ache of regret never acquitted. "I ask of others no more than I ask of myself- the truth of working out the ethical principles for each to themselves and not rob them of individual responsibility . Purification is not absolution. Staying as you are, even hating your sins and orders, is not absolution. It frees your will and mind to clarity and choice unpolluted by all the indigence, rage, despair, and worse that chaos pollutes into its victims to ensure their continuance. Purification alone, or your putting down arms alone, will not bring justice to those maimed or slain, will not return to the victims of this war what has been torn from them. Victims on all sides, even as yourself. " "There is atonement- working to limit the death, destruction, maiming of minds and hopes and lives. I do ask that you end your engagement with the growth of chaos. It does have high cost, but high reward- you will not lose all that you are, but what Metallia has made you into. What is you would be allowed to flourish. The march of protections does cost identity, the loss of family and friends- but have you not said to yourself in the quiet hours how you would die to protect them? Yet now you bring that suing against their protection. " "Family..... Consider this truth...." It was unwise, but Thraen's eyes closed in dizziness. It felt like blood, liquid heat, was running down his cheek- memory. Pooling at his collar. "If you remember me, bloodied, cradled against your breast, whether dream or vision that comes in the night. You stood within chaos then, calling what I suggest too high a price. You thought to work from within as some mole, and there was no avail to it. All families then were hopeless beneath the dark. All families broken, maimed to more dark or maimed to madness. Chaos cannot swallow chaos. Service to the Mouth of Darkness does not protect doves from slaughter- it only puts off their swallowing, or turns them into black vultures themselves with no memory of what color was. " Thraen opened his eyes again, the throb behind the left sharp as a needle. "You would not be alone to face life as it came, if you chose to seek your own power from within, with true name and true Wonder. " I stood by Bischofite time and again, by death and by life.

So the other cared but not the way he wanted him to, not in what he wanted him to. This senshi wasn't like others. He could read others better and work with them, or against them, easier. Most people worked based on emotions, at least to a large extent, he found and so he could work them to his advantage. People were like that in general and it made them easy to work with. The few who were loose cannons were hard to work with - very hard due to being unpredictable but they could still be manipulated to a point - just carefully. This was all rational and a lack of emotions for him to tinker with.
He could try all he liked to play off of it, go around in circles, and keep pointing out how much the other would want someone to give up but he doubted it would work. It annoyed him, had him clenching a hand at his side, as he wanted to walk over and shake the other in the hopes or rattling some emotions free. But he didn't walk over and shake, or hit, the other like he wished to. For some reason this senshi meant more to him and he knew it connected to that future...but how? He couldn't remember just how but he knew it was a fact.
Running his fingers through his hair, tugging on the ashen strands, he tilted his head a bit as he continued to listen to and watch the other. Finally as the other brought up the future, which he desperately hoped they could keep from happening. Could he not work with this senshi, now and possibly in the future, just because he would not change sides? He hoped not. He needed this one to accept him for whatever reason, he wasn't going to question it as no answer would be provided to him.
"I remember those dreams as if they were truth...as if I felt those things - all of them." Including his own death..including the deaths of others. He woken so many nights shaking, sweaty and even crying over the future which had happened, which must be denied existence. It could not be allowed to take place. "Me having been on the other side then would not have helped, it would not have changed things then. Knowing the future now I can try and work to alter it, I have standing as a General." One of the few here in Destiny City. "I'm not looking to change sides but I am looking to change the future. I am looking for people on your side I can work with in order to take it down, to remodel it if it must be that way."
Reaching out toward the other, fingers touching the air, his fingers curled inward slowly before he let his hand drop to his side and a step was taken toward the other. "I cannot permit that future from happening - it's not why I joined. I now know the goal, likely before I did then, I have more time to plot and think of ways to work against it. Help me to prevent the future from happening..." Hopeful slate eyes watched the other, waited as if expecting the rebuff which he was sure would come. He stopped his approach and stood waiting, as if awaiting some shot to be fired and perhaps there would be - when he was rebuffed.

The gesture of the reach was overblown drama when accompanied by the words it was. "Your answer is intending to continue, boiled down, the same angle and expect a different result? You are throwing away all logic...or ignoring it? Points for not recognizing reason- Misunderstood or not understood at all the points given. Incapable of hearing or understanding. Relatedly, Mad, Incompetent, or Impaired. Disingenous, and more interested in manipulation of the situation to an end other than truth. Relatedly, lacking care about actual reasoning and selfishly inclined to own ends." Thraen's eyes narrowed where the rest of his expression remained stone. "A general has no influence. A General is only a slightly improved weapon and errand runner for the Kings and Queens. All husks worn hollow and disposable as puppets, discarded and new replacements made at need. " "Whichever of these is yours, you make the lack of road between us clear. You choose to remain, to buy your life at the expense of others, your time on the theft of energy, pain of the masses, and subjugation of all futures for your own lack. You are profane, General, and fitting to all that title claims. I leave you this night in hope that words may sink in given time. When we meet again, if it is ever so- " "Your indifference is but subterfuge for your conscience and succor for self-undulgence. In time between, I hope you better it. " The eternal of garden's backed with careful grace born from madrigal practices, walking with rolled steps without needing to turn vulnerable to an enemy. If I find, hear, learn or know of any complacency or contrivance of yours in matters of lives, corruptions, thefts and destruction I will visit them to you without hesitation. Either stupid or a snake, but no kind of ally. Not now, and not in any future dream as he is. Whoever he is.
