The day had been warm, even for the budding spring. The sun had beaten down hotly upon the stallion as he made his way up and down the rolling hills with a vengeance that rivaled the fury of the storm of the previous night. There were still lingering hints of the storm in evidence, moisture clinging to the leaves and blades of grass all around and the ground was still soft under the stallion's paws. He had wished the cool air had lingered as well as he'd crested the next hill and was hit by the full force of the sun. It was hot, hard to see, and he going was rough. He wished desperately for a breeze.
Still, he didn't mind the heat and slight discomfort. It was the start of his grand adventure, his exodus to see what the world might throw at him, and he was still in high spirits. He couldn't claim to be particularly worldly, having grown up in the safety of his family unit. That life was a little lonely for his tastes, however. A little safe. A little... boring. He couldn't abide boredom for long. He had the itch for adventure, for seeing what he could see and doing things he might never have dreamed. Much as he found his curious little family entertaining, it was long overdue for him to strike out on his own and explore a bit. He hoped they wouldn't worry too much about him. He DID, after all, leave without notice. He shrugged, dismissing it. He wasn't one for tearful goodbyes, and there would undoubtedly be tears by his departure. No, he preferred it this way. He'll return soon and let them know he's ok - after he's had some adventure.
Where the day had been warm and he'd become over warm with the exertion, the waning day was swiftly cooling. He found it refreshing and decided to pause in his journey to enjoy the sun setting. He had some time yet, the sun was only just beginning its decent towards the horizon. He enjoyed how much the days were lengthening, giving him more daylight to travel by.
He spotted a pleasant spot near a sizable lake and set off for it. The going was easy. He'd already climbed the highest hill and now it was a downhill trot to the shimmering lakefront. The water was still, glass-like and reflective in the calm air. There wasn't so much as a ripple and Asli paused to gaze a himself. He hadn't had much opportunity to look at himself and he found it an interesting sight to behold. He flicked his hair out of his eyes- or tried to; it fell back immediately. He gave up and cast his eyes upwards to watch the sky darken.

Prim spent the day at the forest's edge, pondering the meaning of life and simply watching the world around her. After all, there wasn't anything better to do that day; It was hot, and she preferred to stay in the shade. The leaves of the trees still dripped water from last night's rain. The storm had been magnificent to watch. She hadn't seen anything like it since her travels into this new land. She had also found the perfect cave to view it from.
Today though she watched the world from the trees. She was very good at being quiet and observing. She had seen several small animals scurrying about and carrying on with their business. The birds sang happily, welcoming the spring with their songs, and she had even seen a wolf pack pass by earlier that morning. She wondered what it would be like to be part of a pack, or herd, and run wild through the trees. She was still too shy to talk to many others, so all she could do was wonder.
Aside from the forest, she had observed the many soquili coming and going from the lake. She could see it in the clearing off in the distance. Since it was the warmest spring day yet, many had come to the lake to play and cool off. Prim watched them happily. Perhaps tomorrow she'd go and talk to them. The day was coming to a close now, and the clearing was deserted. Prim decided to go to the lake for a drink herself. She didn't notice the blue haired stallion coming down from the hill above. She had gotten her drink and was admiring the beautiful sunset when she noticed him.
"Oh, I didn't see anyone there." She neighed softly, blushing. She pawed at the ground, looking down, and she noticed that this stallion had paws as well. "Oh!" She exclaimed. "Another one!" Her shyness momentarily forgotten she thought to herself, 'how exciting! Oh, but I hope he's not one of those skinwalkers Vuka told me about.' A quick look at his back, where there was no pelt, told her that he wasnt. He was like her then. She smiled and glanced at his face, and blushed again. This was not how you were supposed to greet others. She tried again, "I...I mean...hello."

He had quite lost himself, his eyes following the delicate lines of the clouds barely visible in the fading sky. They were no more than wisps, hardly noticeable in the day, but now that the sun had began its descent the bits of clouds each caught and reflected the colors in different ways, creating a mosaic of oranges, yellows, and blues across the darkening sky. He was well content to gaze at this sight, reveling in the cooler air by the lake, his mind adrift in abstract thought, not focusing on anything in particular and maybe everything at once. He was in a state of exhilaration, the events of his flight from home fully hitting him in this moment of calm, his heart tripping and racing, then calming, then racing again as he fought the urge to scream in excitement - or turn and go home.
And so it was in a completely oblivious state of high-tension that his solitude was suddenly interrupted by a voice, both tranquil and serene, yet unnerving to the chaos of his thoughts. He jumped and whirled around on the source, claws gripping the ground and kicking up a bit of sand behind him. He at once felt foolish when his eyes rested on the delicate features of the mare in front of him. He couldn't help glancing down at her proclamation of "another one" and was struck silent by what he saw. Of course he had imagined he couldn't be the only one with paws. But he was the only one that he knew of. He was glad she looked away in shyness because he was certain his jaw hung on its hinges.
"Uh.. yes.. hi!" He flashed her a smile, recovering himself a bit. He kept his attention on her face, remembering how much he hated others staring at his paws. His own claws were twitching self-consciously, as though reaching for the questions he had in his heart. "My name is Asli. Asli Belrose. What's your name?" He stepped closer to her, curious about her. Where did she come from? Who was she?
