Alright my lords and ladies allow me to present to you the rules of this game. As this will be our test run for future role-plays done via the forums it might be a bumpy ride! So let's start with some ground rules that we can build upon.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN 18+ RP, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. THERE WILL BE VIOLENCE, STRONG LANGUAGE, AND SEXUAL SITUATIONS. Note I said sexual situations, not PORN. Keep it in your pants...-looking at you Squee-

General Posts:

-General conversation or "4th wall" chat should be placed between the spoiler code at the end of your post. For those that play DND this is the chat that would take place when you're not being serious on the game. For example, most of everything in this first post would go into a spoiler. Or things like "omg did you see Tiffany's dress yesterday I just wanted to hit her with my car" I don't have cars in Nalizaro, the grass would destroy them.
-General grammar and spelling is meh in my books, I'll understand for the most part what you're trying to say...but if it's really bad I'll post a temporary quote post to verify that's what you meant, or someone else will if they don't understand. Those posts will be deleted after so not to ruin story flow when reading back over, but these things happen due to tired fingers and minds.
-For the most part try to avoid quoting someone unless it's in the spoiler tag at the bottom. I will try my very hardest to give NPC's actual names so you can call them out in your posts, regrettably that means the capital will no longer be infested with Bob's.
-I understand people get busy or forget and whatnot, but checking back maybe once a day or so would be nice. We could also have scheduled meets for some fast paced days, but it's unnecessary to have it scheduled weekly, more like something we'd discuss on free time.
-If you're going to drop out of the campaign, just say so...we're pretty good at killing off characters. And if you're hoping to be sent home...well that's not how Takaku works.
-First or Third person style is acceptable but try to maintain it through all your posts.
Characters:
-Character sheets will be designed and presented to each player, they will contain your hit points and item list and I will update them when possible. Expect these sometime after the welcome room.
-Each character no matter class/race/skill starts at 100 hp. Each humanoid enemy starts at 100 hp unless otherwise specified, usually a bump in their health means an item that could bump your health. I for example have 200k health, come at me bro.
-Damage will be done based on weapon stats which we will set up during the welcome room. As Ryssa is the only one I'm 100% on weapon choice, her glaive will be a D20.
-You are Isaac, you have no encumbrance when it comes to special items. If we're talking stone statues and dragon skulls, obviously the movement of these will have to be noted in your story, if you put down the giant dragon skull and never pick it up again in your post, guess what...it's wherever you left it. I highly recommend carts or boats if you can afford it.
-Currency comes in multiple forms: Marks, Keys, and Statues. Each buys something different. Marks buy items, bribes, carts, and people. Keys are one time use to access other realms. Statues...well...that would be a spoiler.
-All characters speak "common" and understand "common"; it's like your ears have built in translators. Words that are native only to your worlds will not translate though.
Role-play/ Choice system:
-At the end of some posts I will provide multiple options. In combat I'll put something along the lines of: -Dodge -Counter -Take it. This game is being played like an RPG, each choice you select you'll roll a D20 to base how good the outcome in. Example post:
Merin waves his hand for you to approach; his subtle smile giving him a very charming expression. He locks eyes with you, gracefully moving towards you as if he were gliding across the ground. His movements are quick and before you realize it he's upon you. He reaches out his hand, what do you do?
-Take his hand. -Stand there in a daze. -Run like hell. -Other.
-Take his hand. -Stand there in a daze. -Run like hell. -Other.
So, breaking that down, you would roll a D20 for any of the options. Let's say you pick option 1, and for those who don't know Merin, he eats people...so that's not the best option but it could be! High risk options can yield high rewards IF YOUR ODDS ARE GOOD.
So, you take his hand and roll a 1: He breaks your hand, pulls you in, stings you in paralysis, and eats you alive while you feel every bit of it. You roll a 10: He bears his teeth, snaps your neck, and eats you. You roll a 15: He takes off your arm. You roll 16-19: Alphamai puts an arrow in his spine, telling him not to hurt Takaku's guests. Roll a 20: He politely bows his head, kisses your hand, and offers you a tour of his section of the castle (this would start a whole choice tree, and exceptional odds means exceptional rewards especially since at any point Merin might off you).
-If you choose the other option, you still have to roll for whether the result would be a positive or negative one.
-Saying “if my odds be good —“ for your roll can give you a positive 10 or negative 10 to your roll, you might not get either. The roll to determine whether or not you do is hidden. Rolling a 20 and getting the +10 yields beyond good results, rolling a 1 and getting a -10 will most likely result in death.
-Death is not always the end, there will be a life system that allows for multiple lives.
-No back tracking posts, I understand that some people might post more than others, but you can't change the past. EX:
Bob- Appears
Bob- Eats candy
Bob- Leaves
Tiffany- Before Bob eats the candy, she hides it. She then stabs Bob in the throat.
Bob- Eats candy

Tiffany- Before Bob eats the candy, she hides it. She then stabs Bob in the throat.
Tiffany's post is impossible, what Bob has done is done.
-If there's a direct interaction of your character with someone else's, allow them time to respond before just going ahead and continuing. It takes two to tango, and if you're trying to dance with someone, you have to wait for them to accept your offer, not just go ahead and do the whole scene.
Combat:
-Fighting will be text based, you may attack or dodge once per post unless you set yourself up for a badass combo. Badass combos are allowed, but no one submitted Chuck Norris as a character, therefore I don't expect you to fight like him every battle.
-You will roll 2 dice, one for success rate one for damage. On gaia you can only roll multiples of 1 type of dice at once, so the success rate one will be multiplied or divided to make it a D20. For those of you new to Gaia, dice rolls are on the right under "Post Action" pull down. To flip a coin you'll have to do random number 1-2 or roll a D4 and y'know math.
-Ranged combat will be tricky and for simplicity will be the only combat that can't move while fighting. Enemies who are close range fighters will run and attack, this will give you the dodge option. You could also counter, but you'll receive a penalty of 5 to your roll.
-If my odds be good rolls do not apply to quick combat. For the start or final blow you could use them, or for longer strategic battles: “If my odds be good my sword will strike true.”
GM:
-I will have hidden rolls and visible rolls. Hidden rolls determine loot, enemies, allies, and a bunch of other stuff the same way they do in a DND campaign. I have never been called a strict or sadistic GM, which means I don’t like to torture my players with hard rolls. We do this for fun, not for a chore. At the same time, if the group is getting golden on the rolls, skipping merrily through non-hostile zones 90% of the time, well that’s no fun either.
-I will update Character Cards for things like inventory, lives, keys, and statues. Your gem amount will be on there, but if there’s no major change to your character sheet, I won’t update it every day. Character sheet stats will be on this post.
-If you like your character sheet and want to put them in your sig, I will send you the code. We could even make them clickable so it’d link to the forum.
-These rules are subject to change but not without reason, I will discuss all changes with the group before making it official on this post. If the group wants new rules added or changed, they merely need to message me. This is our guild’s first story run, and this will be my standard for gameplay in future games.
-I will keep a log on details offline, such as gold amount, character stats not included on the character card, health, and effects they may or may not know about.
-If you hire a follower/purchase a Nalizarin, I will still remain in control of them but for the most part they will do as you say and for posting spam reasons if you do a sort of "Go get me a drink" we'll just assume they brought you a drink. Whether or not they poisoned said drink, depends on how much you've beat on them, at which point I'll make a reference in a post.
-Tour guides are NPC's just like shop owners and non-followers. They will not follow your commands blindly, and have a mind of their own depending on which one you decide to hire. Some are free, others are costly.
Character Cards sad Those of you without pictures can submit your own art, art you have permission to use for a character card, or I can draw you one)
