BASICS

Name L'lhynd
Stage prentice
Race Matori
Class prentice ›› rogue ›› artisan ›› master tailor
Gender male
Age 16

DESCRIPTION

Hair On the lighter side, messy & choppy. Does not put a lot of thought into styling it. bangs, slightly curly
Eyes Pale orange, almost yellow
Skin Average matorian markings, perhaps slightly lighter but also something not immediately noticeable upon a glance.
Build Very skinny, to the point where he may look slightly malnourished. Not often noticeable, as he wears baggy clothing and many layers.
Clothing Likes layers, doesn't like being touched. Doesn't care about the heat or humidity, will cover up anyways while he is in the public eye. In the privacy of his own home he is likely to shed those layers and wear very little. Fond of hoods while out and about, sometimes feels self conscious off his 'off coloring' compared to other Matori. Actual clothing design & colors up to artist, with the general idea kept in mind. Some 'style' ideas: one, two, three, four, five, six
Accessories

PERSONALITY

Positive Trait Clever
Neutral Trait Capricious
Negative Trait Vindictive

While L'lhynd is not quite the friendly type, he's always been good at masking his irritation when he needs to deal with others, which he learned from his years in servitude. He's too clever for his own good and knows that a honeyed tongue means less bruises, less arguing and often a quick exchange so he no longer has to deal with whatever it is he's dealing with be it a person, selling goods or a task. This is easier said than done, of course, and often times L'lhynd will be unable to contain his annoyance with others.

Though he'd quite possibly stay confined to his house except to gather living resources... he knows he needs money to survive and the only way to do that is by interacting with the earthlings of Tendaji. Considering how temperamental L'lhynd is, some days it's easier to hold in his irritation or nasty manner than others, and other days he doesn't bother. If he has no business with an earthling (such as during his travels or eating at an inn and having another patron try and engage him in conversation) he can be quite abrasive, quite unpleasant and very quick to apply his sharp tongue in 'persuading' the other party to leave him be. This hasn't boded well in the past, often causing physical altercations that L'lhynd is just not physically fit for or trained well enough to handle.

While he can display something of a gentle nature (the delicate handling of a fine cloth, feeding a small group of Alol, laughing while he watches the Zanteer play) it isn't often that this sort of behavior is on display for strangers. He certainly isn't inherently bad... simply put, he's had a bad life and has embraced the negatives rather than the positives and has turned quite bitter towards the citizens of Tendaji. He can, and certainly will, hold a grudge against those who've wronged him and even sometimes those who don't honestly deserve his ill will. He feels the saying 'an eye for an eye' is a very good one indeed, and even if he doesn't shell out his retribution immediately he knows one day he will get to it, and his offenders will have fear in their eyes when he's done with them.

Likes fabrics, quiet, tea, sweet things, sewing, sun-drizzles, animals, hot springs, interesting facts, spices

Dislikes crowds, peppiness, being questioned, bland food, dirt, physical pain, others trying to sway his decisions, physical contact, cheap cloth, insects

BACKGROUND

Family

Lhynd - Father, full blood matori. Lived in Baun entire life, a fisher like his father, and his father before him. Docile, submissive.

L'ilya - Mother, full blood matori. Originally from Setal, took to the fishing life quite easily. Makes special pots to pickle fish in during her free time. Gentle, easily coerced.

Okyia - The head servant in Zuberi's household. Very willing to serve the family, but also kind and open with the other servants. She taught L'lhynd how to sew.

Captors

Zuberi - The worst sort of Oban: one with super control issues. Instantly at odds with the slightly older Oban, L'lhynd never fully liked Zuberi. He wasn't shy about stating this fact, either. The more time he spent with the family though the more he learned to pretend, and the longer L'lhynd's patience grew for hiding away his irritation where the other was concerned.

Zuberi's Parents - Not overly concerned with L'lhynd for a long time, other than to punish him when he was not being nice to Zuberi or waiting on him properly. After a while though they constantly tried to keep L'lhynd away from their son, deeming him a bad influence, though the Matorian knew he had nothing to do with Zuberi's odd and obsessive nature and he swore often he did not encourage it. It seemed to be a catch-22 though, no matter what he said the parents were often displeased with him.

History L'lhynd can not remember much before becoming a servant in Oba because it felt like, to him, that he'd been a servant his entire life. He was taken at the early age of four years old, and he remembers little of that day. He does remember meeting the boy he was to become a companion to and how nasty he'd tried to be in hopes that he'd simply be returned to his own parents. Things did not quite pan out that way, though. For the next handful of years he was forced not only to do basic chores but also to keep Zuberi entertained through whatever means the Oban thought were necessary. It was exhausting and frightening, especially because L'lhynd was allowed to know little outside of Zuberi. The other boy made it clear quickly enough how displeased he was when L'lhynd tried to spend time with other servants, or even when L'lhynd had to attend to other duties that Zuberi was not a part of. Perhaps the only time that L'lhynd was free to pursue some form of 'me time' was when he was in the company of Okyia, who even Zuberi would not cross regardless of her title as 'servant'. She spent most of that time showing him how to mend their masters' clothing, often joking that she would not be around forever.

What felt like the moment the news of the ward ending reached Oban boarders, L'lhynd took his belongings (the clothes on his back, which he discarded immediately upon his arrival at his parents' home) and high tailed it for the boarders. In reality it wasn't so immediate, just as soon as he possibly could without having to entertain repercussions. He did so in the dead of night, sneaking from Zuberi's family home because he'd been expected to stay, simply because he had 'no place to go' and 'his parents probably hated him by now'. He could care less what negative thoughts his captors tried to plant in his head... he'd make himself a place to go and he could honestly care less if his parents hated him or not... truth be told? He hated them for letting this happen to him.

When he eventually reached his parents' home he didn't hesitate in ripping into them, exposing what horrible matorians they'd been and disregarding everything they said. He wouldn't believe a word of it; that he'd been taken while he was playing near by, that they'd tried to stop the Oban from grabbing him up but it'd done little good. No, he knew the truth. From the very beginning his captors had told him that they'd paid a handsome sum of money for him.

He didn't stay long with his parents after the screaming match. Long enough to pick through their belongings to find what he needed to survive, believing that they owed him, and then he was off. He has spent the last few years utilizing his knowledge in mending clothing to make an okay living, saving little by little. He thirsts for more though, he wishes desperately to be able to create beautiful garments one day.

Hey there <3 Love that you're trying for another character already.

Just a couple of questions to start off with at first, and then maybe more later if it comes to that :]

His personality and background seem fine, but there are a couple of issues with his looks that should be sorted out.

Genetically, Matori have medium to dark tones in their hair, so having very light hair isn't really possible. The absolute lightest he'd be able to go would be this (but can be more blue like his ref image). Hopefully that's alright with you?

The only other major issue is his skin, since water earthlings kind of only have one skin color option to them. We could maybe make it a little lighter than normal, but we wouldn't be able to make it more purple, it would be the same hue as the others.

His personality and history are fine though and I don't really have any issues with anything there, so really it's just some cosmetic alterations.

Ehehe, I am very excited and really love the shop! I realized it might be impossible to have his coloring altered so much, but I thought I'd try wink

I've fixed his description to fit a more appropriate Matorian coloring!
