The second he'd heard there were lost boxes, Rikuh knew he'd have to come to the rescue. The male had a rather boring life thus far. He didn't have many friends, he didn't have any siblings, and he sure as hell didn't have any mate prospects. Recently Rikuh had started to get a bit, well, down. While he wasn't used to having others around, he recognized that he was lonely and would really appreciate some company. Above all, he had started having some strange feelings recently.
Rikuh knew that the feelings he was getting typically only happened to female Ulaya. The yearning when he saw kits pass by, playing, all happy and silly and carefree. Above everything he wanted he really, truly desired kits. The kind of companionship he just knew they could provide was something incomparable, and he needed that. Rikuh just knew that would resolve the strange, lonely, emptiness he was experiencing.
That is why, when he'd heard rumors that there were lost boxes, Rikuh immediately leaped to the rescue. Whether he aspired to rescue a box or rescue himself he wasn't sure, but he also wasn't sure it really mattered. He bounded to the area where the boxes were rumored to be lost and saw a few other Ulaya involved in the search. He quickly became nervous, fearing he wouldn't find a box in time to take it under his wing. Of course, he thought, there were so many others around that he could always make friends with some of the other Ulaya. Perhaps that would help.
Seeing a few different spots still not searched, Rikuh spotted a high patch of grass up against an oak tree. Figuring, if he were a box that would be where he'd hide, he immediately padded over to it, hoping to find what he knew he needed. Placing a paw into the grass he spread apart the blades and quickly glanced a brilliant purple color. He grinned, dipping down his chin and placing the edge of the box between his teeth, pulling it gently from the grasses.
Once freed, Rikuh released it and rose his head back up to look at the box. It was purple all over and near the base there was painted a cluster of beautiful flowers. Rikuh couldn't keep the wide smile off his face, figuring he had finally found himself a friend. Scooping the box up with one paw, he started humming as he headed back home, eager to get his new life with his new friend started. Little did he know how much that new friend would grow to mean to him.
