To say that Zeru was a wanderer would be a bit inaccurate; he did love his extended family, but since they were spread out across the land, he was merely visiting relatives, was he not? During these travels he often performed odd-jobs and his elders seemed to like having a strong youth to perform those tasks they could no longer do, but their own children had yet to get around to. Digging up and dragging out old stumps, helping to erect fences around gardens, and even a barn raising had been among his recent jobs. In return he never went hungry and he got plenty of sunshine, so what more could he want?

Currently he was following a rumor that a great aunt and her herd had made their home in the Desert of Unforgiven. He had not visited since he was a scraggly foal, but he thought he remembered the way. He was curious to learn the nuances of the matriarchal herd, so he was quite eager to visit. He just had to get there first!

Meanwhile, he noticed the gradual change in environment, from plants to animals, and over time his sleep schedule became more nocturnal when the midday heat became unbearable. Still, once he finally saw the dunes stretch out in all directions before him, he found himself breathless. It was early morning before the glaring heat of the sun and the air still had a hint of moisture in it, but he knew he mustn't dally in finding a place to rest.

Man did the sun feel good. The day has only begun recently but already it was promising to be a searing one. There was still enough dampness in the air to keep out the lizards and reptiles seeking to drink and warm themselves. It was a wonderful time to hunt Jötunn favorite snack and food. He purred as he moved out of his home, a deep cave under rocks that remained cool in the desert heat. He stretched his body as the warm sun hit him.

He moved lazily threw the dunes and sand his large paws fanning out as he stepped keeping him from sinking in the hot sand His paws had been burnt enough by the sands of his home that he hardly ever felt the burn any more.

He knew the best places for his favorite treats and if he did not need to table into his reserves and could eat fresh the better. He kept his body close the the ground, with years of practice he had found that keeping his brown fur on the ground tricked the lizards that it was just shadows from the silver grey cloud that was his upper body.

There was a large fat lizards looking away from him and sunning just prefect for a pounce. Electric purple eyes focused on the scaled form and he was just about to pounce when what had caught the lizards attention caught his as well. A strange stallion was drawing close his impressive huge build was hard to hide in the wide open of the shifting dunes.

Jötunn saw the shift in the lizard and leapt on it pinning the form with his paw and picking it up in his hand before tilting his head and looking more directly at the massive heaving breathing form as he drew close. "Warm morning..."

(oh he was breathless because the sight of the sun over the dunes was beautiful, not because he was breathing hard. Sorry about that! xP )

Zeru found a large formation of rocks and had decided to scout it out. Who knew what other creatures had made their homes there, and he did not want to disturb them. But if he could wait out the heat in this place, all the better. He circled around and thought he could see some caves or outcroppings large enough for one of his size. They were up high, however, and would require some climbing to get to.

The resident cattaur's movements were nearly silent as large fluffy paws captured the sand they clung to, so when Zeru finally saw him, the silvery-white humanoid half was at first like a floating apparition, glowing faintly pink in the morning light. He caught himself staring, hairs raised along his spine, until he realized the tawny feline form was indeed attached.

Jötunn had just captured his breakfast and as he held it in hand greeted Zeru. How strange! This cattaur was undeniably male, yet he seemed neither territorial nor even surprised to see him. By the cattaur's greeting they could have been neighbors. "Warm morning, indeed. Greetings, cousin. I was looking for a place to stay today. Do you happen to live here?"

(Ack! My bad. Well thank you for giving a small excuse to pant XD )

Jötunn's left ear flicked as his prey wriggled in his hand trying to crane its long neck just enough to bite the pale digits that encircled it about the forelimbs and back. One faded silver digit extended across the scale neck preventing any unwanted nipping as the cattaur looked over the oddly feline patterned stallion before him.

It was very clear as the other had drawn near that in a fight Jötunn would loose before it even started so there was no point in trying to fight him off and judging form is look and his demeanor he was not in search of a permanent place to call his home so there was no risk of loosing his cool cave. So why should he not be hospitable and let him rest a bit.

He took another assessment of the stallion before him and the markings seemed familiar. Ah yes he must be apart of the mix herd deeper in the desert. How troublesome that one of them found his little spot but surly it would not come back to bite him in the haunches. He let the cousin comment slip, just giving him farther conformation of which herd this stallion called kin, "In this spot here no...but a short walk from here yes. This is a good hunting spot. Will you require sheather for the full day? And I gather food as well as drink?" He asked lowering his gaze finally from the wall of a stallion before him to his wriggling prey.

He flipped the reptile over and drew his fingers over the fat belly. With a sigh he plopped the wriggling creature on the sand and watched it scurry off with a hiss. "Heavy with eggs." he stated just incase his company were to ask. "I can take you to a better place to cool down, this place will only be shady another hour at most."
