IC

Tale hadn't yet seen many water earthlings on their land, and they had become something of a commodity. Mano was no exception. Mano was fishing off of the beach to the north shore of Tale, the water glistening off of the waves and off of his skin, the muscles in his back moving and stretching with the exertion... while three sets of eyes continued to stare from afar.

Mano had seemed to build up his own personal fanclub and three young leaf girls had set their sights on wooing the young man.

Quest Tasks
||. This quest is to introduce Mano to a culture shock in the ways of love in the other places of Tendaji.
||. The quest should start with Mano noticing his fanclub.
||. The fanclub will ooh and ah over everything he has to say to them, and everything they see they like.
||. Eventually Mano will say something that will screech the flirting to a halt and they will become irritated with Mano.
||. What he has said would be considered normal around other water earthlings, but very odd and possibly offensive to the people of Tale.
||. Mano must figure out some way to back away from his faux pas and fix the situation.
||. The quest should end with Mano righting what he had said to offend them.

Part One: The Slip Up

Mano, while being unable to find himself a lead on a trident yet, had found a rather good spot for fishing regardless of his lack of a proper fishing utensil. He had stood there for some time, watching as the most amazing fish set about jumping forth from the water, as though teasing him. It was a grand little cove, wasn't it? This was the sort of place that he could stay in forever! He was sure he could fish here that long, if not longer, and he'd never even make a dent in the amount of fish here. It was then that he'd set about searching out something, anything, to use to try to catch himself one of those amazing fish. Just imagine how long he'd be able to live off a fish that size if he were to smoke it so that it would last a while? Just the thought had the Water Tribesman drooling a bit. As though blessed by On'os with luck, or maybe Ome Essd because she wanted her child to eat well, Mano soon found himself a rather grand stick to use in his endeavor to catch one of the giant fish. It was one he could sharpen to a point and soon enough he was ready to set to trying to spear fish with it.

It was no trident but it still proved to be quite perfect for the task at hand, the problem was, at present at least, Mano. How long had it been since he'd done something like this? To fight against a fish with a makeshift spear instead of practicing against human target with knives, something that Mano found he much preferred even if he was beyond rusty. Even when he'd done this sort of thing back home, as the youngest son, he'd always had the aid of his brothers or his father. As such trying it out all on his own was a little more difficult and intimidating. He meant to keep at it though, especially when one of his throws turned out to be a lucky one, one that actually speared the fish that he had been aiming at! It was as though On'os, the God of Fortune, was on his side with that throw.

Giving a bright smile as he started into the water, catching hold of the end of his spear, and dragged it forth from the water along with the first he'd speared clean through. He lifted it up, studying the fish, then said in a happy tone, "Thank you for helping me with my aim, Great On'os."

It was just as he was coming out of the water, damp from the water and sweat, his bright eyes shining, and his emerald hair flowing behind him, that he realized that he wasn't alone. In fact he was as far from alone as one could possibly be as he spotted not one, not two, but three beautiful looking women from the Leaf Tribe standing together in a tittering circle, their eyes on him. He blinked a couple times, then gave a bright smile, before he lifted a hand to wave at the trio. Wow... and here he thought that the perfect stick, and the great shot with the fish, were the only gifts that On'os was going to shower him with today. It seemed that the God of Fortune was really on his side today though, wasn't he? He was fast becoming Mano's favorite God if only because he felt as though he was one of that particular God's favored children. At least that was how he was feeling at the moment as his waves to the three women seemed to draw them over so that they could fawn over him closer up.

"Hello, ladies." He said, giving the trio of them a grin, his fishing completely forgotten for the time being. Sure, he loved fishing and was glad to be doing it again, but what man in their right mind would decide to fish when there were beautiful women nearby? Three beautiful women at that, all of whom were suddenly surrounding him, and talking all at once. It was actually a bit overwhelming even for Mano who rather enjoyed all attention being on him.

"Ah! You're one of the Water Tribe from Matori, aren't you?" One of them asked of Mano, daring to lift a hand to brush it against one of Mano's fin like ears, as though she was checking to make sure that it was actually real. Unable to resist Mano gave his ear a little twitch, amused when it made the woman jump in response.

He was about to respond to the question when another of the women spoke up, reaching out to let a hand hover just over his hair, "Do you see his hair? Oh! It's so pretty and green!" She said in a delighted manner, "Is that it's natural color or do you dye it?" She asked, wanting to know if it were real or not. Hair like that was like nothing that they had in Tale, the strangest and most foreign color that she'd seen before now had been the dark blue that some of those from Zena had, nothing like this pretty green!

"Surely it can't been real." The third woman said, "It's far too bright a color for that. No, what I am interested in is his skin! Do you see? He has no jewels anywhere on him!" She said, stepping in a little closer to inspect him. His skin seemed to glitter in the sun, partly from the salty water that clung to him, but no glittering jewels.

All their attention and their comments had him chuckling a little as he tried and failed a couple of times to get a word in edgewise as the girls seemed to crowd around him, inspecting him closely, seeming as though they were quite fascinated. He found himself wondering for a moment if they had perhaps never seen someone like him before? The same could be said for some of the others that he'd met in the past so it could be altogether possible. Giving a smile then, his best smile, "He said, you guys are pretty well informed about my people, I'm impressed. I am from the Water Tribe, yes, and originally I did live in Matori though I spent a bit of time in Oba as well." He explained, resting the butt of the stick on the ground, his other hand lifting to run it through some loose, emerald strands of his hair before he said, "It might sound a little crazy but this is actually my natural hair color. Green isn't so far fetched in Matori, neither is dark teal and some blues even."

"We have some pretty bright and fancy hair colors but I have to say you ladies have lovely hair as well, I've never see such pretty shades of brown and red." Alright, he'd seen some in of those colors in Oba but they didn't know that. Giving a smile he said, "Not to mention your eyes, you three have the most beautiful eyes, like pretty jewels. I'm in awe." Compliments that had the group of them tittering in delight, something that only caused Mano to get that much happier. How he loved to give out compliments in bulk, loving to see the way that people lit up and blushed.

Looking between the girls he gave them a smile, "As for the jewels that I am lacking, I think that they look far better are the three of you then they ever could on me." He cooed at them, smiling when the three of them set to giggling, one of them even fanning herself a little. It was quite the fun game if you asked him, one that caused him to completely forget what it was that he'd been up until this point. The girls were far too distracting for someone like Mano who was easily led astray by beautiful flirty people... and it only got even more distracting as time went one it seemed their reasoning behind approaching him was suddenly made clear to him.

One of the girls reached out, catching hold of Mano's hand, holding it tight, and declared in an excited manner, "Please, you have to come to dinner at my place! I want to hear all about Matori and the Water Tribe!" She said, giving Mano's hand a little tug. It was an invitation that Mano liked the sound of, ever a fan of free food. He was about to say as much when suddenly one of the other girls caught hold of his other hand, causing him to accidentally drop his stick, as well as the fish he still had speared on it.

She gave it a tug and said, "Leit! You can't just steal him away like that! I saw him first!" She shook her head at her friend before looking up at Mano, "I think you should come to my house instead for dinner! Leit isn't even that good a cook yet!" She told him, ready to sabotage her friend if it meant winning the Matori man as her own.

The third girl sighed a little, "Really, you two? Leit, Vanda, you can't fight each other over a boy!" She told them, hands resting on her hips as she watched the two of them tugging on the pretty, somewhat startled looking Water Tribesman. She looked up at Mano and said, "I don't want to see my best friends fighting like this, so you should just come to my place, you know, for the sake of peace." She said, giving him a wink.

Mano couldn't help but to grin a bit as the three girls seemed to started to argue amongst themselves about who it was that he would be going home with for dinner. It was something that he kind of just wanted to watch and see how it might turn out... but it would seem as though his mouth, which tended to get the best of him at times, got away from him. Giving the trio of girls his best smile Mano said, "Hey now, there is no reason to argue, I promise there is enough of me to go around and I don't mind being shared by three such lovely girls." A comment that seemed to bring about instantly silence... and it wasn't the good kind...

Part Two: Mending Fences

After the silence drew out for what felt like a painful amount of time, and without Mano really understanding what was going on. All he knew for certain was that the girls were all starring at him with wide eyes, their mouths slightly open. He blinked a couple times before he gave them a smile, "I assure you I can keep up, no need to worry about that!" He chirped, missing the point entirely.

It was Leit that reacted first, dropping his hand before her hands came to rest on her hips, "Excuse me? Share you? I don't know what it's like where you come from but aren't like that here! Isn't that right Vanda, Shar?" She said, giving Mano a very serious look, the sort of look that told him straight away that he'd definitely done wrong and it wasn't anything to do with his ability to actually be able to keep up with three girls. Nope, it would appear as though the idea of sharing, at least sharing him, wasn't something that they were all too amused by. Something that confused Mano just a bit.

He glanced toward Vanda next as the girl had released his other hand, leaving him standing there feeling... well, more then a little out numbered. His mind was racing as he leaned over to scoop of his fishing spear, giving it a once over, and found himself wondering if one of the Gods or Goddesses was punishing him at the moment. He was supposed to be fishing after the moment after all, not playing around with a bunch of girls. Had his luck changed? Was he no longer a favored of On'os because he'd so quickly fallen off the path that he'd laid out before himself? Oops, the God of Fortune was quite fickle, wasn't he? Turning to look between the girls who'd started to scold him, talking about how they weren't 'easy women' and that they didn't know what 'Matori girls were like' and various other things that had him starring. Alright, alright, he was going to have to clear this one up before the ones called Leit and Vanda threw him into the ocean.

"I... apologize." He said, giving them his best smile, "I guess I didn't think before I spoke." He lifted one hand scratching it against the back of his head, hoping that he looked sufficiently rueful over his actions, "I didn't think about it, the fact that Tale is different then Matori, the people too. What I did there, as well as what I saw when I was in Oba, it sort of... well, colored my thinking." Oba especially, then again it wasn't as though he had exactly been with the cream of the crop there. No, he'd been a part of the crowd that most of the nobles and reputable people would have looked down their nose at... well, until it came time to have someone assassinated that was. That was neither here nor there though, neither was his training or even his own values or desires. What mattered at the moment was that he had three pretty girls glaring at him, two more intensely then the third, and he felt he should probably try to fix things. He didn't much care for having people, especially pretty ones that he enjoyed flirting with, mad at him.

How to go about making it up to them, that was the question? After a moment he bowed at the waist until he was nearly parallel to the ground and said, "I hope you can forgive me, I guess the way I grew up sort of left me with a skewed perspective, and I really don't know a lot about the women of Tale so insulted the lot of you unknowingly."

Lifting his head he gave the trio the best big, contrite puppy eyes he could muster, before he said, "If you don't completely hate me, and if you would consider it, do you think that you would maybe teach me? That way I won't risk doing this again?"

Leit gave a little snort, "As if we are going to let you off the hook that easily!" She said, looking between her two friends, blinking a couple times, "Wait... are we?" It wasn't hard to see that the two of them were being won over by the Matori man again. She found herself tempted to remain firm against him and what he'd said... but he really was cute, wasn't he? Not to mention that he was willing to learn so as not to say something so awful again. As if she wanted to share the guy, or any guy at that, with her friends! That was just... weird. Of course just the fact that he thought he had a chance at such a thing made her wonder what sort of weird up bringing that he'd had.

After a time she gave a sigh, "I suppose that we can forgive you, as well as teach you a bit about Tale and Tale women, so long as you in turn tell us about Matori." She said, glancing between her friends, making sure that it was a deal that they were alright with. The two seemed to think it over, giving nods of their heads, with Vanda adding, "You also have to answer any and all questions that we have."

"Oh! And come to dinner with us, maybe we can just have a bit meal together." Shar said, before giving Mano a look of warning and added, "Not like that either, don't get any ideas in your head, just an innocent meal."

A fair trade of cultural information, it would benefit both sides, as well as get Mano off the hook. He really didn't want to leave the girls mad at him, or worse thinking ill of his people when it was just a difference in beliefs. There was also that offer of a meal, even if it was an innocent one that would net him no kisses. Surely it would still be worth it? Oh! He'd also be able to ask them about any nearby fishing villages! This could actually work out well for him and all he had to do was do his best to behave himself, maybe cut back on comments that would get him in trouble again, and answer any questions they had for him. If the questions got too personal he could always make something up, right?

After a moment he gave them his best and brightest smile before he said, "That sounds wonderful to me!" Mano felt himself able to breath easily once more as it would seem that the girls were giving him a second chance, one that he might not deserve in his eyes, but he'd been able to get them to give him that chance regardless. He was going to have to pray to all of the Gods and Goddesses, and offer up many thanks for the charisma he was born with, knowing full well it was what really got him out of the mess... well, that and likely his good looks, something they'd also blessed him with. He'd make use of both to continue to keep himself in the good graces of those around him, not wanting to make another misstep as he'd done today ever again if he could help it.

Giving the girls a smile he said, "I have to say, I was a little worried I feel out of his favor, but having the three of you forgive me is truly a blessing from On'os." He told the trio, something that had the questions flowing from the girls instantly as they set to asking him who On'os was, something that would be the first of many subjects that he would end up telling the trio about over the course of the evening.

Suhuba

Thanks for the fun prompt!

It gives me lots of ideas for how to go about Mano getting his trident ICly, probably doing so with the help from the girls he met here. ^_^ <3

As always there is no rush on his art! I know there is a lot of other stuff on your art lists and I am in no hurry. I am happy to get it at your pace! <3
