Neska, now that she'd managed to aid the wounded iceling to her camp, was a t a lost of what to do. He'd managed to keep himself on his feet despite the bleeding, which amazed her. She hated pain and wimped out a lot but he just kept on his feet! She set Lala, her young kinfa, down and scurried over to where Vollerei had stashed their packs. "Uhh... do you... mind if I bandage the wounds?" She asked hesitantly as she pulled out some bandages and water to clean the wounds with. "We also have food if you need it....." They always had food, momma made sure of that! And she'd noticed her mother was always hungry (well, more than usual at least) after a fight. DraconicFeline look what I finally got around to setting up 8D

Ruelash grunted. He'd had to lay down, which wasn't his idea of 'good' but he'd rather lay down here than in the middle of some random pile of mud. He was sure not even 'chi herself knew what was in that crud. After a moment, he realized that maybe he needed to give a more clear answer than his usual not-unfriendly grunts – communication was a skill he was learning, thanks in large part to Iroia, and he wasn't terrible at it. Just gruff. “Aye. Sure.” he said looking away, around the camp itself. He certainly didn't want anything to get 'bad' and fall off. Those bandits weren't worth the mark it would leave. It was a camp. That was all he could really say about it. He turned back to her abruptly at the mention of food, surprised – perhaps because he wouldn't have offered that himself. Certainly he wouldn't have offered it so pleasantly. “Uh.” he said, thinking (which was not his strong suit) “Food'd be good. Aye...” he frowned at her, regarding her with his intense yellow eyes. “Who were ye, again?”

Neska hesitated fr a bit even though he'd said go ahead. It was a stranger! And honestly.. she didn't know much bout healing. She set the bandages down and went back for food; food distracted people so maybe she could get this done with out embarrassing herself with her lack of knowledge. "...Here. And I'm Neska. My mother, Vollerei, was the Alkidike who chased the bandits." She handed him the simple loaf of bread and dried meat that Vollerei always had on her; Neska was convinced her mother went on midnight raids into nearby towns for food.. where else did she keep getting bread? She looked at the wounds and the clothing covering them.... "Ummm...." She blushed, a deep red staining her cheeks as she looked away then back. "You-- you'll have to.. take the ... shirt off.... I can't um... bandage it.. or clean it.... with the clothing on..." She didn't even mention the leg wound and pants.. nope.. .that could.. wait.. or he could do it himself.

Neska. That was an easy enough name to remember. It was the other one, Voller-whatever, that Ruelash wasn't sure he would manage. Then again, it was Neska who was helping him anyway, so he didn't really have to, did he?
He took the bread and meat with a grateful grunt and – to his surprise – devoured it hungrily. He hadn't realized how hungry he was through the exhaustion and the various aches and bruises that now covered him. He rarely had bread – meat and scrounged vegetation was more his usual fare – so the fluffy, grainy, thick and hard stuff was actually sort of a treat for him.
He enjoyed his meal a little more because of it, and it took him a while to realize she had asked a question. “Huh?” he exclaimed, blinking at her for a moment before comprehension dawned. Oh. Yeah. Couldn't get at the wounds with cloth in the way.
Ruelash was used to being clothed. In Zena, especially in the harsh winter blizzards, a part exposed was a part lost. Even though he often went with ears and face uncovered, that was a risk in itself and sometimes, when out in that sort of weather, he covered up tremendously. The habit of being clothed carried over even here, where any part that was covered broiled in the hellish heat. It just felt strange. Plus, clothes were armor.
Ruelash, however, was no stranger to stripping down to deal with the heat. And, in the interests of getting his injuries taken care of – and maybe more bread and meat (and maybe, he thought hopefully, the sweet, sticky stuff called honey?)...
”Oh, ya. Sure.” he said. The outer coat was easy enough to shrug off, with only a little pain as it went over his shoulders. The shirt was harder – it clung to him, caked with blood and mud and sweat. He fumbled with it for an aching, painful bit before he managed to drag it over his head. He tossed it to the ground in exasperation, his chest bared. ”That work for ya?” he asked, completely unabashed, unashamed, and unphased by his sudden bare-ness. Less than he'd thought he'd be, actually – which surprised him.
Huh he mused briefly, Maybe I'm getting' used to this place.

DraconicFeline Don't forget the group one here! Neska goes after rue XD Robo has decided this. ;p Neska is all ._. do I have to appraoch? He's a.. he.. and no shirt.... >///> Neska blushed; red staining her cheeks as he easily stripped... how could anyone just.. take clothes off that easily? And in front of a girl no less! Not that Alkdiike outfits hid anything.. but apparently the other being clothed just made it that much worse when they stripped. She covered her eyes... except for the peeking... Now I know one difference of the earthling males, she thought nervously. The shapes were... different. Flatter, harder and not curved as the Alkidike forms. "T-that's.. fine." She said, still blushing as she fiddled with water flask and bandages. He'd consumed the foo rather fast... Maybe he's still hungry? "Um.. after.. I clean and ah....bandage the wounds.. T-there's some more bread. Berries too." She stammered out as she inched a little closer... just not close enough to actually bandage or clean the wounds. She was super nervous about approaching; not like he's going to bite me or anything! She thought but... still.. She inched a little bit closer.

”Yeh.” he said, ”I'd like more of that bread. An' berries.” Those were good stuff. He wondered, briefly, what the Alkidike got out of helping him, but decided that he didn't entirely care. She was giving him stuff, and he was taking stuff, and she was patching him up besides. Not much more to care about than that.
He sat back, relaxed and, after a moment of inactivity, stared at her with his insolent yellow eyes. She had her things – the bandages, the water, all the stuff she'd need to heal him. So, what was taking her so long? ”So could ya do the bandaging?” he asked gruffly, ”So I can get me bread and berries?”

A red blush stained her pale yellow cheeks. "S-sorry. It's um...just.... Not used to seeing men." Really embarrassed now, she scooted over and started to clean the wounds with hand that shook slightly. The embarrassment at having stalled matched her embarrassment at seeing a man's bared chest... "Uh... wh-where are you from?" She spoke in a rush to break the silence. Normally she didn't mind silence but right now she needed something to distract herself with. His colors were not Alkidike, his shape was different.. but it wasn't bad. Just different.

”Huh?” Ruelash didn't manage to catch the girl's soft whisper, ”What did ye say?” He leaned back and let her clean his wounds, grimacing as it stung painfully. Where he was from should have been obvious from his colors, but he answered anyway, gritting his teeth against the pain.
”Zena.” he said, ”I'm from Zena. Th' tundra. It's...” he hissed in pain, ”It's real cold there.”

She cleared her throat; "Not um..used to other people." She said, this time not saying men... maybe saying that would have offended... best to make it vague and general. "What's cold like?" She asked curiously; all she knew was the jungle and its humidity. Winter in Chibale was.. non existent. Things rained a bit less and it got less humid but honestly that was all it ever did. Her mother hadn't gotten as far as Zena before war and Neska herself had drawn Volle back to Chibale so Neska had only heard stories from other people. She finished the bandages and quickly handed him his shirt back.

”Cold is... cold.” he explained, ”It, uh...” He found himself at a loss to describe something that he'd felt his whole life, ”It's kind of... biting. I don't know.” He took his shirt back... but didn't bother putting it on. He felt naked and uncomfortable, but it was hot, and it had felt good to get that shirt off. Not used to other people... he thought he might know what she meant. He actually didn't, but there was no way he could have known that it was men she didn't know about. He didn't know about men very much either, to be honest. He reached for the bread and berries and began to stuff his face – he was hungry. ”Didn't know there was bread here.” he commented, off hand, ”So uh...” he looked over at her, not sure what else to say, ”You sure you're not hurt?” he asked.

Neska's head tilted quizzically. "Bites?" Weather bit? She knew that the sun burned if you stood out in it all day... was it like that but different? "You make it sound like its alive..." Weather wasn't alive! Was it? But then... trees were alive.... Maybe weather was too? She wished he'd put the shirt on.. it made it hard to find a place to look! "Bread I always bring.. Mother really likes food so having variety keeps her happy." Neska commented with a small smile. "And no... climbing trees I can do without hurting myself so you and mother took the worst of it.. you sure you're feeling okay? If you need to stay a few days in one spot we have a camp..." She could talk to this one.. he was weird but someone she could talk too... Which made her feel a bit more comfortable. Talking always came to her with difficulty. She would rather quietly just slip away!

”Yeah. Bites. It's sharp an' it stings the skin.” It really was the best description he could think of. ”Sure it's alive. Weather moves and changes, don't it? Different from one day to the next?” Not that he'd actually thought about it in those exact terms before, but now that he did... he agreed. ”The tundra has a mind o' it's own. So does the jungle.” though he was pretty sure that Bergchi wasn't involved in Jahuar. ”And the Tale, and Sauti too. They do what they want t' do and you gotta respect that, otherwise, you'll be dead.” he said it flatly, not realizing that such a statement could upset her. It didn't upset him. It was just fact. She could climb trees without hurting herself? Good? ”Well, there's trees everywhere.” he said, matter of factly. If she couldn't climb them without hurting herself, then maybe she shouldn't live here. ”I'm...” he'd been about to say he was okay, but he knew better. With the option of rest on the table, that was what he chose. ”This ain't yer camp?” he asked, surprised. It had bread and berries and food and everything.

She hadn't thought of it that way... the idea that everything lived and moved and changed was a bit scary... made the world seem more loud. She wasn't sure if this idea was a good one or not.. she would have to think on it later! "I've never left the jungles before.. this is as far out as I've ever gone." She stated. "I heard that the trees of other lands are not like ours though?" She'd heard insulting things about other lands.. some had turned out to be true but some hadn't. She gave a small smile as he looked around: "Tis a temporary camp. One mother and Niabi were suing to go hunting for my Kinfa while I stayed at the main camp. Its safer and well protected." Of course it was, Vollerei would have it no other way. "Of course its high in the trees.. can you climb at all? Wounded?" Her brow furrowed as she wondered how to get him up a tree should he need to stay in a safer places... she certainly couldn't carry him! Maybe mother could.

Not leaving your homeland was... sensible. If you knew a place, Ruelash figured, you didn't actually need to leave. Of course, he had left, but he'd had his reasons for it and he was going back someday. The tundra called to him. It was home. ”Nah. They're smaller, for one thing. Not as glow-y.” he said, shrugging. Could he climb a tree? Yes and no. Not many trees worth climbing in Zena, and he was hurt... ”Maybe.” he said, standing assessingly. Yes. A definite maybe. ”How high up are we talking?” He'd have to ask her about her mother – she'd seemed strong and he wanted to fight her. For fun. Obviously...

DraconicFeline somehow getting one tag out of this stupid girl... why does she hide from me so? post 8 "Not glow? Do you not have crystals grow upon trees?" She hadn't ventured into the Tale forests with Vollerei... so she hadn't actually seen it. Smaller she knew thy had to be since all the earthlings would comment on the size of the jungle trees. "Its in the canopy. Well hidden and very far up." Her brow furrowed. "There's.. vines? So I can make you a ladder? I can't carry you... sorry..." Her shoulders slumped a bit. If she was tall and strong like mother than maybe she could have.. but she wasn't. She was the one who was too weak or quiet to be a real alkidike from the other kids teasings. And she knew that Volerei worried about her.. and the lack of training she'd done. Maybe I should have tried more, she thought guiltily.
