Welcome to the Destiny City Central Library Easter Egg Hunt!

Head Librarian Anthony Darrow has organized a fun little game that will run all weekend for members of Destiny City. The only requirements are a sense of fun, childish wonder and a love of books!

All over the library, through the various sections and topics the three floors of bookshelves have to offer, bright and colorful plastic easter eggs have been hidden! They may contain candy, or a small toy, and always have an interesting, literary fact for expanding and curious minds. Each section has eggs tailored to the subject matters, in general.

The most kid friendly games will, of course, take place in the children's section! There will be a storybook reading on Easter Sunday by the easter bunny, and his corgi sidekick, himself, and plenty of games and activities for young and older children alike.

There is no admission fee!

A number of the hidden eggs contain the majesty of another egg inside them! This is not a mistake! These golden eggs are winning tickets! They can be exchanged at the front counter for prizes, including themed easter baskets filled with books, candy, and a golden library card*!

The games and events will run all through the weekend!

*The Golden Library Card is for promotional use only. It works the same as a regular library card, but it is very shiny.

This is just meant to be a silly, fun little Reg ORP/Solo Prompt req filler! Feel free to RP here, if you'd like, or to take the prompt and write some solos based on your searches for eggs!

If you win something or would like to talk to Tony, just poke me! He will be at the front counter for the duration of the event!

I am going to attach a simple dice game to this one. Similar to the battle ORP from before, you can roll up to five 20 Sided dice! You can only roll one at a time, so each post has to be a different attempt to find an egg! If you roll a 14 you win an easter basket themed with books of your choice! if you roll a 5, 11 or 18, you will find a golden ticket in your egg, instead of a smaller golden egg. These tickets can be exchanged for one free book!

If you would like to make a solo out of this game, just roll all five dice in your first post, and plan your solo around what you roll! If you do want to redeem something with Tony, feel free to give me a poke, but it's not required! It can be assumed that you got your prize.

All other eggs have candy or toys in them, all appropriately easter in theme!

I think that's everything. Just have fun with it, and let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. Or questions. Hopefully it's not too confusing or weird.

It had been a long time since Kyndall had done anything like this. Harmony outgrew Easter egg hunts a long time ago and now popped in only to say hello on a rare day off from both school and work or for holidays. It had been ages since Kyndall bought little Easter dresses and picked up plastic grass and brightly colored eggs. Now, with Sarah, she had a second chance. Tony's first, all things considered. Their little angel looked beautiful in pale pink, a color Kyndall usually disdained but had now grown fond of because of their child.

She walked in with the little girl, smiling and happy. Their daughter wouldn't remember any of this but both of her parents would, she made sure of that with the camera strapped around her wrist.

After saying hello to Tony, who had to be an attentive host, she helped Sarah toddle around the library among other people with Dogby trotting alongside them. The corgi’s costume was very cute, bunny ears and a small suit covered her fur. This seemed to excite the poor toddler who looked torn between grabbing for eggs, her puppy, or the myriad other colorful things that captured her attention. Kyn talked to her and showed her everything, picking her up when there were larger crowds.

Once they made it to the children’s room she let her daughter down again to discover all the surprises her father left in there for the smaller children. Kyn had helped, of course, and delighted in how everything looked. They were a small family now, at least in the day to day, but no less happy for that. Sarah picked up a bright blue egg and showed it to her mother with a happy smile to which she got a smile in return. She offered the basket and the girl dropped it in dutifully.

Kyn offered words of encouragement, picking up a few books to borrow for bedtimes. She believed in instilling the habit of reading early on and someone read to Sarah every day, more than once if possible. It helped that her father worked at a library so that they did not have to offer the same things over and over.

They picked their way around, picking up just a few eggs before Sarah started to yawn for her nap. Dogby was not too far from that, wanting to cuddle with Gizmo for their afternoon nap. All this excitement was tuckering them both out. No one could put their baby to sleep like being in her dad’s arms so Kyn brought her over and handed her to her father. Within minutes Sarah was sound asleep, happy as you please. She smiled and watched other people milling about and happy.

It was a good day.

Kathryn could only ponder what it was that drove her to attend the Easter Egg hunt at the Destiny City library. The young woman paused outside the entrance of her workplace with a nervous glance before pulling open the doors and then walking through the electronic arch that greeted visitors to the library proper. She almost turned around at the noise and bustle of the place before steeling her nerves. There was no reason why she could not join in the festivities as she had not taken part in any of the set up of the hunt itself. The main draw for Kathryn to attend was the chance to pick up one of the bigger prizes. Being an employee of the library she had helped with advertising the event, mostly by word of mouth, and thus was familiar with the prizes that were being offered. It might have seemed selfish to only come for the chance at some free & potentially new reading material. There was just also that chance to get a golden library card. Call her childish but even though there was nothing special about the card itself it would mark her as special at least until the thrill ran out of carrying it around. Then it would be tucked away amongst her treasured possessions at home.

Peering around the main floor Kathryn released her breath and craned her neck to check out the activity on the second and third floors of the building. So far it looked like it was early in the event but Kathryn knew that she'd need to start looking for eggs soon, lest she lose out on the bigger prizes.

It took less than a minute for Kathryn to decide in which section of the library she would start hunting in. The Fantasy and Science Fiction zone was loudly beckoning to her with the promise of finding at least a few books that were worth reading, or even rereading. Climbing the stairs to the second floor Kat decided against carrying a basket of sorts and went about her chosen path. Ducking into the stacks Kathryn began randomly checking the shelves. She let her eyes guide her to any strange flashes of color that did not seem to belong. It took her only seconds to find her first egg. The temptation to open it right away was strong but she was going to wait until she had all her eggs in one spot. However Kat did take out a small piece of paper in which she marked where she had found the egg. If it turned out that she managed to find a ticket she wanted to return her other eggs to where she had found them. It would keep the hunt going for others. Moving through the second floor Kathryn located another two eggs before returning to the main floor. She would finish her hunt on this floor and then relax. It was fair foolish to do so but Kathryn found and plucked an egg from its hiding place in the children’s section much to the apparently displayed dismay of the parents that watched her.

Feeling their disapproval even as she moved into the mystery section Kathryn couldn’t help but feel a bit stung. This event was open to all. Who were they to judge? Finding one last egg Kathryn took her prizes to a nearby unoccupied study cubicle and began to open her eggs to display the prizes within. It seemed as if luck was on her side for once. Two of her five eggs had golden tickets in them. Kathryn turned each one over and gave a small shake of her head. Talk about an unexpected windfall: one of the tickets allowed her to claim a basket full of books. She'd take that prize above all else that she had found. Taking care Kathryn repacked the other contents into the eggs that they came from and began her trek to the places she had marked down. Once finished that chore Kathryn made her way to the front desk and lay down the egg's contents that she had kept. Kathryn paused before glancing around, "Pretty good turnout so far Tony. I think this was a good idea."

I did the egg collecting in a solo, so here's her redeeming her ticket

Ciel hurried to the front desk to claim her prize, a free book. She saw the familiar sight of the head librarian, Tony. She had never really talked to him much but he was always very polite and friendly.

"Excuse me Monsieur Tony. I found this golden ticket. May I please exchange it." She said in a polite but excited tone. Sure she could just buy any book she wanted but this felt more special both because it was a prize she had won and it was like a gift from the library.

Tony was sitting at the counter in a comfortable looking chair, leaning back and keeping himself as rested as possible. His cane was nearby, though there was also a wheelchair sitting around the corner. His leg was in a cast, and certainly did not look very useful, but it was his back that hurt him the most at the moment.

He was watching the event as it went on, enjoying the fun everyone seemed to be having, hunting through the library for the eggs he had taken so long to hide the night before. At least then he had been powered. Not the best use of his abilities as a Royal Knight, but still.

Since he was the only one that knew where the eggs were, even the other employees at the library were getting involved.

At his feet, one of his two Corgi's was sitting, wearing ears and a poofy white tail. This was the smaller, younger one, named Gizmo.

He looked up as someone approached, smiling brightly and rolling the chair forward, so he could sit up and look official. Of course, his desk was absolutely covered in easter grass, baskets, eggs, and all manner of decorations for the games. He was also dressed in a sweater vest that was decorated in eggs instead of argyle shapes, over a pastel shirt and festive enough green pants to match the green eggs on the brown sweater.

"Hello! You found a gold ticket? You can exchange it for any book you'd like! There are stacks available just over there," he motioned to a table that was literally stacked with books, as was the floor around it and of course a nearby book shelf. "Let me have the ticket, and by all means, pick whatever you'd like!"

"Merci!" Ciel said as she handed the ticket to Tony. She ran over to the stack of books eager to make her choice. After a bit of digging she found a copy of The Hobbit. She had been meaning to read it for a while now so she decided to take it. She held the book to her chest excited to get home and read it. She waved to Tony as she left the library. "Au revoir!"

((Solo link))

Jessie staggered to the counter, just about to loose her stack of books. A solid thunk sounded as the slightly over of a dozen books landed safely at the counter. The young lady grinned happily over the stack at the aged librarian sitting in a chair. "Tony. Happy Easter." Uncertain and a bit shy she shuffled her stack and her feet before getting brave enough to ask, "How are you? I..." She paused, uncertain how much she could relieve with the mass of people around her, Jessie didn't even know what kind of story he had been using to cover the grievous injuries. "I'm sorry about what happened." It was vague enough to cover all possibilities.

She was still disappointed in her abysmal failure to help out the senior knight. Jessie had to actually leave the fight shortly before it truly ended due to her own wounds, minor compared to what he had suffered. Two cracked ribs and countless bruises were all that she had to heal but Tony... even now he was still laid up. "I wish I was able to have helped more." It was said quietly and almost absently as her fingers gently ruffled the pages of a well loved paperback.

Pulling herself from her thoughts Jessie opened one of the library books to reveling a little golden ticket placed within the pages, as if it was marking the page she left off reading. "Anyway, whats with the tickets? I found it in a egg." She plucked it out and handed it over while adding, "Love the idea by the way. Last time I just hid little toys and candy around my shop, I was finding the eggs several months latter so I don't think I'm doing that again." She laughed as she remembered the excitement of the kids who came into her bookstore looking for a new read and came out with a little spring trinket. One of the many perks of having her own store.
