This was the last dragon she was ever going to hunt in this god forsaken place and she was going to make sure her children never had to come here. If she ever had children. The thought troubled her more and more recently, her internal clock ticking away and making her jittery. What if, what if she asked her husband to have children? Would it even be possible? Xenosa sighed and yelled out at the top of her lungs into the cold. Why for once couldn’t her life go as she pleased or as she planned? It was so unfair.

Speaking of children... Red was bored. She had set out to wrestle something, something fierce, but so far the little belligerent Aiskala dovaa hadn't found anything worth fighting. She hadn't found anything at all. She'd fight a bouken at this rate, just to have some action. The shout made her jump, her ice claws growing from her hands with practiced speed. Her heart raced as she scanned the tundra, an eager (and hopeful) look on her face. Was it something to fight? A silhouette in the distance seemed to say so. Slowly, she stalked towards it. Maybe this would be her big break, and she would have her fight after all! (111/300)

Xenosa took a deep breath, setting out again to find an Aiskala to rip into. The last one before she returned home, or so she hoped. Xen found what she was looking for soon enough, and lowering herself close to the tundra. Her final kill? Oh yes. Xenosa stalked forward slowly, stopping whenever the dragons head popped up to scan the horizon. It was feeding on something and when it saw there was no danger it moved back to its kill. The wind was on her side, it would never smell her coming. Xenosa grabbed her dagger and then another. Almost there.

It was an Orderite, which did not preclude the availability of a fight. Red would have fought anything. But, as she stalked towards the Orderite, she realized that the Orderite was stalking something else. Ohhh? It didn't take long for Red to catch sight of the dragon, and she grinned even wider. This was perfect! She could beat up a dragon AND beat up an Orderite. Chances were, from the way they were dressed, with all those brassy bells and whistles and pro-fess-ionally made clothing, that they were some kind of civilized city folk. What they were doing out here was none of Red's business, but she could still show this big older Orderite the superiority of the wild. She could totally kick this lady's a**. But first... The dragon. Red stalked forward rapidly, not caring if she took the dragon by surprise, though, judging from the look on its face (and the strangled sound it made) when she jumped out of a nearby snowdrift, icicle claws out and sharp, whooping a wild war whoop as she came down onto the dragon, it was very surprised... Xenosa stared as a child threw itself out from where ever she had been hiding and went for the dragon. The Orderite was momentarily just as stunned as the dragon as she watched the events unfold before her. Well, she wasn’t about to let that… Looked like a Dovaa, the useless race as she called them. Xenosa charged in wings opening from her back and she was up in the air throwing a dagger at the dragon’s chest and aiming for the heart. Let the Dovaa get killed by distracting the dragon while she went in for the final blow.

Red crashed down on the dragon, her icicle claws out, and the dragon barely had the time to respond with a swipe of its claws before she tackled it down. She hung onto its feathery, furry mane, trying to get a good hold to claw at it in typical Red fashion. It bucked, trying to throw her off, and she hung on, whooping with glee as she raised her claws to strike. She clawed at it, again and again, the blood staining the dragon's fur as it scratched at her with a hindclaw, trying to get rid of the annoyance. It was so distracted, that the pain of the dagger piercing its chest barely registered until it felt its life leave it. It looked down, surprised, at the hilt of the dagger before making a strained choking sound and collapsing. Red leapt nimbly from its body, gave the beast a kick as it breathed its last, and turned to the orderite. “Hey! You! Lady!” she shouted, as the dragon disintegrated, “Fight me!”

“I am not going to fight some hapless child.” Xenosa made a face and moved to collect what was hers, she did avoid the Dovaa as much as possible. Keeping a good eye on her just in case the girl decided to try anything. And just for good measure when she thought she’d seen the girl moving the tiniest inch, her hand moved quickly to throw a dagger with speed at the girls feet. “You do not want to mess with me little girl. I will have zero remorse leaving your corpse to rot in this wasteland.” Perhaps some threats might change her mind.

Initially, Red was offended. Hapless?! Child?! She totally was neither! She was a big, strong, Aiskala Dovaa! She could even roar, which was great fun. But then the lady talked tough – super tough – and had a thrown dagger to prove it. Red looked at the dagger with awe – expertly thrown, it was also sharp: really sharp. And it was pretty clear that the lady had wanted to throw it there. “Neat.” she said, picking up the dagger and turning it around, “You're really good at that.” She tossed the dagger back over to Xenosa, landing it on its side a few feet away from the Orderite: it was not an offensive throw. “How'd you throw it so fast? Can you teach me?” she looked at the lady askance. “What else can you do with them daggers?”

The Orderite went to pick up the dagger and sheathed it. “I am indeed, very good at that.” Xen gave the girl a smirk. The girl wanted her to teach her? A Dovaa? Xenosa rolled a dagger in between her hands, did she teach? “I don’t teach.” The Orderite covered her head again. “You keep out of trouble or one day something is going to come back and bite you. And I mean really bite you.” And with that the Orderite turned and began her way out of the cold dessert. She was looking forward to a nice hot bath after this.

Well, what kind of bullshit was that, not teaching? Red grumbled something that could have been If you weren't so pretty... but it was hard to tell. As it was, the Orderite lady was walking away, wasn't going to teach her, and obviously not going to fight her. “You too!” she called after her, before picking up her share of the kill and continuing her wandering... she would get stronger yet, and then that Orderite lady would see: When the world bit, Red bit back.
