Spring Showers Prompt 1
Solo or RP Format Can be used toward Solo or RP req
After the frigid chill of the harsh winter had left Tendaji, it seemed that most were happy to just return to their normal routines, though the normal routine didn’t seem to be what the weather had in mind. It wasn’t long before almost everywhere noticed the way that the winter air had seemed to push precipitation onto the land in its place. Rain flowed seemingly non-stop, reaching all the areas of Tendaji, even frozen Zena saw its share of rain, though the temperatures were still much too cold to support such a thing and rain turned to hail, which froze over the ground.
The critters of Tendaji only wanted to seek shelter from their flooded homes and the wet downpour that surrounded them. They found their way into homes, huts, sheds, anywhere that could stay dry - and preferrably warm.

"She wants to leave, y'know," Dravi hummed as he rested back against the colorful cushions and blankets that made up most of the Haven of Pearls' seatery. His voice was low, just a drawl of sound resounding out over the more muted noise of scurrying paws. He plucked a piece of bread between his fingers, slowly shredding it down to tiny crumb-sized pieces. Watching the mundane, methodical rhythm his fingers made as they tore at each little scrap. The sky had grown dark long ago; most had returned to the homes, leaving the streets empty and quiet. This late (or early, more likely), the hybrid man was accustomed to being on his own. Despite the sort of 'residence' he imagined that he shared with Khalel, she did have an actual home to return to - one that imposed curfews, obviously - and she didn't frequently join him at this hour. Since she took his bushi home with her, Dravi was left to his own devices for the duration of the night.
"And there's nothing wrong with that," he continued assuredly, palm dipping out to deposit a small handful of crumb-bites to the wayside. One of the larger ward, who'd been sitting expectantly nearby, rapidly approached, drawing as many of the crumbs into its paws as it could before quickly retreating into the shadows; and its nest.
Dravi's head tipped from the pillow as he observed the scurrying creature. When the rains came in, a whole pack of ward had made their way underground, finding the Haven almost instantly. They kept to themselves during the day, or maybe they had another locale they liked to frequent. Dravi didn't see them often, and he wasn't sure if Khalel had even noticed them, herself. At night, when all was quiet, he could here them scurrying. They made tiny squeaks of communication within their ranks, and the golden-eyed lad couldn't help but fancy that they were talking about him; the two-legger in their home.
Or maybe they complained about their days just like people. He didn't know.
In any event, tonight he found himself with leftovers from his picnic with his hybrid lassie. Skadravi disliked to waste precious things like food, and if the ward were hungry, they deserved to eat just as much as he did, scraps or not. Besides, they were doing him a favor by keeping him company. A host should feed his guests.
He started on a second roll as the remains of the first were carted away. "I just feel like... Hm, how to explain...? I'm the man of this relationship." He shifted a little, sitting up and puffing out his chest. A ward scrabbled away from him with due haste. "I should be able to... do more for her. You've seen her-" he gestured to a cornered creature. "-so you know what she's like. Pampered noble girl with a bold tongue." Dravi sifted back onto his pillows, nestling down again, his dark lashes painting a crescent over his cheeks. "Very bold tongue... Very delectably defiant and sinfully inviting-"
A ward scurried across him, making a grab with its teeth for the roll before high-tailing it away. "You're right. Sorry. Impolite conversation for public. With the size of those ears, they must be particularly sensitive. Anyway, if she's leaving- if we're leaving, I- Hmm..."
The sound drew out before petering off into nothing. Dravi's gaze scanned for the ward, and with a nudge to the picnic basket, the few remaining treats toppled to the floor, rolling out only to be swiped up instants later. "My mother told me I could take whatever I needed from the house. She insists that it's hers too. And what's hers is mine. But I think we all know that's not really what my father- step father, sorry- thinks... If I tried to take anything from his house, I'd be treated like any petty old thief. Maybe worse."
"He's not fond of me, if you couldn't tell. On the other hand-" The ward had all but disappeared back into the shadows, now that Dravi had nothing else to offer them. They couldn't be terribly far. He doubted he could imagine those teeth shearing into their food. "-it isn't as though I have a great plethora of options by way of... obtaining the means to appropriately provide for her. Travel isn't exactly easy, certainly not across a desert, so... if I'm going to be the man, I need to do what needs doing. Damn the risks. Damn them all."
"And to be fair, my dear step-daddy has known me for many years now. I'm sure he'll be perfectly proper, no matter the outcome." Skadravi tipped back, crossing his arms behind his head and settling. "Nothing to worry about."
