Roll a Nine: Seashore Field: Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times). This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

It was time to break him in. Yin stepped up into the stadium again, waiting for his favorite gym leader again. Being alone there for a moment was good though, it'd give his deerling enough time to adjust to the field, or so he hoped. He knew there was a high chance that Ryder would loose, but the young one had to learn one way or the other.
Without further hesitation, he released Ryder into the field. The pokemon looked around once aware that he was even out of his pokeball. He 'pawed' the sand, finding the texture very interesting to him, then proceeded to prance around in a circle, watching the ground shift as he did. It was quite strange to the little one.
It's ears twitched a bit as it looked up, hearing someone approach.

Lyle smiled as he stepped into the stadium to see the beach. He seemed to get this one a lot lately. Sometime he'd have to try just setting the stadium to this field and letting his pokemon play. It'd be a private beach!
He had other things to think about now. This would be his first battle with his newest pokemon, and he suspected she would enjoy this field. Half of it anyway. He tossed out a pokeball to release a Flygon, who hovered over the sandy part of the field. Her rapidly beating sets of wings kicked up a small cloud of dust beneath her.

Yin gave a small wave towards Lyle before he watched him summon that gorgeous Flygon of his. It was an absolute beauty.
Deerling however, did not look as impressed, ears pulling back and eyes growing wide, he dashed to hide behind Yin. Yin, however, was ready for that and put his arms out, getting ahold of the pokemon and turning him around. " No more of that, Ryder, time to stand your ground." He moved the deerling forward a few feet, ryder's hooves dragging in the sand.
It stared up at the dragon type, panting quickly and occasionally glancing back at his trainer. Yin gave the deerling a pat, " Come on now, you can do this."
The deerling swallowed loudly, its ears perking again as it stood up straight.
" That's it..." Yin backed away from the Deerling, getting out of harms way before starting the battle, " Now, Ryder, use charm!". He knew this was sort of an elementary move, but it would be good for starting the sensitive creature off.
Ryder blinked a few times, then nodded, its ears flopping as it did. It then got into sort of fighting position, looking up at the flygon with a serious yet confident look. It inhaled, looking as if it were about to roar. " Bleeeeet!!" it pouted cutely, trying to look as dangerous as it could, but ultimately, just looked less harmless.

Jade looked down at the little Deerling and tilted her head. The little fawn was really quite cute. It seemed almost a shame to have to hurt her.
Lyle decided to ignore the attack fro the moment and start attacking. "Jade, use Signal Beam," he instructed.
His pokemon nodded her head, then narrowed her eyes at Ryder. Time to focus. Her eyes flashed and she opened her mouth, shooting a beam of shifting colors at the deer.

Ryder's ears lifted when he saw the beam begin to charge, then his ears pulled back and he tried running! Unfortunitally, the sand wouldn't give him any grip, and made a sharp squeel as he was hit, right on the butt.
Ryder looked back to his tender but, seeing a little smoke come off the charred the fur. The deerling then glared up at Flygon, as if that attack was completely uncalled for and rude.
This was what Yin was hoping for, and took advantage, " Alright, Ryder, use Sand attack!"
Ryder nodded, and promptly began kicked up sand at the flygons face.

Jade was honestly surprised to have sand tossed up in her face. Since she was from the desert and kicked up a small sandstorm everywhere she went, she was used to sand flying around. The transparent covers on her eyes even protected them from being harmed by the sand. Still, it was flung at her with enough force to hurt. Lyle decided to switch tactics briefly. "Jade, toughen up with Power-up Punch." His pokemon balled her hands into fists and took a ready stance, preparing to continue the battle.
