Spring Showers
Prompt 1

Solo or RP Format
Can be used toward Solo or RP req

After the frigid chill of the harsh winter had left Tendaji, it seemed that most were happy to just return to their normal routines, though the normal routine didn’t seem to be what the weather had in mind. It wasn’t long before almost everywhere noticed the way that the winter air had seemed to push precipitation onto the land in its place. Rain flowed seemingly non-stop, reaching all the areas of Tendaji, even frozen Zena saw its share of rain, though the temperatures were still much too cold to support such a thing and rain turned to hail, which froze over the ground.

The critters of Tendaji only wanted to seek shelter from their flooded homes and the wet downpour that surrounded them. They found their way into homes, huts, sheds, anywhere that could stay dry - and preferrably warm.

Eyes cracking open at the morning light, Jawaad let out a soft groan. “Morning already?” She had barely gotten a bit of sleep from the hail pelting her rooftop. You’d think she’d be used to it after living in Secer all of her life, but spring was one of the worst seasons for her. Sure, there was always ice, that’s something you can’t escape when you live in the mountains. It was the hail that got to her. Oh, the noise. She couldn’t stand it and she wouldn’t get a lick of sleep until summer drew closer. Seeing how it was daylight, Jawaad figured she might as well greet the day. Pushing herself up with a small stretch, she ran a hand through her hair, stopping as she came across a knot. What a way to start the day.

Making her way out into the main room, Jawaad shook her head at the hail striking off of the roof. As she continued through the house though, something didn’t feel right. Her feet were cold. Considering how warm the hut usually was, that was just… odd. Glancing around, a frown lingered. Did someone come in and not close the door all the way? Was a door open? It didn’t take long to see the door hanging open. “Father? Ruelash?” Her ears perked, a soft rummaging was coming from the room over. This wasn't like them at all, her family wouldn't leave a door hanging open. Expecting the worst, she rummaged for a utensil from the cabinet. No one would enter her home without her helping them right out.

What she wasn't expecting was the small furry face came to greet her as she turned. The humorously grabbed spoon dropped to the ground. “Oh no… No no no no! How did you get in?!” It was just the one, right? Right?” Oh how wrong she was. Edging around the Roati in sight, she glanced into the next room and a small gasp escaped her. Six... Eight... Ten. Ten of them in her house. She was dumbfounded. Jawaad couldn’t even begin to think how this could have happened, she had to get them out, at least before they either broke something or her family came back. She couldn't even imagine how they would react. They all glanced at the female, letting out soft calls; their steps silent as they moved backwards from her, eyes darting to and fro.

One bravely stood before Jawaad, his eyes issuing a challenge to remove them. Defiance shone through, just as his want to protect his small herd. Something resonated within Jawaad, that protective nature was something that she could understand. Who wouldn’t want to escape this disgusting hail? But her house wasn’t going to turn into the next animal sanctuary or petting zoo. She couldn’t turn down the challenge presented to her. Leaning down, she quickly scooped up her spoon. It would have to make due.

Skirting further around the small creatures, the male never breaking eye contact with her, she slowly made her way behind them. “Aya! OUT!” she cried as the females scattered. Cursing under her breath, she continued the chase, never relenting as they jumped on the furniture and cried out. One… two… three of the females were out, but Jawaad couldn’t pause to evaluate the next best course of action, even if she had wanted to. While the others ran about or out, the male gave chase to Jawaad, horns pointed for her. He was two feet of protective fury just wanting to give Jawaad a taste of horns at threatening his girls.

Another few popped through the door and with the majority out, the male followed, giving Jawaad a glare as they ran as fast as they could out of the open door and onto the icy path from the hut. She could have just let them run, closing the door, but pride got the best of her as she ran out behind them, “You better stay out!” Not that they would care, but victory and pride swelled in her chest and surged through her. She had defended her home from the herd of tiny terrors. But, with that thought, her feet came out from under her, the icy path getting the best of her.

Sprawled out, she just closed her eyes and groaned, bringing her hand across her face. Success? Hearing the groan, the defiant male Roati she had spotted hopped over to her, nosing at her side with a baa that sounded strangely like a laugh. Yes, that was as close to success as she could muster.
