Irvine paced back and forth at the edge of the lake - Mirro te Weavia - with his gaze upon the ground. He was restless. Earlier today, an odd feeling had swept over him. It had been a mixture of awe, desire, excitement, and curiosity. It was something he had never felt before. Though he could not fully express in words what this mixture of feelings was, he was certain of what he should do. He was going to set out on a journey that would take him out of the lands controlled by the Water Tribe. He didn't know what to expect, but this didn't scare him. He was confident in his decision. It was a confidence that he had never before possessed. Till now he had always looked to others to make choices for him, but now he was making a decision on his own based upon his desire for knowledge as well as his own curiosity.
Irvine stopped pacing long enough to stare up at the moon overhead for a brief moment and judged the night to still be young. There was a soft cool breeze blowing across the lake's water that lightly rustled the leaves of nearby trees. The water rippled and lapped at the ground just three feet away. The crickets chirped as the frogs croaked, and their pitch rose and fell like the current tide beating against the shoreline. These sounds were normal, and they made the night feel lonely as he stood there by himself with nothing but the moon's rippling reflection for company.
With a sigh he turned his gaze away from the moon and began to pace in a circle again; his gaze returned to the ground as it had been before. His thoughts now turned to his best friend, Aysu. He had asked her earlier for her to meet him here tonight. This spot had been one of their favorite hangouts when they first awoke. He wondered now if Aysu was going to show. He wanted to talk to her before he left in the morning, but it was getting late and soon he would have to rest if he was truly to set out on his quest at dawn.

Okay. I got it up and I'll keep the word count up to date with each new post. Obviously I'm not including the formatting stuff in the count, just the raw text.
