The Shatter Rift Cave is a highly dangerous, hazardous rocky, dark, cold and wet cave in Kumogakure. Shinobi come here to test their abilities and skills. Some even come to try to survive. The cold and dampness is also very threatening all in itself. So wet in fact, katon would be reduced by 2 ranks due to this environment, Nothing inside the cave can be lit on fire because of this. If a fire was caused inside it would be put out immediately. Lightning something dry that was brought from outside the cave would work however. Shinsetsu and Hyouton will have immunity to this cold however.
Climate Rules • Being in the thread for over 10 posts will begin to cause frostnip. (Curable by heat or being near a fire.) • Being in the thread for over 15 posts without Heat or a fire will cause frostbite. (Curable by high heat or resting by a fire) • Being in the thread for over 20 posts begins to cause Hypothermia. (Reguardless of the previous stages it will require Immediate warming or resting by a fire for 5 posts) It is advised to leave immediately and seek medical attention. [After 20 posts the dampness will have sunk into all things brought into the cave, firewood, clothes, scrolls everything would become unburnable.]
Frostnip: A superficial and reversible but may cause significant pain when the extremity rewarms.
Frostbite: The condition in which skin and the tissue just below the skin begin to freeze. • Pain: Can be throbbing • Pins and needles • Skin burning sensation • Stinging sensations • numbness • Blue skin, blistering skin, poor circulation.
Heat Stroke: The electrical conducting system of the brain and heat are very sensitive to decreasing core body temperatures and start to fail as the body cools. The body temperature less than 95 F (35 C), Causing a dangerously low body temperature. When your body temperature drops, your heart, nervous system and other organs can’t work normally. Left untreated, Hypothermia can eventually lead to complete failure of your heart and respiratory system and lead to death. • Hunger and Nausea will give way to apathy as the core body temperature drops. •lethargy • affected person often wishes to remove clothes feeling as though they are keeping them cold, if this is done the body temperature will drop faster. • Very low body temperature • Confusion/dizziness • Slurred speech • Loss of consciousness leading to coma (Sleep in this state can lead to death)
Creatures, Items and Hazards
Inside this dangerous area, certain creatures will emerge during your ventures through the area. Certain things can be found as well during time spent inside. Some hazards can be walked into depending the environment.
Instructions:
Once inside the thread every individual RPC or every group of RPC must roll (3) three, (4) four sided dice every (3) three posts. The first dice will decide what you encounter. 1 = Creature (encountering a creature that poses a threat) 2 = Hazard (Walking into or discovering some type of environmental hazard.) 3 = Item (Finding some sort of treasure or useful item) 4 = Nothing (Proceed like normal)
When rolling 1, 1, 4 and up to 1, 4, 4 quote the following people. One of these mods will assume the role of the creature.
1) Abnormal Bat: A colony of mutant bats attack the person or persons in the cave. They have sharp teeth but no poison. The constant fluttering of their wings and screeching voices can disrupt most concentration type jutsu. + 100 AC
2) Venatooth Slugs : The ground suddenly has become crawling with a wet slimy moving substance. It turns out your ankle deep in Venatooth slugs swarming about. They are drawn to warmth but blind by nature. If they crawl onto a target and sense warmth inside their teeth extend into the source. If this happens the poison is instantly administered into the bloodstream. Once this takes place after 1 post the target becomes paralyzed. Unable to move, They have developed this natural offensive poison to better their chances at having a decent meal. + 100 AC
3)Flying Imp: This is a much more devious creature that prides itself on simply taking the form of whatever the target likes most and drawing them in for a quick jutsu.+200 AC
4) Keiga Hatchling: This baby dragon seems completely opposite of the normal creatures in the cave. It seems extremely friendly to all outsiders. But there might be more to this creature then meets the eye. This creature actually is cleverly disguising its true nature with a very domesticated dragon like persona. What this creature is actually doing is tricking its targets into making eye contact. Once this is done it can literally steal the users favorite or most used jutsu for itself. Regardless of element or bloodline.
Medium Creatures
1) Giant Spider: The giant spider grows to be about 5 meters tall and 10 meters wide. Having eight legs with what look like long hairs extending off of them from base of body to its feet. The spider is safe to assume it possesses a type of poison.
2) Sonic Slicer: This Hulkish creature moves about the cave in a very fast manor. It is unknown how these creatures reproduce but there are very few residing in the cave. Running into one would be a rarity in itself. It has very sharp weaponry protruding from its body in many directions. Its strength and speed seem to be of the higher scale. It also is not hard after careful examination that the creature seems to be blind. Moving solely on sound and movement. Any minor sounds will trigger this creature to attack. It acts much like it has rabies and thinks little about what it is doing. Once angered it is a slave to that emotion until what it is after is silenced. It prefers a very quiet living environment +400 AC
3) Rift Wolf - This wolf can possess any combination of elements that is desired of the tamer. Even some techniques thought to not be accessable. Few techniques from Lava, Ice, cloud etc. Not much is known about this creature other than the close relation to the wolf species and their relative similar behavior to them. +400 AC
4) Dark Wing - This large mutent of a bat has evolved from chakra exposure. This bat has essentially become the Alpha ammung the bats in the cave. They treat it as if its their leader. Large wings and sharp fangs make it much more deadly than the normal bat. +500 AC
Strong Creatures
1) Keiga Dragon - The mother of the Keiga Hatchlings. This also has the same abilities. This dragon was rumored to live within the cave but everyone discredited the rumors due to a dragon needing to have a sky or freedom to move. This dragon lives deep within the cave inside of its lair, above its lair is a large crack in the cave showing the sky. This Dragon has a way of flying low out of the crack to get its fresh air. It also collects treasures as it flys around + 1000 AC • Elemental Glare - This dragon possesses the mastery over the art of stealing jutsu from its target. Making direct eye contact with its victim it will steal an entire element of jutsu. This removes the element from the target while giving it to the dragon for the duration of the technique. (5 Post duration) • Gale Wind Palm - create a powerful burst of charka in shape of a claw from his right hand which can strike out against his enemy. Should the claw lose cohesiveness, the Wind chakra will explode in a concussive blast. Using a bladed weapon, the user launches a sharp burst of wind Chakra from the tip toward the target. After traveling more than 10 meters, or if the technique becomes unstable, the burst of Chakra explodes in a concussive blast A - Rank • Echo Assault Skill - The user gathers chakra into their mouth and infuses their vocal chords as they release a burst of sound towards the opponent. If they manage to dodge it, that is the worst thing that can happen. The sound gets stronger as it bounces off of objects, but gets smaller as it goes on. • Silent Wind - A skill that is used for assassination purposes. The user sends off a burst of wind that lashes out, removing all sound within the area and making it impossible for either the user or the opponent to hear anything. S Rank Vacuum Sphere - Dragon will inhale air and then expel numerous penetrating wind bullets. The user inhales deeply and expels 3-4 penetrating wind bullets. The bullets have the power to blow through several buildings before dispersing. The user must be stationary to activate this technique. A Rank Hellfire Whirlwind - The dragon would let out a gullet full of flame in front of it as it whips its wings around causing the wind to rotate the fire around the dragon. This causes a protective vortex. B rank Fire Pit Technique - The dragon will swell up its chest and launch a blanket of fire onto the ground of the cave. This leaves little places to stand other than the walls. The dragon cares little about the flames as its skin repells them.
2) Desolate Oni - The Oni is a cursed armored skeletal creature that roams the Jagged scar on its lonesome. Some people think that some reanimation jutsu might still be in effect in this area which would explain a few things. It has a long jagged sword and strong armor on its legs and arms. Glowing yellow eyes bestowing fear into its victims. This Oni is capable of a wide range of abilities. It is also known to toy and stalk its food before trying to slaughter them. This is the most intelligent creature of the area. Essentially the king of the domain. Many have fallen victim to its tactics thinking they could outsmart it.
Hazards = 2
1) Quake – The area within the cave begins to let off a subtle rumble then shifts into a more violent one. Causes unbalance and loose stalagmites to become dislodged and fall from the roofing of the cave. Dodging is tricky with the shaking of the cave, it is better advised to use protective barriers. Note: 1 = Only some fall from the roofing, 2 = less balance, much of the roofing falls on targets, 3 & 4 = Almost unable to stand with such shaking, entire ceiling seems to be falling towards them.
2) Freezing Winds – Suddenly gusts of abnormally cold air start to rush through the cave. This would explain the extremely cold temperature inside already. Moisture in the air begins to freeze over and the walls start to ice up. Without forming some type of fire source or heat source the cold could freeze the blood inside of you after long. Note: 1 = 1 post, 2 & 3 = 2 posts, 4 = 3 posts
3) Cave in – Almost without warning the cave can have an abnormal amount of rocks fall from the roofing, sealing off certain exits and often trapping people where they are. If this happens the air within the room can become limited as well as make it even darker. The already low visibility can make it near impossible to see. After so many posts air will run out in the area for those caught in the area. Shortly after that the character will die. Note: 1 = A thin wall of rock blocks the path, 2 = A large wall of rock blocks the path, 3 = An enormous bolder blocks the path , 4 = A giant crystal casing falls into the pathways.
4) Bottomless Pit- A large hole forms by the ground crumbling beneath them. Find any way possible to not fall, the ground is nowhere in sight. Note: 1 = Man sized hole opens up below the target, 2 = A group sized hole opens below the targets, 3 = A room sized hole opens below the targets, 4 = the entire floor below the targets crumbles.

Peddler Ackles
Just outside of the cave stands a strange figure of small stature holding many odds and ins. Requested and provided sanctuary within the village of Kumogakure, he was welcomed in for a favor of their recently violent activities reported from within the Shattered Rift. He offers materials to help shinobi with the threats within but at a small cost. Although they provided a living quarters for him he still wishes to make a living.
< Flint > - 50 Ryo A small rock to help create a spark for making fires.
< Bundle of dry firewood > - 50 Ryo A small satchel of dried wood easy enough for making a decent fire within the cave.
< Spider venom antidote > - 150 Ryo An antidote to cure most arachnid paralysis venom before they fully take hold.
< Long Rope > - 50 Ryo A rope long enough to scale a mildly large mountain side.
< Torch x 3 > - 100 Ryo Light, sturdy sticks with cloth wrapped coal tipped ends.
< Dried Jerky x5 > - 150 Ryo Some dried beef, Ackles prides himself in his jerky and is what he makes most of his profits with.
Malakai entered the area giving a look around before approaching the peddler he had invited to Kumo. Thanking him profoundly for his services he reached into his pocket pulling some Ryo out to make a much needed purchase. Handing over 350 Ryo he draped the large roll of rope over his shoulder. Tucked the torches into his belt and the single spider venom into his pocket. Turning towards his oncoming students he wondered if they might desire to buy any provisions. What he had gotten SHOULD have been enough for their jouney but at the same time he was unsure of exactly what was ahead. He very well could need their assistance as much as they would need his.

It has grown so large that it started to effect the residing creatures within. So much chakra emanating off of the stone that some have grown exponentially in size and hostilities. The normal creatures that were known to live within the cave were slugs, spiders, some wolves seeking shelter and some rumors have spread around that a dragon lived within. Not many ventured inside due to the sever cold within. Find and retrieve the chakra stone in hopes to return the cave to its natural order.

Hitomi followed her Sensei silently, when she heard him talking to someone, then the exchange of money. She walked up, after she heard what he had purchased, then bought some food, jerky the man told her, and some spider venom antidote as well. She hated spiders anyway, so it didn't hurt if two of them had the antidote. She handed over the 300 ryo that it all cost, then moved over to her sensei to wait for all the others to show.
I choose the hard road, not the easy one, because nothing worth doing is easy. I will prove that I'm not someone to be pushed aside. I will not be forgotten.
Following Hitomi and their sensei, Kiyoshi also approached the trader, figuring it’d be a good idea to grab a few supplies himself. Grabbing a few torches and some antidote himself, since he would likely be the one to be in close to anything fighting, Kiyoshi handed the man the 250 ryo and tucked the vial and torches into his belt.

Following his squad Aiden would look around the cave itself and look towards the peddler of which made him curious. Never could be to safe as he handed the peddler 100 ryo to obtain rope and the firewood. If things came to gigantic spiders Aiden knew just light them on fire and things would go well.
"Even the way ahead lies through a river of blood."
Seeing his students purchases several items he felt as if they knew what it meant to be prepared. Ready to enter the cave now he decided not to put it off any longer. He actually did not wish to go in there perhaps more than the students did. 'What good is there to look forward to freezing temperatures, abnormally large creatures and all for a stone.' Thinking to himself as he stepped inside. Having one torch lit he held it out illuminating the finer details of the inner sanctum of shatter rift. He wasn't quite sure, but he thought he saw something on the ground retreat back into darkness when the torch light pushed its way in. The damp rocks made it look as though it could have been slippery if they weren't careful. The torch gave off some warmth. Not enough to make the trip comfortable by any means but enough to keep away the freezing cold. Before going too deep into the cave he turned to the others and watched Hitomi for a moment to see if she could actually manage her way inside. The stepping was very rough and random. There was hardly a path inside. He thought it best to see what she would do in order to navigate through rather than belittle her and insist one of her teammates helped her.
Deeper inside the cave he started to notice that the narrow paths opened up into larger caverns. Reaching their first opening he thought it time to start their first fire just to go over some tactics and better methods to employ. Making a tiny bundle of his firewood on the ground he made it large enough for them to only have short fire. Glancing up at Kiyoshi and Aiden. Call him a cheapskate, but he did not purchase flint for a reason. He would have used the torch but he was still using it to scan the area for any possible creatures.

Hitomi could feel that she was being watched, and she could only assume that it was because she was blind, and she was being judged. She huffed slightly and used her walking cane to better feel her way along the rough, barely there, path. Hitomi also used her echolocation to help her mentally visualize the cave. When the echos got back to her hyper sensitive ears she frowned, something was moving around in the cave, but far enough that she couldn't get a good mental picture of what it was. She lifted her chin slightly, she'd deal with it when she got to that challenge, it was all she could do.
When Malakai stopped, and she heard him fiddling with wood she stood off to the side slightly, close enough to be seen by the others, but she honestly preferred the chill of the cave to the warmth of a fire, it was better suited to her bloodline, and her own naturally chill skin. She turned her head this way and that, so as to get the best mental visuals with her hearing; never once did she stop clicking her tongue either. "I can hear things, just out of my proper range, so I can't tell what they are yet. But this cave does feel... strange."

Following Malakai and Hitomi into the cave, Kiyoshi stepped his way carefully along the path, his agility and footwork from taijutsu training coming in very handy. As the cave opened up, he watched Hitomi wander over by herself as Malakai set up some firewood. Walking over to the pile of tinder, Kiyoshi kneeled down for a second, “H-here… I-I cccc-can l-light it f-f-for you.” The twitchy genin would place his hands on the ends of the firewood and pulse his chakra through it, converting it to katon. After a few seconds, the wood burst into flames and Kiyoshi stood back up. Hearing what Hitomi said , Kiyoshi walked over to her, “W-what do y-y-you ssssss-see?” It sounded like a stupid question to ask a blind girl, but he knew how good her echolocation was from their time together in the academy. Standing next to her, Kiyoshi crouched down and focused his bakuton into his index and middle fingertips, poking the ground in front of Hitomi’s feet. A loud pop would sound and echo slightly through the cave. Kiyoshi stood back up, hoping that noise would help Hitomi visualize deeper into the cave.

Kneeling next to the flame Aiden would take balto from from his head and lay the pup near the flame. Aiden would look around the cave, surveying their surroundings and sniffed the air. The beasts within caught his notice before anything else. Aiden would being to shake slightly, both in fear and in excitement as Balto would wag his tail in the warmth.

The light illuminated the small what now seemed to be mine shaft. Considering they had just entered the area must have been used at one time to gather materials for profits. Mine carts and damage tracks seem to lead in different directions. Within one of the mine carts lays a brittle skeleton. In the skeletal hand lays a small pendant. Although very dusty still maintains enough shimmer to sparkle lightly from the glow from the fire. The creatures that they had heard and seen earlier seemed to have scattered back into the darkness outside the radius of the flame. The warmth and light seems unwelcome to such creatures.

First Raikage's Pendant Rank A Return the pendant to the current Raikage. This was thought to be long lost to the rest of the artifacts from the previous lords and ladies. Will be rewarded handsomely for such a find. It is unclear who was holding the pendant due to such decomposed bones but they must have been close to the first to have such a treasure of theirs. Or a thief, but ether way you found it! A rank rewards for all members of the party
Standing up holding the torch back up to see a bit better of the room. "Well we hardly even made our way in here and we discovered something interesting. I know this is hardly the time or place for a history lesson, but this cave was used for mining probably many many years ago. Something opened up deep within the cave causing the temperature of a normal cave to drop severely to what it is now. Not only that once these other creatures started appearing casualties started to pile up and it became more effort than it should have been to keep workers motivated to work in a place where their life was constantly threatened. They enlisted shinobi to stand guard within the cave but we even started burying our own." Sighing some to himself he looked the rest of them over."I noticed you have been keeping a close eye on the surroundings since we have entered, I am glad for this because people at my level of skill and higher have fallen victim. I will be depending on you as much as you all will me."
Looking back to the fire for the moment he spoke more at ease. "If you wish to search some of the area feel free, There might be some valuable materials about that you could catch a nice coin for once we leave."

Hitomi turned a smile in the direction of where she could hear Kiyoshi, then thanked him for the added sound to aid her echolocation. "It seems though, that whatever it was, retreated, at least for now. I don't think they like the fire much." Hitomi turned and listened to Malakai describe where they were and nodded once he told them they could explore. She used her clicks and her walking stick to explore around, careful of her footing so as not to trip herself up. She wanted to gain as much knowledge of this place as she could.
Hitomi wandered a bit from the immediate range of the fire, but still close enough that she felt she could be seen by her team mates, and close enough that she could feel just enough heat to know which direction the fire lay in so she could easily return. She traced her delicate fingers along the rock walls and mapped them in her mind as she went, then all but stumbled over a track, since she'd forgotten to pay attention to her feet, she blushed slightly and hoped no one had seen that, ashamed she'd let herself forget to pay attention to more than just her hands. She used her walking stick to prod and follow the track, then pretty much stumbled into a cart. She bit her lip and carefully ran her fingers over the metal edging of it. "I think I might have found a mining cart, I'm going to see if there's anything worth salvaging in here, can't be too prepared." Hitomi called back to her team mates so they'd know what she was doing.
