Being out in the desert so long, Esme and Minerva had run out of supplies. Minerva had also wanted to spend a few days in town to properly recuperate before continuing on. Esmeralda had decided that she wanted to spend a few more days in the desert and had gathered some supplies before going off again. The Peisio simply didn’t want to stay in town, she didn’t know why but she felt more at home on the desert. Plus, this gave her some time to do her own kind of check up on the Kiandri without Minerva wanted to kill them on the job.
The Dovaa had put up her tent a little ways from some Kiandri, mostly they were all by themselves so Esmeralda observed them one by one. The Peisio sat herself down on the sand and glanced around. What was she going to do all by herself now? It was about afternoon, maybe she could get closer to the Kiandri to get a better look. Esmeralda moved away from her camp and slowly made her way to a mound of sand and settled there to watch the dragons. She was much closer to one of them, hopefully it wouldn’t spot her.

The lands of Eowyn were a stark difference compared to what Soudul had to offer. Where the lands of the Oblivionites were dark and the cities large with towering, beautifully crafted architecture, Eowyn's lands were...well, sorely lacking, in Ebalia's opinion. And somehow, someway, she had managed to find herself out in the scorching desert. How she had managed that was beyond her, honestly. The days on the ship with Naita and Hiyuu all started to run together after a while, one after the other. One day they had set sail from her homeland, and the next they were in this strange, foreign place, but no matter. It is what Ebalia had wanted, and she was determined to make the most of it.
This sand, however, was not doing her any favors. Whenever she walked, she found herself sinking into the ground with each step. More then a particle or two had also managed to sneak into her boots as well, a feeling that made the mage cringe and glower with irritation. How annoying! She never had this problem back home -- and if she did, it was because she fell or something, not from simply walking. The one thing the sands did boast, however, were kiandri dragons, and it was for that very reason that Ebalia even considered spending time under the blazing sun. She was on the hunt for dragon orbs.
Yet another woman -- a Dovaa, by the look of things, seemed to have the same idea as well. At the notion that someone might kill off the dragons before she could, the Oblivionite couldn't help but glare. Well, this woman wasn't going to get them if she could help it! Ebalia would work her magic, and she would strike out at them first before Esme had any idea what was going on. And why not have a bit of fun, while she was at it. Oh, yes; this was going to be interesting.
Without a word, Ebalia slipped Lifedrinker out from the sheath he was in at her side. She then cut herself, a deep wound that would add to her collection of scars once it healed, and then worked her magic. Taking over the movements of one of the kiandri took little effort on her part, and now all that was left was to wreak havoc. As Esme got closer, Ebalia made the dragon she was controlling jolt its head in her direction and look straight at her. It then growled, though not of his own accord, but then sharply turned away again. The helpless dragon then proceeded to pounce on its peer next to it, sinking his fangs into his neck and ripping at the meat. Whatever stealth Esme had hoped to use would no longer work anymore.
The dragon that was attacked struggled against its attacker, but it was no use. It's life slipped away quickly, and he collapsed into the sands, dead, without any attempt to fight back. Ebalia let the kiandri have control of its functions again, and at this point she couldn't help but laugh out loud, giving away her location behind Esme at some distance. "Oh, that never gets old!"

The Dovaa squinted through her glass wondering how the dragon had caught her location. She was an expert at this kind of thing, years of experience under her belt and all. Something even odder happened though, the dragon pounced one of its comrades and killed the other Kiandri. That was not normal behavior; she knew that from experience too. What was going on here? And that’s when she heard the laughter from behind her and Esmeralda turned only to be so focused on the Oblivionite because of her binoculars that she put them down and frowned. Blood magic perhaps? Ekundayo had been able to pull off the same.
The Peisio Dovaa stood up to her full height, there was no use hiding now since she knew the Kiandri hadn’t spotted her on its own accord.
“Blood magic.” She concluded when she looked the girl over. She was about Minerva’s age. “I haven’t seen a blood mage in a while.” Esmeralda also didn’t want to think about the last blood mage she’d met, she still held Eku very close to her heart. “Are you out hunting?” Maybe it was all fun and games for her, Esme never really knew with Oblivionite.

Wasn't it obvious that she was out hunting? A kiandri had just killed another right in front of her, and it was clear that it didn't do it by itself. Of course, she was out hunting! What a stupid question. Still, Ebalia didn't say this out loud, and instead took the time to disappear into her shadow. A second later, the young woman reappeared, though this time it was through the Dovaa's shadow. Now that she was right behind the other woman, literally, she leaned in and whispered in an eerie voice. "Wouldn't you like to know?" And just as quickly as she appeared, she was gone again.
There were two kiandri dragons left now, both of whom were examining the corpse of their fallen brethren. Quietly, they looked at the dead dragon, and one nudged it gingerly with its head, as if to rouse it. Yet the fallen dragon didn't awaken. Unbeknownst to the two other dragons, Ebalia had reappeared from one of their shadows, her spellblade in hand. She would make quick work of disposing of these two stragglers, then she could collect the souls and be on her way.
Blood from the dead kiandri pooled in the sand, and the adept would use this to her advantage. Yet instead of taking the blood into the blade of her dagger as she normally did, Eba decided to do something else. She manipulated the blood that was already there, making it float up from the sand, and then form in a circular shape. The circle then moved around the head of one of the other kiandri and it looked not unlike a necklace. The young woman then twisted her hand, and then -- SLICE -- the dragon's head was severed from its body.
Two kiandri down, and only one left.
Now she had the blood of two whole dragons to work with. Excellent! Eyeless sockets could see the rubies on Lifedrinker glisten in the light, and it was then that Ebalia did her final attack. Utilizing the blood from both the fallen dragons, she used it to cover the third, and then laughed impishly. The dragon let out a shriek, a mixture of pain and horror, and then it started to crumple to the ground. Though it wasn't the full body of the dragon -- it was just the bones and grisly remains of what it used to be. Somehow, through whatever hellish magic that she practiced, she had managed to manipulate the blood to eat away at the flesh of the final dragon.
With the kiandri dead and posing no threat, Ebalia could relax a little. Nonchalantly, she slipped her spellblade back in its sheath, and then plucked the three dragon souls up from the sands. As she did this, she hummed a happy little tune, and it was clear from this alone that she was pleased with the carnage she had wreaked upon the unsuspecting dragons. Not only had she managed to get one orb, but she had gotten three! Perhaps Eowyn wasn't so bad after all?

Eku used to do that, appear and disappear to try and scare her. Young, it had worked on her but she was older now and the trick didn’t scare her as much. Esmeralda did turn around and cross her arms, frowning as she watched the Oblivionite girl completely obliterate the two dragons who had come to check on their fallen friend. It was a completely bloody mess, as far as Esmeralda knew she’d never seen such blood magic. Then again, Eku had been reluctant to show her his blood magic. It was such a long time ago it was hard to remember the facts. Well, the show was over there was only a bloody mess left. Esmeralda sighed softly and turned her back on the scene to head back to camp. She didn’t think this Oblivionite was in the mood to chat up a conversation.
