The Peisio Dovaa rummaged through their supplies as Minerva slept. They were getting quite low and now amount of foraging was going to be able to feed them. Esmeralda began to pack their things up and close down her tent. She’d wait for Minerva to get up before letting her know, she might want more stab at a Kiandri before they left but they definitely had to get going today. Esme cleaned up the rest and waited for Minerva to get up. Finally though she decided to wake her up gently otherwise they would run out of daylight in the day.
Minerva woke up when her mother woke her up. While she was half asleep she half listened to what the Peisio had to say but since the heat had retuned she finally got up. They needed to pack and get a move on because supplies were running low. Made sense, Minerva agreed but said she wanted to get one last Kiandri before they left. Esme agreed and they figured out they could snag one more dragon on their way out. Which was fine by her. Minerva began to pack her things and get ready to leave. Esme had done everything else except her tent at this point.
When they were ready to leave, Esmeralda began the slow walk back to the nearest city. It was going to take them at least a day or two at this pace which was cutting it a little too close for her liking. On top of that she’d promised Minerva that she’d be able to get one more hunt in before they completely left desert and she was going to hold up her side of the bargain on this one. Which was why when she spotted a Kiandri, Esmeralda crouched down low and dragged Minerva down with her.
“There, look. That’s your dragon.”
Minerva followed her mother’s gaze and shed her backpack to observe the Kiandri. She knew she was strong enough to take the dragon on, no problem there.
“Alright I’ll be right back.”
The Hybrid crept forward, it was a lot harder to go unnoticed with the sun beating down on you but that was okay. She was going to manage. Minerva threw the first hit and got a nice sizeable hole in the Kiandri’s hide on his back side. It turned on her and began to spit lightening at her which she deflected with ease. This was a weak dragon, it wouldn’t take her very long.
From the looks of it, Minerva had grown quite strong from their days out in the desert. Esmeralda was glad for this; the Kiandri she was fighting now was almost no match for her. She was destroying it with ease. When she returned she had the orb in hand and picked up her things as if she’d been asked to go do a simple chore.
“Ready?” Esmeralda got back up and began her walk again. Minerva had needed no healing which was a good thing. The day was escaping them pretty quickly however. Esme looked up to the fading sun.
“Think we should camp for now?” Esme nodded and they found a nice spot to camp out in.
“I’m going to start a fire.” There was little to pick up for fire wood, by the time Minerva was back with the needed supplies her mother had sat down because she couldn’t’ see anything. Minnie got to work on her fire and had it started in seconds. Her mother had set up the tents and Minerva took a seat which her mother got sinner started.
“I think we’ll reach the city by mid-day tomorrow. It will be nice to sleep in a proper bed for once.
“Yes it will.” Esmeralda made dinner quickly, cutting the portions a little so they could have some left for tomorrow. Then went to bed as Minerva did when the moon was high and the stars were the only brilliant thing in the sky.
The next morning they were up early for their journey, packed, and moved on. Minerva had been right and Esme was glad for that. They reached the town soon enough and Minerva took a room.
“I don’t think I’ll be joining you. I won’t be far away from the village but I’d rather sleep outside. You rest up.” Minerva didn’t argue with her, and Esme went to grab more supplies for the few days they’d be here. Once that was done, Esmeralda went to one of her favorite spots. She always camped out near this tree when she came to the desert, she didn’t know why but she just liked it here. Soon she’d have to return home though, her master title would be coming in effect soon and she wouldn’t be able to enjoy these outings as much as before. That made her sad but it was also what she’d worked for her whole life. The rest was history now.
