It was dusk as the stallion wandered through the forest, glass orb at his side already glowing with the light of fireflies. A smile was spread across his face and he hummed as he collected. This was his happy place. It did not matter that some considered him an ill omen - that he had not taken the lantern. He created his own light in life. The sun had set by the time he was finished, but the stallion did not return; instead choosing to explore. The glass orb was full with fireflies now, fluttering about. It set off a soft glow; enough that he could see a few steps in front of him and enough that he would be noticed. There was a larger glow in the distance from the nightly fires the herd lit but he moved away from them - preferring solitude when the fires were lit.

Weary from her long journey yet unable to find solace or rest among the thick forest..the mare had taken to wandering. Along beside those ever moving hooves hopped a somewhat chubby rabbit who would often pause to rest or brush comfortingly against the taller female's ankle. Finding a sense of peace out here all alone Willow wondered momentarily what her son was up to on a night like tonight, some small part of her broken little heart hoped Honovi lived a full happy life. A life where she would not cause him anymore grief or heartache. With all her minds wandering the mare hadn't even bothered to look where she was going, so that's why the sudden gentle glow up ahead caught her off guard. Slowing to a complete stop she tried to get a better glimpse but, the moonlight only offered so much brightness at this time of night. What if it was a mutant..or worse..what if it was a walker..with a sharp intake of breath the mare backpedaled, trying hard to avoid the rabbit which also seemed to be more frantic. Hopping about as Willow hurried off the path and into the nearby darkness to avoid being seen when the stranger passed by. Hopefully whomever it was hadn't heard the little racket they'd caused.

The sound of movement behind him had the stallion freeze for a moment, muscles on edge. He listened intently, waiting for the sound of an oncoming attack. His ears, however, were met with the sound of scrambling. He turned in the direction; eyes squinting as he peered into the darkness. What in the world was causing all that noise? Whatever it was, he was sure it wasn't going to attack him and so he let his curious nature take hold, slowly heading back. The glass bulb tinked against his side, fireflies still flitting about inside, giving off a soft glow. A few stray fireflies floated around, attracted to the light.
"Who's alone in the night?" He called out, stopping short from where he figured the sound originated from. "Don't you know the Moon has spies everywhere?"

Ears pinned back the mare stepped further into the dark shadows, the nervous thrumming within her chest hadn't let up. The sudden sound of a voice cutting through the night's silence caused Willow to inhale rather sharply..the rabbit she'd called 'daughter' for so very long burrowed closer within overly long fetlocks. If the owner of that voice hadn't caught scent or sight then maybe they'd have a chance at escaping the forest. However when the mare moved to peek around the sturdy tree trunk her turquoise blue orbs were startled to see a stallion standing on the path. All about flickered tiny fireflies. As if drawn to the rather normal looking male but, Willow did NOT trust her vision..for many years when the moon was hidden behind clouds or when the night grew too dark her vision would fail. Yes..when it came to 'night vision' the pinto had to have some of the worst; at least that's what she'd surmised after bumping into one too many unpleasant things on those rare deep dark evenings. Having been 'caught' Willow bravely stepped from behind the tree, keeping a wary distance before speaking up in reply. "I do not fear the moon..the only time it has brought me harm has been when it turns red as the blood pumping through our veins. Pardon my intrusion. I meant no harm nor do I wish to quarrel..my daughter is already frightened enough." Glancing down at the still shaking bundle of fur, she moved to back away once again. Not wanting to fight..only wishing to be left in the silence. Willow did not consider herself deserving of company..especially not by one whom attracted such a beautiful glowing entourage. Surely he was a stallion from a prominent family..or something grand. Bowing once out of respect the mare dared to turn her back upon him..taking more steps along the barely lit path, the rabbit hot on her heels.

Vilurin watched the mare in the shadows - though he could not make out much - the tree filtered the moon's light and he was too far away for his own light to do any good. He took a few steps towards her, completely oblivious of her concerns - or perhaps he didn't mind them and paused when he was close enough that he could discern that she was, in fact, female. A pretty female to match a pretty voice. His cheeks flushed and his tail twitched.
"No instrusions or quarrels," he replied with a nod before quirking a brow. "Daughter?" He had not noticed the rabbit and he could not see any foals about - was she hidden elsewhere? The bow caught him off guard - even though he was nephew of the Patriarch none bowed to him - he was Moontainted and it was a good day if they didn't run at the sight of him. The reminder had him release a sigh and he broke from his thoughts - looking up in time to see the mare turning and leaving. "Ah, you seem to be the quiet type," he called to her back, taking a couple step towards her, trying to catch up. "I'd go back the other way if I were you. Big herd that way - friendly bunch, but boy are they nosy and loud."
He nodded his head back the way he came. "Exploring to get away from all the festivities myself," his feet shifted. "Company would be nice, if you're so inclined - and your daughter won't mind; wherever she is."

Stopping dead in her tracks the mare looked down the path with a sense of dread..a large herd up ahead..Willow wondered if she could trust the others words. Trust wasn't something she gave easily but, with eyes closed and ears strained there was the faint sound of something way down the dimly lit path. So perhaps it was truth. Turning back with a curious look..she warily began walking back towards him..listening as her daughter hurried to keep up & stay close. " My daughter is behind me at this very moment. I know she is small but, it cannot be that hard to cast your gaze upon her." As they were now only a short distance apart Willow stopped walking and with a few encouraging nudges the rabbit hopped forward in the delicate glow cast by the many tiny fireflies. Nose twitching the creature gave him a quick once over before hurrying back behind her 'mother'. " Now that you have seen she is here..If you do not mind the company of a cursed mare then by all means..lead the way." As they strolled along the moonlit path the mare's eyes were always seeming to sweep around in search of danger. Even in the company of a capable looking stallion she kept alert " My apologies if I seem rude. One can never be too careful. Ahh yes, I almost forgot..my name is Willow..it is good to meet you."

Vilurin regarded the rabbit with a raised brow but did not question it. He made friends with fireflies and so he was in no position to judge another's choice in family or kin. He continued down the path, heading back the way he came, fireflies lured by the light of their brethren illuminating their path whilst his night adjusted eyes did the rest. "No offence was taken," she said with a smile. "Willow, hm? Vilurin Goldenleaf, at your service," he introduced himself with a slight bow.
"Cursed, huh?" He wondered if perhaps she meant the colour of her hair. While it wasn't silver like his own, it was still the colour of night - an absence of light. He was not one to judge such things - his hair shone like the moon itself; much to the dismay of some members of the family. "Know the feeling," he muttered, mostly to himself.
