Since Minerva had decided to take a nap before going off again so that she wasn’t affected by the heat. Esmeralda took the time to clean up and then go hunting for something to roast. Probably the most common thing she was going to find was a Uruu, those things were everywhere and relatively harmless. Esmeralda found a pack of them easily enough and found the two that she wanted to bring back. As she approached them they puffed up but began to run away. Esmeralda sent water their way, wrapping them up in a bubble but leaving space for them to breath.
She didn’t want to kill them just yet. The Uruu did keep their puffed up appearance the whole time until she brought them back to camp. Minerva was gone which meant she’d gone out hunting again. Esmeralda left the Uruu in the shade so they wouldn’t boil in her water bubbles and left to gather some edible herbs. She was going to cook them slowly Esme had decided as she picked up the herbs she wanted. Once she was satisfied she went back to camp and began to prepare the herbs. Hopefully the sun would cool down a bit soon.
Minerva woke up when it was much cooler in the evening, her mother was still gone so Minerva decided to head out and go hunting. From the sun’s position she knew she had a few hours but not that many. The sun was already casting an orange glow in the sky as night began to take over. It was going to be a little harder to hunt in these conditions, but the Kiandri would be a whole lot more tired and susceptible to being caught by surprise. Which is what Minerva was hoping for, so she sat herself down and waited for it to get a bit darker.
With the herbs in place, Esmeralda went through heir supplies again and made a nice mixture to spread over the carcass of the Uruu. It was time now, the sun was cool enough and the fire was at a perfect temperature. The Dovaa brought over the first Uruu and with a quick jab into the water bubble the Uruu began to bleed out. As she waited for it to bleed out she did the same to the other. Then she removed them form their bubble and began to remove everything that was not edible, insides, feathers, and all before putting them on the fire and lathering them with her sauce.
The day was almost gone and Minerva got back to work. She spotted a few movements in the dark, the Kinadri finding shelter for the night, and pinpointed one that was by itself. She stalked it, using her powers to hide in the shadows. Minerva enjoyed the night for that reason; she could sneak up on anyone with her powers as a Hybrid. She snuck up on this dragon now and readied a dark lightning strike. She threw it at the dragon and hit it square in the face, but it had no time to react before she had another lightning strike to its heart.
The Dovaa rotated the Uruu and lathered them once in a while. She was extremely pleased with herself, the smell coming off the cooking meat was mouth-watering and she grew excited to see Minerva come back. She hadn’t cooked like this for her daughter in a while, it was nice. It wasn’t the biggest feast but it would do. By the time Minerva did come back with a smile on her face, the Uruu were cooked through and Esmeralda was glad to see that Minerva had also been successful with her hunt.
“Ready to eat? The Uruu is ready to go and I am starving.”
The Hybrid took a seat and nodded.
“Yes all ready. I finally got a kill. Nice and easy when I have the darkness to cover me.” She could thank her father for the gift. Minerva took the extended plate that her mother offered her and dug right in to the meat and veggies. The food was indeed quite delicious.
“We should go hunts together more often, this tastes amazing.” The Peisio Dovaa smiled with a mouthful of veggies. Hopefully if well-kept they could bring back some Uruu back home and she’d be able to enjoy some of it for a few days.
“I am glad your hunt went well.” Esmeralda popped another vegetable into her mouth. She put a bit of her sauce on them as well. She didn’t know how often she’d be able to go out hunting with Minerva, in all honesty she hoped her daughter would settled down at some point. She wanted to see some grandchildren and she’d stay home to take care of them. Minerva was still very young, but Esmeralda had lots of wishful thinking for her daughter. In the meantime though, she would enjoy what she had now and live in the present. That’s what she was trying to do now.
