Berry was wandering, as usual. The winter snows were melting and the spring flowers weren't quite ready to bloom yet, but there were birds on the wing already above the clearing, hunting mice and other things. Berry was watching them as she walked, making sure to walk slowly so she didn't knock her head on a tree branch or something. And so smaller creatures could scurry out of the way of her hooves with time to spare. The birds seemed so free, they lived to dance with the wind every day and soar to heights she could only imagine or lands she might never know if they traveled very far with the seasons. It made her a little sad to think of it that way, but the birds in flight over the field were beautiful to watch regardless of how she felt. She was so focused on the birds that she didn't notice there might be another nearby.

Spring seemed to have begun taking over the lands. And with spring, Antinanco would begin to venture out from the grove of trees that his family tended to sequester themselves into during the winter times. With each passing day he wandered farther and farther away, though not entirely too far for now. The nights were still cold and he would much prefer to have several bodies to sleep near than to be on his own. Those warm nights alone would come soon enough though. He had begun his walk along a well beaten path that he often took. When not taking other paths. For some reason this path just seemed right for the day. Call it an inkling, or perhaps just an itch in his flank but something was drawing his hooves this way. It wasn't until the sight of the mare coming in his direction that a small smirk curled the corner of his mouth. Bright green eyes glancing up towards the tree tops as he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. Ah, spirits. They sure loved to play with him lately. The stallion stopped on the path, moving to one side so that the mare could pass as she pleased. "Excuse me."

Berry snapped out of her thoughts immediately when she heard the voice of another, prancing back a few steps and feeling extremely foolish. "O-oh! Sorry! My mind was wandering... Hello.." she greeted with a slight embarrassed smiled, nodding her head to the stallion in greeting. "Again, sorry.." she added. Well this meeting could have gone better, but at least she hadn't run into him, she had to be grateful for being spared that bit of embarrassment at least.

Antinanco smiled at the mare. She seemed to have been caught up in her own thoughts that he had gotten the drop on her just a bit. The stallion couldn't help but chuckle to himself. She reminded him of his grandam. Her mind always somewhere else when his grandsire wasn't about. He gave a shake of his head in reassurance. "No it's quite alright, apology not necessary." The stallion flashed her a charming smile as he moved back on to the path a bit so he wasn't standing in the bushes. "Hello to you as well. Are you enjoying the day so far?"

Berry smiled a bit in return. "Yes. I was just watching the birds fly. It's always so fascinating to watch them dance with Wind Brother. They always seem so free." she said, glancing up at the birds. "I think I'm a little jealous of them." she joked, laughing a bit. "My name is Berry. What's your name?" she asked, looking back to the stallion curiously. If not for the strange green markings he had he could have fit in with her old herd, the one that raised her. Strange how he was only the second such 'normal' colored soquili she'd met so far, but even he had his uniqueness with those marks on his face.

An ear twisted before he turned his gaze towards the sky through the trees. A few birds flit through the cloudy blue. His eyes dropped back to her, the rest of his head quickly following suit. It wasn't a concept she spoke of that he hadn't thought of himself sometimes. Flying birds. Freedom. But while still moderately young, he still had had enough time to be grateful for what freedoms here on the ground he had. "Jealous? If anything they should be jealous of you here on the ground." With a slight bow of he head, the shell necklace around his neck tapped against his chest. "Berry, an appropriate name for a lady of your color." He gave a slight flick of his curly tail. "A pleasure, Lady Berry. I am Antinanco."

Berry had to laugh a bit. Seemed none of the ones like herself had 'normal' names. At least, none of the ones she'd met so far. "A pleasure to meet you, Antinanco." she replied kindly. "Though I do think the birds have the better deal. Any time they please they can dance with wind brother so much farther above the trees, and in far distiant lands, but they're never without him... I'm sorry, that must sound terribly silly." she said, smiling a bit at herself for mentioning it.
She kept forgetting the stories she grew up on might not be the stories others were told, especially in these strange lands. "Do you know these trails well?" she asked, deciding to change the topic before she exposed her feelings on the matter of family. the day was far too new for that just yet.

"Ah, yes. But they miss out on Mother Earth's warmth for Wind Brother's cool breezes. The only thing that can limit you is yourself. Not the lack of wings or any other appendage. They may reach far off destinations quicker, but on the ground you can truly enjoy the journey." His ears moved back and forth thoughtfully. With a nod of his head, he grinned wide. "Of course, I was raised here. Although I could say I know many trails very well. Have you traveled a lot?"

Berry nodded a bit, and took a few steps closer to the stallion. "Yes, but I never stay long in one place, not enough to learn the trails. Would you mind terribly if I walked with you for a while?" she asked. Traveling alone wasn't always fun, and company seemed like a good idea for now. "I'm not familiar with 'Mother' Earth. Is she a Great Spirit like Wind Brother?" she asked, curious to hear more about this new being that Antinanco seemed to know about.

"Ah I see." Antinanco had a wander lust himself, but he always came back to this area. It where his family was and his grandamn would give him an earful if he didn't pop in every now and again, Not that he had no reason to, he loved his family and while he wished to roam his heart always drew him back. "That's fine, I would enjoy the company." As he began to walk the trail once more he took a few seconds to figure out his next reply. It was never easy to explain things such as this, especially when it was something so deeply rooted in his families beliefs. "Oh yes, there are many great spirits. Mother Earth is the foundation of all life. She tends the fields of grass so that we may have things to eat and makes the trees grow so that we have shelter. But when she is angry she shakes and howls to show her displeasure."

Berry smiled a bit as she walked beside Antinanco. "Sounds like another I know, though my old herd always called them Grandfather Earth." She laughed a bit "And then there was Grandmother Mountain, never a good idea to get either of them upset with you, though Grandmother Mountain was by far more active when she was upset."
"Do you know of Wind Brother? His stories are some of my favorites, though he loves to make a pest of himself sometimes it seems." she said with a smile.

"Its always interesting to hear the different stories of the world from those of other herds. To see how time and opinion has shaped similarities. Of course, then there are those from other lands with their own tails. Those are truly fascinating." While he didn't have a lot of experience with those of other lands, Antinanco was always eager to hear their tails. How their beliefs were or how after coming to the Kawani lands their beliefs had shifted and evolved. Of course, the stallion also couldn't pass up a good story. He liked stories. "I have a feeling your stories of him would differ a bit from my own." Chuckling, he gave a light toss of his curly mane in amusement. "But I'd be interested in hearing some of your own tails."

Berry considered for a moment, and glanced at Antinanco. "Well, I think there's too many." she smiled a little. "Wind Brother's always adding to them, at least as far as personal stories. One time, he took my circlet," she lowered her head a little, so he could see the holly crown she wore better. "And put it up in a tree. I had to wait until he got bored and blew it down again to get it back." she laughed a bit. "Another time he sent it out into the middle of a river. Sister River almost took it away for good, but she eventually gave it back, though not without taking it some distance first."

The stallion admired her circlet, it was very lovely. And it seemed pretty special to Berry. It was nice to have special things. He wrinkled her nose at the story though. Chuckling deep in his throat as he gave his head a small shake. "That doesn't sound very nice. I'm sure they wouldn't like it if someone took something of theirs and almost didn't give it back." Antinanco squinted slightly at the breeze that rustled the leaves over head.
