Creep, the little green demon, flitted through the swamp, hiding against slime and algae covered trees and hanging, strange vegetation. He'd been behaving badly again, and now it was time for his favorite game, hide-and-seek! Only, this time, there was so much green, his owner might not find him for a long, looong time. Wouldn't that be fun! He found a low-hanging tree branch and perched there, out of reach of most of the dangerous beasties that called the swamp home, and waited, clacking his fangs together excitedly, watching for a hint of his owner's pastel rainbow hide to come into view, so he could flit off and hide somewhere else. always just out of reach, doing his best to blend in with the swamp colors.
Marshmarrow sighed as he trudged along through the muck and the mire. "Creep?" he called. Honestly, the little demon did this far too often, usually he was easy enough to find, but in a swamp?? "I think he's doing this now on purpose, Peep," He muttered under his breath, to the little heart-fawn riding in the hole in his chest. She was such a tiny thing and her steps were so tiny, they both feared what would happen to Peep if she walked through the swamp on her own, where she was a perfectly sized snack for almost anything with fangs.
Marshmarrow and Peep couldn't tell where Creep was currently, he blended in too well and neither of them were used to searching for him in such a place where he blended in so perfectly. Marshmarrow had another worry on his mind though. Sinking too far in the muck, or having to swim across water. the holes in his body would flood quickly in either case and sink him further. True he was part zombie but that didn't mean he wished on a star each night to get stuck at the bottom of some pit surrounded in water never to see solid ground again. No thank you, not something he wanted to do, and the swamp offered far too many opportunities for just that for him to like it very much. Why did Creep have to fly into this place to play hide-and-seek...?

Wrymtail trudged through the murk on her daily patrol of the swamp. It'd been a quiet day so far, only having to break up a mild argument between some squirrels. The warm air and dank smells were enticing the mare to find a cool spot to rest, perhaps find a few mushrooms to nibble on. It would be sometime before the shallow water fish found their way to the small tide pools on the beach that bordered the swamp. She knew she'd have to be there early to avoid the crazy fish people that lived near there, fighting over a meal was not ideal. True, she was a big and ogreish looking, and her front claws made others wary of her...but really, Wrym was a big softy. She mostly let her looks ward off threats to the herd and swamp.
She paused in her musings, hears someone sloshing about nearby. Danger? No, too clumsy. Someone was lost in this beautiful marsh. Perhaps it was one of these damsels in distress Jarl and Reedknot always mentioned. She wondered what a damsel looked like as she made her way toward the noise. She peered around a large tree, looking through it's low hanging branches at the strange, brightly colored stallion. Was that a damsel? Wrym thought damsels were females. What was he looking around like that for? Had he lost something? Did he realize there was a small monster in the branch above his head? She had to act.
"You, there!" she bellowed, stepping out from her hiding place. She grunted and indicated above him with one of her claws, "You be careful, you. There monster there."

Creep seemed completly shocked that the other Soquili had spotted him. Marshmarrow on the other hand, looked over at the larger mare, then up at the tree branch and grinned. "Ah-ha!" he said, and grabbed the little things tail between his teeth gently, pulling Creep down off the treelimb and onto his back. "Now you stay there this time, Creep." the stallion scolded the little imp, who promptly started throwing a temper tantrum and stomped on the s tallions back while flailing his arms and wings about angrily. Marshmarrow paid this no mind, and smiled at the larger mare. "Thank you for pointing him out." he said, bowing his head a bit to her. "I am called Marshmarrow. This is Peep and Creep." he introduced, motioning to each of the tiny creatures in turn. Creep was still busy with his tantrum, and Peep only gave a shy nod for a greeting. "What's your name?" he asked, curious.

"My name?" Wrymtail blinked, thinking the question over. Did damsels usually ask the name of their hero? The mare thought about the tales the others in her herd had told her, then nodded to herself. They did indeed, and the hero was prompt in telling them. She looked at the colorful stallion. "My name Wrymtail. I protect swamp. You?"
She seemed sure that was the right reply, and she waited patiently like any other hero would. At least, that's what Reedknot told her...and Reed would know, she was a hero herself.

She didn't have the wait long. Marshmarrow tilted his head a bit, "You protect the swamp...? From what? Itself?" He asked, and he started making his way over to her, careful of where he stepped so he wouldn't end up sinking. "The Swamp seems plenty capable of protecting itself from random strangers like me." He said. When he got over to her he looked her over, curious. The claws were an odd thing but then again so was the .... tail..? "...Part fish?" he asked. "Okay then! Is there a safe place somewhere, where I won't end up sinking to the bottom of a muddy hole?" he asked, turning himself a bit to show her the hole in his side. "Between Peep's spot and this hole I'd sink rather fast and end up staying wherever I sunk, I'd rather avoid that fate but I don't know my way around. Been lucky so far but luck runs out, right?" He asked, smiling a bit as Peep leaned out of the hole in his chest a bit to get a better look at Wyrmtail. Creep was pulling at the line cut into Marshmarrow's back, still throwing a temper tantrum, but Marshmarrow didn't seem to notice Creep's pulling at the opening.

Wrymtail nodded, then indicated an almost invisible path. "You use that trail there. Won't sink if follow it. Keep you safe from sinking sand and hungry lizards. I keep safe, too."
The mare smiled, her tail swaying almost as if wagging. She stepped to the side to let Marshmarrow have access to the path. "You hungry? I take to see Jarl, he make you food. He like have company for dinner. You like stew?"

Marshmarrow looked to where Wyrmtail indicated, and blinked a few times. "There's a Path there? Where?" He asked, leaning over closer to her, still looking at where the path was supposed to be while the strange mare called Wyrmtail spoke about food and something called 'Jarl'. At least, until Marshmarrow leaned too far and fell over with a surprised yelp and a flailing of hooves. Peep ducked into his chest before he landed while Creep screamed and flew to land on Wyrmtail's back, watching with a wicked little giggle as his owner landed in the mud.
Marshmarrow hurried to his hooves again, eyeing the muddy ground warily. "... Sneaky swamp, ain't it..?" he asked, and gave himself a shake, sending mud and muck flying. "What's Stew, and what's Jarl?" he asked. Then though about her words. "I'm not going to BE the food am I?" he asked suspiciously. "You're not a meat-eater, are you..? I can assure you, Zombie flesh isn't the best tasting stuff. Very dry and terribly lacking in all flavor." he said, giving what he assumed would be a wise nod, though, covered in mud as he was still, he might look more comical then all-knowing, but that was debatable at best.
Peep peeked out from the hole in Marshmarrow's chest, shaken up from the fall, but at least Marsh hadn't falling into a muddy pit or anything... yet...kaliskanny Bwehehehe. X3 I love the way Wyrmtail speaks. "He make you food." Mm, Zombie Stew. XD
