xxBio:

xxxAkira is the youngest of two children born to Dante and Sakura Hiroto. His sister was alive for two years before Akira was conceived. Dante and Sakura were a weapon-meister pair that met at the Death Weapon Meister Academy when they were children. They have stayed together ever since they were first paired together. Kora, his sister, ended up being born a meister, whereas Akira was fated to be the opposite.

xxxHis father believed in very few traditional Japanese customs, but he strongly thought of his family as a clan. As such Akira was raised to be the "heir" of sorts. Dante filled young Aki's head with the family's, referred to by his father as the "Hiroto Clan," history. He groomed Akira to be what he assumed would prove to be the heir he had envisioned. When his son didn't quite measure up exactly as Dante wished, he gave up.

xxxAkira joined the DWMA as soon as he was old enough to be enrolled. Kora had already begun her third year before Akira was thrust into the schools ranks. His initial plan was simple: memorize the basics his first year, find a partner second year, and make improvements along the way. What he wasn't expecting was to be paired up with a meister his first year.

xxxHer name was Hinamori Shinshui. She was a sweet girl, slightly shorter than Akira, with long black hair and big pale blue eyes. She had never been to Death City before joining the academy, so Lord Death assigned the Hiroto boy the task of giving her a tour and working as her partner until she decided on who she wanted as a more permanent partner. Akira took a slight shot to his pride when he received the order, falsely thinking that it meant Lord Death didn't think Hinamori would enjoy having him as her partner; nonetheless he brushed it off and accepted his task.

xxxA baseball bat is never the go-to pick when it comes to weaponry. Most people would rather go to something strong and reliable like a sword, or something flashy like some type of gun. Akira always regretted that fact. He felt like he drew the short straw when it came to possible weapon forms that he could have had. Hinamori is, in Akira's mind, one of the only people who would enjoy using such a dull instrument for combat. Even though her choice was slightly limited in the beginning, she admitted that she would much rather have a partner who was an unusual weapon outside of the standard armaments. She felt it was more fun that way.

xxxWhen Akira and Hinamori graduated to their second year, they had already taken on many missions. Most of which were shared, but some had been solo missions. The two had become close friends. They knew things about each other that not even their families knew. Even when Hinamori began getting numerous requests to be someones partner, she stuck by Akira's side.

xxxThe mission board has started becoming dry halfway through their second year. It seemed like whenever they wanted a mission, all the best ones had been taken. They asked a few teachers why the missions were becoming scarce. The teachers never knew, and only suggested that the pair should take up some sort of hobby to satisfy their need for something to do. Hinamori took up acting, while Akira investigated the sport his weapon form belonged to: baseball.

xxxHe was a natural star of the game. Almost like his basic instincts were geared towards the sport. Akira was one of the best batters those guys had ever seen. He wasn't too great at anything else, but even so they offered him a spot on the team. He was supposed to be their lead batter, to try and score an early run whenever they played. However, Akira only got better at the game. He soon developed equally impressive skills for pitching, outfielding, and infielding. The rest of his skills came later. He was the teams star player, and they gave him the name Alpha, meaning that they acknowledged him as their number one.

xxxAkira and Hinamori's third year was spent focusing on honing their skills as a pair. They perfected their soul-resonance, developed combination-attacks, and learned how to chain-resonate. They frequently participated in missions and gathered souls for Akira to reach Death Scythe status. They maintained their hobbies and made their schedules revolving around the times their individual interests required. Hinamori attended Akira's ball games, while he attended her plays. One night, towards the end of the school year, Hinamori called Akira, excited about a lead role she'd been given in a play the theater downtown was hosting. He took her out to the movies and dinner to celebrate, then asked asked her if she would be his girlfriend. She said yes.

xxxFast forward a few years in the future, Akira and Hinamori were engaged. Akira was a Death Scythe now, the pair had defeated a witch who was living in a cavern somewhere off the coast of Asia; Hinamori was a first class meister. They were expecting a child. A daughter. By this point they would have been married, but due to their duties at the academy, they had to postpone the wedding day many times.

xxxOne night, while Akira was out getting groceries for the house, Hinamori was attacked. No one ever found out exactly who attacked her or why, but Akira was devastated. He had lost his mother the year before, and his father had vanished afterwards. Now his unborn daughter and fiance had been taken from him. Lord Death granted him a period away from the academy and the city; time to grief over his loss.

xxxAkira returned a few months later, after he had time to clear his head and cool down. No one asked questions. They let him return to his regular schedule. They all knew he was still torn up, but they allowed him to deal with it his own way.

xxAbilities:
    • Paper Heart :: The "Paper Heart" ability is passed down through Akira's family from generation to generation. It is the unique signature of their bloodline. "Paper Heart" allows members of the Hiroto family to bring their soul wavelength into the physical plane, appearing as a sphere of energy around them, and convert it into a special type of paper. The color of the paper is unique to the creator. Akira's paper, for example, is in great contrast to his fathers. The former produces a dark purple, while Akira produces a white color of paper. This ability does not have a time limit, nor does it have a cost to maintain the manifested paper; however, Akira currently has a limit of two uses during combat. He must wait for the entirety of the first wave of paper to be destroyed before he may do it again. The paper is susceptible to flames, water, and sharp objects as all paper does. Once a sheet is damaged beyond a certain point, that sheet dissolves completely. Can be used in weapon form.
      • Papercraft :: A sub-ability of "Paper Heart;" grants the members of the Hiroto family full telepathic control over the paper they produce from their wavelength. Like the above mentioned ability, this has no cost to maintain, due to the paper's direct connection with the casters wavelength.
      • Transmutation :: A passive branch of "Paper Heart," transmutation grants paper constructs similar offensive properties to whatever shape it imitates should it be folded. For example, if Akira should choose to fold his paper in the shape of a kunai knife, the paper construct will be just as sharp as the knife, while maintaining its paper material. This happens automatically, so there is no choosing whether this is active or not. As such, there is no activation cost, duration, or cool down.

    • Manifestation :: Akira is able to bring his forth his weapon form without needing to change into it himself; he manifests it to wield himself. Doing so does not cut any of the capabilities of the weapon.
      • Remote Effect :: Akira isn't limited to manifesting the entire weapon for personal use. Instead, he can choose to change his body remotely, meaning that he can make parts of his body take on the properties of his weapon form while still maintaining his humanoid appearance. His most common use for this is to turn parts of his skin into metal.

    • Pyrokinesis :: Akira has somewhat-limited control over the element of fire. He isn't able to use this in an immediately life-threatening way (meaning that he cannot use this to set people ablaze by looking at them), but he is able to use this offensively and tactically. Offensively, Akira can form projectiles of various shapes out of flames and propel them towards his opponent, as well as create streams of fire or wrap fire around weapons for added damage. Tactically he can use this to form walls around the area to limit mobility, raise the heat of the area to an extent, as well as grant himself a slight immunity to flames (by bending them away from himself).

    • Enhanced Physical Condition :: Akira, due to his needing to perform as a stand-alone-soldier, has undergone intense physical training. This training makes him faster, stronger, and much more durable than most humans. His pain threshold has been raised, his stamina has grown, his senses are more keen, and his accuracy is at superhuman levels.

    • Hemokinesis :: Akira, for as long as he can remember, has possessed a unique knack for manipulating the blood flowing throughout his body. It began in a simpler form, with the only way he could control it being slowing and stopping his blood whenever he was injured. Now, that happens naturally, but Akira could speed up this process.
Years later, after the proper training, Akira has a much wider variety of uses for this ability. He can now shape and move his blood at will, as well as speed up the process by which his body produces new blood cells. Crystallizing the blood outside of his body to use as a weapon is something he has been noted as able to utilize, as well as draw his blood back into wherever it is flowing from. Using this offensively requires him to keep the blood he is manipulating attached to his body. Separation could result in his body feeling the effects of anemia, depending on the amount of blood lost.

    • Weapon Form, Soul Resonance - Trace :: When Akira, in weapon form, resonates with his meister's soul, he is able to transform into whatever melee weapon his meister commands. This only works during resonance, and the meister must have a clear image of what the weapon looks like in their minds. Akira doesn't just adopt the looks of the weapon, but also the physical properties. For example, if he morphs into a sword, he gains a sharp edge. He can maintain this form for a total of 10 posts; five post cool down.

    • Weapon Form - Athletic Physique :: No matter what the meisters natural physical stature may be, when a meister wields Akira in his weapon form, they gain the properties of a top athletic physique. However, their bodies don't change at all. So someone whose weight is over three-hundred pounds would be able to run at superhuman speeds; someone who can only lift a maximum of 80 pounds would be able to lift hundreds of pounds of weight without their body changing at all. Once they let go of Akira, these supernatural changes vanish immediately. This ability is passive, so there is no duration period outside of how long they have Akira in their hands.

    • Weapon Form - Fast Ball :: When swung, Akira is able to create and propel fireballs from sides of his weapon form.
      • Weapon Form - Fire Storm :: By utilizing this ability multiple times in the same movement, Akira is able to form hundreds of fireballs that all fire simultaneously, all racing towards the opponent(s). There is a three post cool down for this ability; 10 if used in conjunction with Big Bang Shot.
      • Weapon Form - Big Bang Shot :: Akira can push more energy into his Fast Ball ability to make a much bigger fireball. This sphere of flame is at least ten times as big as the originals (which are only the size of baseballs). There is a three post cool down for this ability; 10 if used in conjunction with Fire Storm.
      • Weapon Form - Full Counter :: If a projectile attack is hit by Akira in his weapon form (such as when a batter hits a ball in baseball), he is able to activate his "Fast Ball" ability to knock the attack back in the form of a fire ball. This fireball with be special in the sense that it also will adopt the same properties as the projectile being redirected. There is a six post cool down for this ability.

xxWeapons?:
    • Only himself.

xxSkills:
    • Sports, cooking, teaching, origami (learned from his father), playing the piano (learned from his mother), technology wiz (self-taught).

xxPersonality:
    • Akira's personality tends to change based on the environment he's thrust into. He tends to be jovial and well-humored when in casual situations. However, formal events cause him to take up a much more serious attitude. He is very empathetic, intelligent, and strategic. He has an outer air of general happiness, but most of the people in the city know that there is a plethora of darkness dwelling within the emotions he possesses.
