No gold. How could an entire island have no gold? Or rum? He and his crew had combed through the island, going where ever he possibly could -there was a rather nasty forest they wouldn't go near and the mountains were 'too cold'- the lily livered sons of a wench. They had to leave port. There was simply nothing there for them. Except perhaps a decent port to dock in for supplies and women.

Speaking of women, it had been far too long since he came to know a females pleasures.

But to the point, now him and his rag tag crew were dragging their sorry butts through Loka Nei forest, towards a known fresh water river to fill up their reservoirs before leaving. "Come on ye worthless maggots! Heave ho! Draggin yer sorry feet. Pick up the pace and we can be rid of this pile o' dirt. Or be you land lubbers 'n' not freeboots?" The annoyed cheers behind him, followed by them practically running to catch up with him, gave him a smirk. T'was easy talkin up idiots.

Andromeda was flying over the Loka Nei forest, enjoying the stretch of her wings, the wind caressing her and the quiet hum of the trees below. Seeing a branch of suitable girth for sitting, the shetani circled around and landed, hanging her legs over each side to stradle the branch.

She heard the comotion first, recognizing the voice to be vaguely familiar. And as soon as the Captain came into view, she recognized him immediately. A smirk came over her, and she bellowed down to him below her as the rest of the crew broke through the underbrush.

"Ahoy Captain." She said with a smirk on her face. "I hope you're not trying to get somewhere undetected, because if the noise didn't alert someone, your stink cloud would. Have you never thought to bathe?"

At the decidely female greeting, his pale blue eyes flashed up to catch sight of the lass on the branch. It wasn't exactly hard to spot, with her being so colorful against brown bark. "Ahoy there lass! No need for secrecy. We fear no pae." He slowed to a stop below her, which prompted his crew to stop as well.

They looked around at each other confusedly. She insulted them, but the captain made it clear before she was off limits. "N havin our a**es be smellin like roses ain't intimidatin. 'Sides, it brought your salty tongue here." And he could look at her all day.

With a laugh, she swung a leg over the branch and dropped down, landing with balance. "Ahoy, men. Good to see you all again." She gave a nod to the crew, remembering how disgruntled they were about her the last time. She was lucky to be in favor with their Captain, as they didn't mess with her per his orders.

Speaking of the Captain.

Her steel grey eyes rested back on the familiar face, and she placed a hand on her hip. "True, but you're starting to wither the plants with that stench. It might be time." She joked with him again. Honestly, they didn't smell that bad, but it was more fun to poke at them.

"What brings you and your crew into land? Namely this far into land. Did the mighty captain lose the direction of the sea again?"

Lucky indeed. An attractive female when they hadn't had a gal in months...

Extremely lucky to be held back now.

Darias paid them no mind however. Let them squirm awkwardly, unsure of what to do with themselves. He was chattin up a pretty girl. "I've got no mind 'bout killin a few shrubs." His smirk grew larger as she placed a hand on her hip. Just had to accentuate her curves eh? "The cap'n never loses his bearins. Gettin some water 'fore sailin out." He spoke while thumbing out the crew behind them, many with large barrels on their shoulders. "Drinkin seawater be bad for the belly."

"You're sailing out? Have you been stuck here this whole time? I find that rather hard to believe, considering the amount of seasons that have passed." She watched how his eyes caught her subtle gestures.

Ah yes, lecherous as always. Some things just never changed. It made her feel a little better, more comforted, knowing that at least Darias was still Darias, even after the amount of passed time.

Her face scrunched a little at the idea of drinking sea water. "I can imagine how that wouldn't work well. It's hard enough to even swallow. Do you and the crew mind the company for this chore? I don't mind pulling my weight." Maybe she could flirt her way into joining the crew and getting the hell off of this island. There was nothing left here for her anyways, and she was sick of the tension that the place now had. This was nothing like the home she'd grown up in: that was gone.

He let loose a hearty laugh, for which the crew behind him hesitantly joined in. "Stuck? Blow me down to Davy Jones 'fore I'm trapped on land. Nay, 'tis a big island. And we never found the ting we were searching fer." Back when they first met on the beach, where she helped dig. Good times. Did she still think they were just playing, and were wearing costumes?

At her offer to help, he looked at her, then at the barrels on the crews arms, then back at her. He grinned toothily. "You lass? The barrels be as big as you!" But if she insisted...His first mate would appreciate the break. "Black jack, give the salty girl yer barrel." A particularly golden toothed demon sauntered over, and dropped the contained right infront of her. Now the container wasn't really as big as her, only coming to her waist. Though no doubt still cumbersome to such a delicate looking shetani.

"Treasure, right? The same from when I found you the first time on the beach, digging. I won't deny that I'm rather surprised. This island has a lot of surprises in her..." Andrameda ran a hand through her hair, pushing some of it out of her eyes.

At the mention of the size of the barrels, she immediately looked back with a bit of unease. They were a bit big, and certainly looked heavy. And that was only confirmed with the deep thunk that came with the depositing of a barrel in front of her. Well s**t...

"Fine, this shouldn't be a problem." She pushed the barrel a little off balance to see how heavy it was, then squatted and wrapped her arms around it close to the base and lifted with her knees. Immediately, she was off balance, and her wings flung out and flapped wildly as she staggered a few steps, but then her balance came to her and, despite the weight, and now the lack of vision due to a barrel in her face, she took a couple of confident steps forward.

"Aye. A couple of gems, some gold in the mountains. But nay a drop of rum." Now, any chivalrous male would have jumped in at the females obvious trouble, heroically taking the barrel while macho-ly telling her that he got it.

Captain Darias wasn't 'chivalrous'. We was a captain, and he ruled a tight ship. She wanted the job, he gave it to her. It was her problem now to figure out how to do it. "A'ight you swabs, enough loafing around spittin at yer boots. Lets go." Without waiting any further on the shetani, he started walking again. Though after so many months on land, he was walking relatively normal. It was going to be a pain getting his water legs again.

Andrameda wasn't planning on asking for help; she knew the crowd she was with, and she wasn't about ready to be the one that these pond scum jeered at and made fun off. No, she wasn't amazingly strong, but she had wings, and be damned if she wasn't stubborn enough to make it work. Plus, she was smart; and smart enough to figure out how to use her wings to see.

As they moved, she positioned herself right behind another crew member, pulling her wings out in front just far enough to poke out a couple inches beyond the barrel. Her tail swished behind her as she struggled again with the change in balance, but she didn't complain. Good to go again after a couple of teps, she used the tips of her wings to tell her when she was too close to the mate in front of her. After all, she could see when they turned, but certainly couldn't see when they stopped.

He half watched with a bit of amusement at her fix of walking with a barrel in her face, before focusing in front again. After all, he was leading the pack.

It wasn't long before the gentle sounds of running water reached his ears. "Git ready to fill 'em up boys! And I want to the brim!" He sauntered onto the bank before turning towards his crew to watch them work. Yet again, he of course did nothing. Physical labor was beneath him, though of course he could handle every single one of their jobs. He didn't get to where he was by birthright. He got it by working the ranks, and killing all who opposed.

It wasn't easy, and it certainly sucked, not being able to see where she was going. She lived through it, though, her wings working as the perfect sensory que as she waddled a little with the barrel in her arms.

The sound of water hit her ears, and she silently was thankful. She felt the sandy mud of the banks, and her feet tred carefully for rocks, until she was ankle deep in the water. Setting the barrel down, and letting it float on the surface, she watched to see how the rest of the crew filled, then mimicked them. She had to go into the deeper water to fill the barrel to it's brim.

Bringing the barrel back, however, was a whole different beast. She knew it would be heavier, but she wasn't expecting it to weigh like it was full of bricks. Grunting, she got it wedged into shallow water, attempting to 'walk' it by teetering it side to side. It was working sort of well, save for the water splashing from the sides, until the loose pebbles beneath her feet gave and she slipped forward, cracked her face against the barrel, then flipped the barrel over her as she panicked and grabbed to it's top edge. The water showered over her as both she and the barrel went down in a hot mess.

Slowly, she stood up from the water, drenched and with tears in her eyes from the pain in her nose, holding a hand to it because that was now bleeding, with algae clinging to her from the rocks she'd freed. She looked like a downright mess.

For the first minute, everyone went on as normal. They opened the top, suck the barrel down to fill it, rightened it to fasten on a top...until they heard splashing. All eyes snapped to the girl to watch her flail around. When she stood, soaked and almost crying, there was a brief deafening silence. Then sudden, uproarious laughter. The entire crew, Captain included, doubled over at the lass' failed attempt.

"Black Jack!" Darias howled as he tried to reign in his chuckles. "Give the lass a hand." Chivalry was dead with the nymph, but he was a businessman. And it was best jump in before something broke - either the barrel or her face. The demon from earlier trudged over with a grin, grabbing the abandoned container.

"Ahoy lass." The first mate almost croaked, a long scar running across his throat. He had seen battle.

It took the girl a moment to decide how to react, but the laughter around her was infections, and soon she found herself joining them, laughing at her own stubborn misfortune. She pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to stop the bleeding, and brushed algae off of her. Oh, it still hurt like hell, but that had to have been a riot to watch.

"s**t. Ahoy Black Jack." She gave him a look up and down, then grinned, her voice nasally from her holding her nose shut to stop the bleeding. "Thanks."

"Anytime lass." He spoke with a wink, filling the barrel back up before capping it. Then with a grunt, he lifted the heavy container, the thick muscles in his arms visibly moving under his skin. All the crew was like that, strong and powerful.

She went and laughed with them! This little woman amused him. "Everyone give a cheer for the lil wench! Got more spunk than a wounded kracken!" He called out, and the crew responded with a cheer. "A'ight! Finish ye up and lets head out! Any longer 'ere and I'll grow roots!"
