Adie laid in her vine hammock, she could hear her parents and brother's breathing evenly near by. They slept at night, Adie on the other hand, quietly left her bed and climbed down the tree and stuck out of the village and into the forest. She was a girl on a mission, she wanted to add more rocks and shells to her collection. She moved from tree to tree listening for sounds of animals in the forest, she was careful and stealthy in her moments. She smiled this was her element, her skin glowed in the darkness. She looked down searching for anything shinny that caught her eye.

Votzhem was out and about, even though it was honestly too late for such exploration. Kaalnia was with her kid, Iroia was with his weird double, and Votzhem was – for a rare moment – alone. It wasn't entirely fun, but he did need time to himself sometimes, and this was the first – and only – such opportunity to come around for some time. So, he used to to check his traps.
Trapping was common in Zena. That was how you got small fur animals, and larger meat animals. Here, though, traps didn't work so well. The moisture and fast decay saw to that.
Still, some, if carefully placed, did work.
He was about to check on one of his snares when he saw, not far away, a white-skinned shifter glittering in the colorful light. A child, playing. Votzhem's heart skipped a beat. ”Oi! Kid!” he called, concerned, his gaze darting from them to the dangerously nearby snare, ”Watch out!”

Addie blink and then jumped in fear at the sound of the voice and she tried to run away and hide from the stranger, but something caught her foot and yanked her up into the air. Addie screamed and reached for her treasures as her bag fell off her shoulder and hit the ground. "Ah.." she exclaimed then looked around her and saw the figure and frowned, very confused.. At what she was seeing..

The whole thing seemed to occur in slow motion: the knot tightening, the string snapping... Votzhem cursed and ran. This was not the prey he wanted to catch.
”Hang on!” he said, reaching for her. He hoped he hadn't hurt the kid, he really hoped he hadn't. He grabbed for the rope and took out his sword, ”I'll get you out, all right? Just don't struggle too much...” he made to slash at the rope and then paused.
If I just cut the rope, she'll fall... he realized. He couldn't leave her there, though: instead, he took a few moments to angle his other arm to catch her. And then, awkwardly, he cut her down, managing to catch her – barely – in the crook of his arm.
”Kid... are you all right?” he asked, his dark eyes concerned.

Addie was terrified, thinking this man was going to kill her, she scrambled out of his arms and hide behind a tree, but she couldn't leave her bag and her treasures behind. She she climbed up the tree and then said "Umm.. are you.. um.." she stuttered, Addie wasn't very good at talking with others, especially strangers.. Then she ducked behind a leaf and closed her eyes, like the youngling she was, hoping the monster would go away and leave her treasures behind.

”What?” Votzhem's antennae tilted along with his head, ”Kid, are you okay?” he started towards her. Was he really that scary? He was just a big blue bugman... Oh. Right. He was a monster, wasn't he.
”It's okay.” he said, crouching. It appeared that the girl had left something behind... a bag full of... something. He picked it up and held it out to her, ”I don't bite.”

Addie frowned she really wanted her treasure bag, but she had never seen a person like him before, she has seen Alkidike, and he sorta looked like one, but he was blue and he looked like a male.. and That really freaked Addie out, weren't Alkidike only suppose to be female.. She gathered her courage and said "That's my bag.." She peek from behind the tree "What do you want??" She asked quietly.. The bag was only lightly filled with shinny stones, since Addie had only started gathering tonight..

Well it was obviously her bag, unless she had stolen it, but Votzhem preferred to think only the best of cute children.
”I don't want nothing.” he said, stretching out his arm and torso to try to hand her the bag, ”Are you okay? You were swinging around there...” If she had gotten hurt because of his snare, he wasn't sure if he could forgive himself. Accidents happened, sure, but that didn't mean that he couldn't have done something to protect the kid. “How's your foot?”

Adie frowned and said "If you want nothing then why are you still here.." she paused and checked her foot, it hurt a little but not to badly, she titled her head to the side, wondering why this hunter cared if he had hurt her or not. "Umm.. well, I guess I'm ok.." then she climbed down and peeked out again and held out her hand for her bag. "Can I have my treasures back" she said softly

What was with this kid. ”Well, I wanted” he emphasized the word, ”To give you your bag back, so take it.” he said, pushing it the last inch or so into her hand. Since she was okay, and clearly didn't want him around, he might as well... check the rest of his snares to make sure he wasn't catching any more children. He grimaced and began to undo the snare that was here. He'd set it up somewhere else later.

Addie frowned, he sounded hurt and she didn't want to hurt anyone "Umm thank you" she slowly came out from behind the tree and looked the figure over and titled her head, confused. He kinda looked like one of the warrior woman of the forest, but he was a boy and they didn't have boys, she frowned and then shook her head and cleared her throat. She took a deep breath and said "I'm Adlsia" then she held her breath, hoping her attempt at being polite didn't get her hurt or worse.

Votzhem fiddled with the snare, nimbly teasing the cord out of its twisted knot. He nodded at her 'thank you', biting his lip as he managed to detangle it and return it to its primitive, proto-snare form. He squared it away in his own pack, and turned to leave. It was clear he was not wanted, and would only scare the child.
He stopped when she gave him her name and turned to face her again. ”Votzhem.” he offered, watching her. Standing at his full height, he was tall, his alkidike blood making him taller than other adult earthlings by at least a foot.
”You gonna be out here long, Adlsia?” he asked.

Addie nodded and said "Umm I don't know, I haven't found any new shells or stones, yet" she rubbed the back of her head and said "That's why I come out here I'm working on my collection, my family is more into the daylight hours, I prefer the night" she said softly, looking up at the moon, she wanted to ask what he was but she was afraid he would get mad at her..

Votzhem was pretty sure that meant 'yes'. Yes, she would be out here for longer, which meant she wouldn't be wherever the rest of her family was during the night.
”Well, I'm a real fan of the daytime meself.” he commented snidely, ”But night or day, you shouldn't be out alone. 's dangerous, ye know.”

Addie frowned "What do you care if I am safe or not?? I have been fine so far and would have been fine if your stupid trap hadn't caught my foot" she went back up a tree with her bag and prepared to leave the adult to his hunting.
