Tomislav was in one of the darkest places he had been since he had met the Kawani forces on the field of battle. He had fought alongside his parents, his grandparents. His siblings had never made it past foalhood; they had been too weak to survive the harsh winter in the year they had been born, but Tomislav had made it, his basket never fading. Those days, both the days of that winter and his days on the battlefield, were long past, and he had taken to wandering. Of course, his mission was to scare off any of the unworthy he came across, but he was getting accustomed to these lands, in case he should ever have to take part in an assault again.
This dark place was crudely fenced, and beyond the broken wall, he could see stones planted in the ground with a great, scarred oak beyond. It might have looked terrifying to a lesser soul, but Tomislav knew that curses could be a gift; his ice horns and frozen spade tail might have been a curse to some, but to him, they were his greatest strength. Perhaps this place held some secret, as well.
It was the birds that kept him away. Crows, ravens, they were too intelligent, and they fed on carrion, which meant that things must be killed here often. He would not risk his legacy to find out the secret of this single place, when there were so many other places to see. Still, he lingered, some sort of morbid curiosity wakened in the numb snarl that was his emotions.

Avada Kedavra had come to the Kawani after a long absence. His consort was to have rallied troops while he was away--an army. But no army greeted him as he came into the Kawani lands--no great host of purebloods willing to eradicate the stain of lessers.
No, he came unheralded to an old haunt. The black mage had lived here once and called forth the denizens of hell to come to earth. Sometimes they came again and shed blood upon the world. The hungry earth would drink it up. That was a dream he had often, that when the great purge begin the earth would cry for their miserable blood. It would feed and rejuvenate the earth for a greater breed, a greater cause.
Purity.
He would purge the world of it's taint. His tongue slithered out of his mouth snake-like when he saw that he was not alone.

Tomislav's eyes lit on the bright green flame-burning stallion at the same time the stallion's eyes must have lit upon him, and his lips went up automatically in a vicious snarl. His teeth were sharp and white, proud and strong canine teeth that were the hallmark of his breed. This one before him, though, was something else - he seemed elemental, though his gift seemed much more extensive than Tomislav's own. He looked to be Kalona, but was wingless, and that was almost as intolerable as the fact that he was no longer unique in his elemental gift. And a halfblood has come to try to oust me. Out loud, he scoffed. "What is it about lesser mares that make stallions consort with them?" he said pointedly to the other stallion. "All they do is dilute their blood and produce useless, wingless offspring."Note that Tomislav is a mutant kalona, not part 'Suti.

Purity, the sharp clear edge of it was evident in the stallions voice, words and demeanor. "We must overcome our lesser sires and dams. But you are not pure either though you wish you could purge it from your blood do you not?"
Avada smiled wickedly. "We cannot help our ancestors but we can overcome them, we can try to purify the blood they tainted so. You should understand that for you are tainted too. I see it in you, the touch of something else. Kalona and Ulun'suti are the only worthy in the world. And the rest shall be slaves or purged."

Some kind of growl rumbled in Tomislav's throat, and a hiss emerged from between his teeth. Lesser? Could this stallion not see the superiority in him? Feel it radiating in his demeanor? He had the wings of his breed, and he had the horns. How could this one even speak to him without shame? "I bear no taint," he said, voice low and dangerous. "My family is an ancient line, and our horns and tails are born from the mountains themselves. We lived there long before the Kalona Herd came to these filthy, warm lands. Warm-blooded desert dwellers would never survive there."

"I can smell the taint in your blood or maybe just on you." The green flames roared around his head, his tongue making a hissing noise. "My family was an ancient one too, but they were impure with their blood. I am here to change that. Tell me little ice boy, what do you plan to do to eradicate the lessers? Or would you try to save them?"
Avada hissed and held his tail forth like a lantern. "Tell me ice boy, what you intend to do?"

"Be thankful that 'eradicating the lessers' is not on my list of wants for today, or you would find yourself first on the list," growled Tomislav, flapping his large, translucent wings to emphasize his point - he could stop bothering with this stallion at any time, but he had not yet sated his curiosity, which was, in fact, on the top of his list of wants. If it had been another day, or if he had been in the presence of someone more respectable, or had this site not seemed so dark, Tomislav would have simply taken off for a new place to add to the map of these strange, warm lands. Instead, he wandered toward the side of the fence nearest the gnarled tree, not deigning to speak with the lesser any further. Crows and ravens called out their raucous cries at him from the uppermost branches of the trees, and when he peered over the fence, Tomislav saw more of those strange stones sticking out of the ground. They were all odd shapes - some round, some almost rectangular, but the strangest thing of all was that they all had some kind of engraving on them. Human, he thought, and was disgusted. Of course, he was in enemy territory; the Kawani Village was sort of nearby. Sneering at the stones, he turned his attention back to the tree. So many birds, and none good food.

Avada watched him with burning eyes. The green fire in his mane flickering across the other stallions face. This kalona could be a tool for what he wanted or needed. But he was not one to beg or ask for favor. He got what he wanted because he wanted it or through force. There were no fine points to his character, no compassion.
Somewhere, Morsmordre was gathering him an army. If she failed him, she would answer for it. She was always faithful, always diligent...She was a good consort. Eventually, he would sire on her children to carry on their legacy. Her only fault was in the way she loved him. Love was foolish, love was weak. But it kept her faithful so he allowed it.
"I am not lesser. You would do well to learn to watch your tongue in my presence. You do not know when you should be bowing before someone. I will teach you that. Bow and I will spare you."

Tomislav continued his path around the fence, paying little attention to the wingless fool following him. When he passed beneath the scarred branches of the oak that stood toward the back of what he had deduced to be a graveyard, he found the ground to be white - covered in bird waste. "Disgusting," he spat, skirting around the mess. Tail flicking violently, he addressed the creature behind him again, but did not look over his shoulder at him. He did not deserve even the respect of eye contact after the words he had just spoken. "The only bowing I will be doing to you, lesser, will be to lower my horns for charging - horns which I appear to have, while you are missing the ones that would make you not a lesser." His wings flapped, the leathery membranes making dry, rustling sounds. "Or, better yet," he growled, turning on his heels, "I will bow to you as I charge by, readying myself to take flight, which you also cannot do, as you do not have the proud wings that would make you not a lesser." Tomislav shook his head at the clearly delusional fraud following him and resettled his wings. "Now, with that lesson in your ears, leave me to my business. You will have fewer scars for it." He turned back on his path and curled his lip proudly at the veiled threat. Tomislav had always better at brute strength than he had been with words, but he seemed to be doing rather well today.
Or, maybe, that was just in comparison to the thing following him.

So this was how it was to be then, here in the Kawani? Where kalonas did not realize the power of the Ulun'suti? That they were the only two master races, pure and undulated specimens of the finest quality. Here this stallion acted as though he was the only one of pure blood, as though in his veins was the only blood worth having.
"Are you a fool? You think that you can best me with your horns and wings? Sure, you can flee with those if you dare. Run if you like, I'll find you eventually. What are those to flames, tell me? How do you think that can compare? I will sear you till your eyes burst like ripe berries, All that with a touch of my flames."

"And since when has flame been able to stay alight in cold, snowy mountains?" asked Tomislav. "The desert dwellers of your kind were not meant to set foot in the foothills, let alone the peaks. Your blood would freeze in its veins before you reached the rocky slopes, and you would be a shivering wretch, as you are now." At least his side of the conversation was some kind of intelligent. If he were any less disgruntled and irritated, he might actually find this amusing - possibly to the point of entertainment. Part of him wasn't sure he wasn't just carrying on this conversation for something to do as he peered through the crude slats of the fence around the graveyard. It appeared nearly the same on every side: dark, littered with stones broken and whole, infested with crows. "It seems to me that you should start your demands for fealty with more willing minions before trying to dominate those stronger than you with will alone. Shoo along. Go find some." Or I will at last make good on my threats.

]Avada Kedavra was done with stupid conversations. There was no use in arguing with this stallion who's head was like a solid block of ice. He would show him what it meant to play with fire, to burn. He was done with warnings, done with it all.
Let Morsmordre recruit them with her pandering and her speeches. Let her gather them however she wanted, but he would not pander to them. He felt the fire in his hair blaze up, the burn of it a comforting feeling. It would not burn him, but this wretch would learn that he was not that lucky. He would burn him, roast him until his wings fell off. Then he would tear the charred flesh from his bones and feed it the crows.
He struck suddenly, slinging his tail out at the stallion.
