Padme’:
The day was bright, and she was thankful for the cat door her humans had installed. It allowed her to go outside at her leisure, yet she was still granted the safety of home. It was a welcome scenario.
The fluffy diluted calico cat pushed her way through the door, the flap acting as the 'door' giving way easily. The sun felt even better than it had looked inside, and she found herself purring. She pranced to her favorite tree, lying in the shade it brought. As the door lead to the front yard, she could see the road from her in between her fence posts. Cars would pass by periodically, but it was a fairly quiet street for the most part today.
Gabriel / Inali:
Gabriel made his way through the residential area, his thoughts wandering as much as he was. Usually he avoided being around people but ever since he'd had an interesting encounter in this area, he seemed to be drawn to it. He sauntered along the fence, pausing when he heard something. A door-flap. A dog? He glanced around as saw a cat. Huh, he didn't think cat-humans had those kinds of things.
He watched the cat move to the shade of a tree and followed her, staying up on his safe perch.
"I usually like lying in the sun," he said to introduce himself, a small quirk of a smile on his face.
Padme’:
She startled at the voice, perking instantly though she didn't run in fear. She had been pampered so long, the idea of fear was foreign to her. She really had no reason to fear... Except dogs. She hated dogs..
"It's not nice to sneak up on people." She responded, though she smiled.
Her mind went back to his question, and she flushed a little.
"Yes, yes. I normally like the sun too, but until you've felt the shade of this one tree.." She said, patting the tree with her front paw in empasis.
"You just haven't lived." She giggled and stood, approaching the fence. Sitting neatly, her tail flicked curiously behind her and she cocked her head.
"Who are you anyway?"
Gabriel / Inali:
"I know it's not, but that doesn't stop me from doing it," he replied with a grin. All things considered, he didn't like being nice. It wasn't much fun.
She talked about a tree like he talked about candy. Oh, this poor little kitten was deprived, indeed.
Gabriel's favorite pseudonym turned to ash on his tongue. Loki was such an easy name to go by and yet... Ever since running into Kali, he was loathe to use it. something within didn't want to be the same cat he was with her with others. So he wracked his brain for something else, something equally fitting.
"They call me Inali," he said, picking another trickster's name out of his hat. Not really, he hadn't used that name in a long time. But once upon a time, someone had.
Padme’:
She watched as he grinned, obviously delighted by his own little game. Who was she to end one's fun? She smiled again, and bowed her head politely.
"I'm Padme'. It's a pleasure to meet you Inali. I don't see many cats around here usually.. Do you live around here?" She asked, cocking her head curiously as her hazel eyes tipped up at him. She had never seen him before, but she had meant what she said. She'd never meant anyone before really... She was a bit sheltered, to say the least.
Gabriel / Inali:
Gabriel considered her. She was cute, adorable, really. Far too white and pure. He wondered if she saw any other cats at all.
"Not exactly, but a... friend of mine does," he settled himself down to lounge on the fence. It probably seemed like an awkward position or at the very least uncomfortable to be on the thin beam near the top of the posts, but he'd long ago gotten used to less-than-comfortable places.
"I was curious to see what the neighborhood was like." He glanced at the house she'd come from and nodded his head. "You a pet?"
Padme’:
Oh he had a friend! How lovely. Sometimes she found herself wishing she had a friend, but she was pretty sure her humans would never take in another cat. The idea saddened her but she tried not to dwell. Everything else went rather well, she thought anyway.
"Well I may be biased, but I happen to think the neighbordhood is lovely." She beamed, much like a proud real estate agent looking to sell a home.
"I am!" She said proudly. "Are you?" She asked, cocking her head to the other side.
Gabriel / Inali:
Gabriel chuckled and glanced around. It was pretty nice. For a neighborhood. And that was the biggest thing rubbing his fur the wrong way. The people. He didn't hate them as much as his brother did, but he sure as hell didn't like them.
Still, he wasn't about to say that to a poor pet who seemed to genuinely like, maybe even idolize her humans. Let her have her precious little bubble.
"It does seem pretty nice." Best he could do.
He shook his head when his attention returned to Padme'. "Nah, not that kind of cat. I prefer staying on my own four paws without humans looming over me."
Padme’:
When he looked around the neighborhood, she did too, and she smiled at what she saw. She loved her home. She really did. She loved being cuddled, and hugged.. Her girl human had always called her a teddy bear. She supposed that was an endearing term, though she'd never really heard it before.
She was curious about his being a stray. She had never met a stray and she wasnt sure herself why anyone would leave or choose not to live with humans. Especially with the humans she had.. They all had to be that way right?
"That's so.. strange. But fascinating." She added quickly, as she hadn't meant to offend.
Gabriel / Inali:
Gabriel's tail flicked back and forth. She would think it was strange. Pets generally did. They didn't understand how cruel humans could be. He rarely met a stray that hadn't been bitten by a human in some way. Even the ones who'd voluntarily left warm homes, they seemed to have a story. Humans on the street were far worse than those in homes more often than not. He'd never understood that thought process. Why try hurting something that was just as bad off as you were?
"Fascinating? Are you curious?" One eyebrow quirked up. Was there a bit of adventure in this fuzzy kitten? It was equal parts adorable and laughable.
Padme’:
She thought about his question, silent for a moment as she pondered. With a smile she shrugged.
"I suppose. I'm curious about a lot of things." She said with a soft, gentle smile.
"But I'm not much of an adventurer. I'm far too...soft." She said and giggled.
"I probably wouldn't last a day!" She balked, unknowing what her future would really hold.
"I think it's fascinating that cats choose not to have a safe place to sleep, and warm hugs. There's nothing better than a soft pat on the head." She said affectionately.
"Does anyone pat your head, Inali?"
Gabriel / Inali:
That was an understatement.
"Eh, the world is better with soft-hearts like you, Padme. It's good that you have a safe place." And he really, honestly believed that. She seemed well taken care of and happy. He would hate for someone like her to lose that.
Because if she ever did, he didn't want to see the most likely result.
He needed to get out of this conversation. She was a nosy little fluff.
"Any lady can pat my head if they ask nice enough," he replied with a suggestive quirk of his eyebrow and mouth.
Padme’:
She smiled when he complimented how soft she was. Or at least, she was going to take it as a compliment. She was proud of who she was. Though she didn't know how to be anything different, she wasn't going to try either.
"Can I?" She asked, raising her paw. She hadn't really got the suggestion, having never been propositioned or flirted with before. Her question all innocence.
"I.. Im sorry, That was rude. I'm apparently not capable of thinking before I speak." She shook her head, but pink had flushed her cheeks. But he looked so -soft.- And for a stray, how clean he was! She hadn't thought strays would be clean.
Gabriel / Inali:
Gabriel tilted his head back and laughed.
"Oh, the things I could do with you," he chuckled, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye. And she'd probably let him, too. Anything he wanted. It would have been glorious.
And yet, he didn't. Want to, that is. He never thought he would admit this, but for once he'd found something too sweet even for his sugar-coma preferences.
"Don't be sorry, little fluff. I'd think a bit more before inviting something like that, though. Even if it was unintentional."
Padme’:
She blushed again, placing her paw back down. She cocked her head, an ear twitching as she looked at him curiously.
"I should think before asking to pat someone on the head? Yes, I suppose you are right." She said, and chuckled a little herself.
"I guess I should be happy you are such a gentleman, then Inali. It was really nice to meet you.. It was nice getting to talk to someone else." She said, her eyes lighting up earnestly. She had really, really liked the conversation, as light as it had been. But someone had made her feel like she existed, and was actually curious about her too. That was something that made her swell with pride.
Gabriel / Inali:
"When a male suggests it with the tone of voice I used, yeah, I'd say you should be careful on how you reply," Gabriel said with another chuckle and a shake of his head. Much too sweet.
He slowly stood and stretched his back and shoulders.
"You're right, it was fun. Maybe we'll see each other again." His mouth quirked a little sardonically and he shook his head. "Try and keep yourself out of trouble, little fluff."
And with that, he glanced over the other side of the fence and hopped down into an alley between house-rows.
