I'm pretty sure that this guild is now officially dead. =(
This makes me really sad. We have had numerous (failed) attempts to revive it here and bring in more people but nothing has really worked. Between all of the old members' busy schedules and the lack of actual recruitment this guild has become barren.
We still have some things on the guild mule so, if I can find the time, I will try to work on setting up a contest thread outside the guild to try finding new members. I will need help with this though, is anyone else willing to participate? If I am able to get this together I can organize the thread, set up contests, etc I will just need help keeping the thread alive and moderating it.
Let me know you're thoughts guys, I would hate to see this guild disappear.

^-^ I'll happily contribute! Like if it were a giveaway or anything, I know the dressing room forum has become very dead and low in demand. If you guys wanted to host a social giveaway/charity based event I am happy to contribute funds and what not! Or even contests and such.
I often think about posting in this guild, but just don't know what to say. XD I'd love to help out. ^ ___^ I'm poor as hell as far as Gaia goes, but I can help keep the recruiting thread alive and moderate it. It's been years, but I used to do that for a polling guild I helped run. It used to be chaos (and fun) as new people all hit the guild at once. It'll all just depend on how my schedule looks and how much time I've got on my hands.
I just realized that I haven't visited the Dressing Room forum in several months. I had no idea that it's dead. o: Yikes. I guess it didn't help that the Tektek dream creator site died for a few weeks there...

What kind of contests do you guys thing we should have? I have some of the basics already (tektek, may do avatar as well, rng, page prizes, etc).
Since tektek isn't working properly, we can do one of those themed contests like gaia does? And people dress dress their avis up accordingly or something. Like a fun week or month of contests and promotions and stuff. Something that promotes people to come in, make friends and stick around!

Ya'll know I'm down to help, I've just been busy being an adult sweatdrop It really sucks. I haven't even been over at the NSTG much these days outside of events.
I can definitely contribute to helping moderate and keeping something alive, though I wouldn't trust me to run anything right now.

Avatar contest is a given - we can save the avatars as they come in, I've done this type of avi contest before. Have someone post wearing their entry, save it and upload it, then we notify them that we have it saved so that they can change for another category or whatevs.
RNG contests / Dice games are easy, they're just tricky to moderate in public forums unless you have a mod friend to keep an eye on people deleting posts - especially if there is a limit to trying.
Never much cared for page prizes, m'self- just encourages spam more than it encourages chatting unless it's a very remote and distant number to hit.

I was sort of online on Gaia yesterday. I was peeking at Gaia here and there. <.< >.> Multitasking. Saw one thread in GCD about it. Saw the Staff Notice today. Someone told me that Tektek has images of the letter that was sent.

Tektek is like my Gaia life! Before I can actually look into the details of what's going on, I logged in just now to save backup images of my tekteks. u .u;
I have no time to keep up with anything lately. x_x;
Is it really that tragic though? I mean, yeah, it's what our gaia life and this guild are built on but it has gone downhill so much the past year or so. It would have been tragic a couple years ago but as of now I was just waiting for it to close anyway because they can't keep up and it keeps crashing.
It really sucks that gaia is forcing this though. It's either to shut down or stop promoting their own website on a website associated with gaia. Associated with gaia so much that a lot of people (especially newer people) don't even know that it isn't run by gaia themselves.
I will really miss the old tektek, I already do. But I have no attachment to the mess that it is of late since I haven't been able to use it in months. I hope that gaia compensates for the loss (that they are enforcing) by creating something similar to the features on that site or at least updating the 'try on' function in the dress up page to allow multiple poses of one item.

I've now skimmed a couple threads on the Tektek thing. I was surprised to see such a large amount of people who say that they won't miss Tektek. They haven't used it in months and not just because it's been down.
And most of those who've used Tektek just use the inventory worth calculator, not even the dream creator portion. o:
I found that surprising because I only use Tektek to make avatars. I actually use it all the time. I was annoyed by how it's been down and outdated, but I still like the automatic item list feature. I also like creating example avatars that are literally avatar-sized images. I also liked to use the inventory tektek. It was sooooo useful to see my items separated by pose (eyes, mouth, arms, legs) and color. My inventory is color coded and arranged by item type... but it can't, for example, separate all of my yellow wigs into one spot. Gaia's search tags are helpful, but they aren't perfect.
I know that Tektek was dying. Servers were dying. It's been outdated. I've just always used avatar simulators with Gaia, whether it was GavSim, GAC or Tektek. (So I'm kinda hoping a new site steps in for my lazy butt. n wn;; ) In fact, I was surprised yeeeeaaarrrsss ago when Tektek kept getting bigger and no new avatar simulator stepped up and beat it. XD
Well, for the good news~ ..... Someone mentioned that you can share the urls of avatars saved in closets. I just tried it and it works. And thaaaaaaatttss gonna be how I'll make sample avatars from now on. I can play with inventory search, save the avatar into the closet, and then nab an avatar-sized image from that. x -x; I'll miss the automatic item lists. As to making up avatars with multiple items (not including EIs), that will be a problem like Frantic said. I don't do that often... but it happens. D;
This whole situation is just stupid. I blame both parties. Well, I don't really blame both parties. I figured this would come eventually once Tekton made a competing avatar site, but... ugh, I deleted a whole section here that commented on the actions of both parties.
As to avatar contests, this mucks things up. I reaaaallllly dislike looking at screen shots of the dress up screen or even just avatars saved from it. They're huge! u .u; Just a personal pet peeve. And I wouldn't want to go through the trouble of making people save images from their closets. So. Ugh. I'll have to try to get over that. As to other games for the recruiting thread, I think about that throughout the day. I've been trying to think of ideas that would be fashion related... but still tie into Gaia.... All I've got is having rating services. XD; But that's not a game. And then I think, "Oh! we can have users make an avatar with a difficult item!" ...And then realize that it's just another avatar contest. I'm so unhelpful.

It's tragic because this is kinda..... I don't even know how to say it, the final nail in the coffin for me? I've been on the fence about going into a semi-active state for a while now and this might push me over because I'm tired of all the unnecessary BS. The gold gens, the dozens of cash shop related announcements we're getting every day, and now going after a user-run service that has existed for over 10 years just because they're advertising another site?
The Gaia that I loved is just..... gone. It's nothing like it used to be. It started a nosedive in 2014 and I've pretty much given up hope that it's ever going to recover.
As for creating something similar? I strongly doubt it- Gaia has come right out and stated that they're not interested in working on features that can't turn a profit, so if they do replicate TekTek, it'd probably be pay-to-use. If it isn't, you can expect the same brand of half-assery that is the new inventory arranger to be ported into the new TekTek. If they can't even get the inventory search right, how are they doing to make a similar system that operates using the same search terms? I can't even search my inventory for things that are green and get all of my green items- I get maybe half of them. That isn't something that Gaia is going to waste their time trying to correct because it doesn't benefit their bottom line. TekTek has been the only way I have been able to find certain poses, or match colors between items easily and quickly. Doing it from my inventory is unreliable and clunky at best.

I totally felt that way at first. But it was all so uncharacteristic of Gaia. Aside from the gold gens, I've seen them at least try to conform to the demands we make. And they've got a new product manager who's trying hard to keep us happy too and spent time as a user on this site.
I felt like this was a slap to the face of Gaia's users as well as Tektek.
But it's well within Gaia's rights to go after Tektek. Tekton was using Gaia's property to advertise a site that directly competed with Gaia. And there's something about how he was profiting from Gaia's merchandise because those ads on every page were generating revenue for himself (his competing site). .... I should go find the well-written post I saw.
Also, Tektek held onto the letter for two weeks without responding to Gaia. Gaia wanted (still wants) to work with Tektek. They just want him to remove the ads. Gaia heard nothing from Tekton...
Tekton responded by taking the 2nd option and just shutting down Tektek. And why not? He only profits from that move. It'll piss off Gaia's users, make Gaia look like the bad guy and funnel more people to his site. And he didn't have the time to look after Tektek anymore anyway. I guess Tektek was down for so long because his volunteers running it couldn't get a hold of him. He's too busy with his new avatar site to keep Tektek up and running. I get it though. I'm sure his site is keeping him super busy.
Gaia went through the correct channels to contact him by sending that letter. It's just too bad that they couldn't have approached him off the record first or something.
Now, Gaia is no angel. But then again, I don't blame them either. Tekton's site is siphoning away their users... and using their logo and items to do it. XD It's brilliant. Tekton's no angel either. ... All in all, I don't think Gaia wanted Tektek to get shut down. But I also don't think Tekton really understood the ramifications of what he was doing with the ads. But then again, that's all just my opinion from reading other opinions. xDD
...As to missing Tektek's beautiful search system.... yeahhh.... everything you said. u .u This sucks that this all happened because I do like recolorme. The only downside is that it's such a slow site. And I've spoken with nice people on it, but it's still full of haters, snobs and trolls (like anywhere on the internet).
