The streets were quiet tonight, and so was the origami senshi. She grazed through woods and streets and buildings like a silent ninja. More accurately, like a ghost. Even the gleaming white of her uniform and hair gave nothing away, as she landed behind a pair of citizens, only to propel herself off again.

They acted like it was a strong gust of wind but-

"Nothing here." Mintaka murmured again, wondering why the chaos seemed so quiet these weeks. It wasn't just lieutenants, but the Dark mirror court, a court she was very fond of was quiet too.

Was there a waning of power? Was there a flux in evil plots, or in the DMC case, busy-i-ness with trying to find their way into space?

She had no idea. She stopped, landing on a branch of the tree's outside the city limits, when she felt the pinprick of a chaos orientated energy. Super level. not unfamilar, but not known either. Something nagged at the edge of her brain about it, and thus propelled her to move towards it. She shouldn't have been surprised when it was a Dark mirror senshi...even more so when it was one she knew. because who of the dark mirror court didn't she know?

"Hydrus." She said weakly, looking at the senshi. "I thought you were a figment of a dream you know..."

He was not as she thought him to be. The one she called Hydrus was far below her power level and Chaos free. But in a future that he only vaguely remembered, he was as Chaos filled as any of the other Dark Mirror Court. He was blissfully unawares of that portion of his future, and perhaps that made it all the more bitter sweet.

This whole idea of 'patrolling' and being out at night as a rather... oddly colored male miko priestess did not make sense to Hydrus. Why would he bother going out in hakama to fight... youma and people with bladed weapons, when he could be home studying for his third level Calculus class? Why would he do anything extraordinary when there was tutoring to do, subjects to study, notes to take?

Yet he couldn't deny that here he was, doing that exact thing. Perhaps it was because of the captured senshi, and how some of his order had been taken. Had been tortured. They'd been put to an inch of their lives and he was content to simply bury himself in his studies. Yet the injustice that was had, the fact that Mintaka, the woman standing in front of him now and had been part of those captured, drew him out in his senshi form. He didn't quite know how to deal with it, to be honest. Really the only way to deal with it was what he was doing now.

Not that Hydrus had any real idea what patrolling meant mind you, but it was a start.

He smiled at her, an odd juxtaposition in his mind of the outer city, and the house they'd used to teach the younglings. "Mintaka..." A concerned expression graced his features then and he took a few steps forward. "Are you alright? Have you recovered from the carnival?" Ever the concerned one, ever the knight and guard.

Mintaka blinked as the image of his dark mirror uniform disappeared, replaced by the white kimono and hakama pants. Something she knew well thanks to her Asian heritage, though she hailed Korean rather then...Japanese.

She came closer, and much like she had with Nysa, brush a couple of strands away from Hydrus's face, looking deep into the eyes.

Not chaos, not of the mirror court yet. But in the future he could be, and though she had restrictive ideals about purification and corruption, the DMC always stood to her as....a in between. Every friend she had there, made her contemplate the life more and more.

She smiled gently towards the senshi, resting her hand on his arm. "Dear Hydrus, I didn't get a good look at you at the....cell." She breathed out, "I have memories of the future when we were together, partners and friends. I thought I saw you..." She looked down to the already faded bruises and the little thin white scars from small knicks. nothing noticeable. yet.

"I am...good...." But could've been a 1000 times more better.

The physical contact caught him off guard. He jolted a little, flinching backwards as her fingers brushed hair from his eyes. He wasn't used to anyone, much less a woman, so close in his personal space. Frankly he had no idea what to do with it, and stared a little wide eyed at her. It was odd to have a connection with someone he'd maybe met twice in reality, while his mind filtered memories of years spent at her side, and in the small makeshift school.

Her hand touched his arm and it jolted him out of his mind. Again, the contact surprised him and he tensed, but didn't make to open the space up. Hydrus returned the smile, perhaps a bit more affectionately than he normally would, as she spoke. He was... protective, yes that was the word to use. Protective. He was to protect her. Somehow.

"There were many people there, Miss Mintaka." He nodded his head, those strains of hair falling into his eyes again. "As do I. We ran a school together to teach the young ones." His smile was kind, encouraging. Strangely out of character for the normally shy and critical young adult, but perhaps Mintaka had been able to get through that shell in the future. He wasn't quite sure about that, to be honest. Some of the memories were hazy and unclear.

He glanced down at her arms and frowned slightly at the bruises. Her response left something to be desired as well. "Mintaka..." he said quietly, lifting his eyes to hers with a concerned expression clearly reading as "how are you really?" She may be outwardly healing, but that mattered not if it wasn't a physical ailment.

Mintaka's hand dropped the minute he expressed concern for her touching, her face still plastered with a gentle smile. She should've realized that he might...not know her as much as she knew him. The memories? They could come and go from what she heard. Some had them. Some had all of them. Some had a little....some had none.

"You do remember!" Her smile brightened, as she bobbed her head up and down. "You were much different then, part of the mirror court. I thought that's what I felt at first." But it was her memories, hazy and overlapping the reality.

His quiet tone of her voice made her smile falter, and much like the future, Hydrus saw most of her lies before she could really hide them. She could practically hear the patient and waiting 'how do you really feel,' emitting from him.

"I feel weak and stupid and hurt." She shrugged, "I was foolish, got myself caught and ended up a tortured victim for a week. They wanted answers I didn't have."

Her smile warmed him, and he softened. Hydrus tucked a piece of her hair behind an ear subconsciously, clear eyes looking over her. He clicked his tongue, a soft chiding sound as she called herself foolish. She wasn't foolish; no one who got kidnapped was foolish. It wasn't their fault. His hand gently lifted her chin up.

"Miss Mintaka... you are not foolish," he said, his voice a soft and comforting ebb and flow of sound. The Senshi of Leviathans held her gaze with his. "It is not your fault. It's not your fault." He repeated the phrase, knowing she may still deny it.

She was safe now; had he.... had Hydrus taken everything more seriously, perhaps he could have helped more, or prevented it. Yet, he'd ignored everything because he thought it to be childish. There was nothing childish about this anymore. A few emotions flickered across his face in rapid succession: frustration, anger, guilt, apology. It took him a moment to reign it back in, long enough for Mintaka to notice if she was perceptive enough.

It was more comforting, to know that five years down the road, and five years to this point, She would never be disappointed of the people she knew and met. Hydrus was no exception.

The finger behind her ear turned her face a bit red, but partly because she didn't often deal with the attention.

It faded with his comforting voice, and she reached out for a soft grip on his arm. "I was foolish, and sometimes, it will get me in trouble. I was caught you see, at a party. One I should've been more attentive to the happenings." She shook her head even as she knew that it was not.

The range emotions might've startled her a little bit, because future Hydrus was a well versed book of stone wall. It was why she admired and respected him. His calmness of the future, his smartness had led him to be a great teacher as well as a great guardian of her home.

So to see the range, made her smile for some reason, as if she was sharing a secret with him. Her hands came to cup his face. "It's not your fault either, if we are to say those words. It is no one's fault but the chaos that demands it." She brushed a finger over his cheek. "For you to be upset over me, over what happened, makes me a little happy but more sad. You did all you could, and if not for you...I would not be here would I?" She let him go.

"Tell me about yourself now Hydrus? What is it like for you in this place? in this time? This is a you, I don't know. But I want too. I want to know you here too, do you want to know me?"

Normally, Hydrus was stoic and a marble statue. His most common emotion was annoyance at people who couldn't understand basic algebra. He felt emotion, surely, but years of... training, kept most under wraps. Emotion only made things worse, in a lot of cases, and when in a panic it was better to be level headed. He'd adopted it fully in the future, focusing solely on keeping the next generation alive and well taught.

He did not flinch from her hands on his face. He permitted himself to lean into one of them, all be it briefly, as his eyes casted down at her words. One side of his mouth twitched, the barest hints of a rueful smile flashing across his features. Teal-blue eyes flickered back to her as a finger brushed his face. She was almost too kind to him, too caring. It warmed him beneath his shields of emotionlessness, and he welcomed the affection.

"I.... I suppose you are right, Miss Mintaka. I did what I could and you are safe, even if I was not the one to undo your chains." He nodded his head after she let him go, a reserved smile on his face. Too kind, this one. Though perhaps that is what drew him too her anyway. Platonically, of course.

Hydrus smoothed a fold of his sash, tucking his hands behind his back. Less he do something inappropriate. "Until recently... I avoided all of this senshi business. I was awoken by a talking acrobatic cat, and then... went back to my studies. People needed tutoring, I had - have still - courses to study for. If not for the permanence of the henshin pen, I would have thought this all a silly dream.

"Then... memories started to flicker in. Memories of a world I was sure did not exist. I took extensive notes of them, cataloguing them, but they are... rather incomplete. I heard word of the carnival and decided perhaps I had ignored it too long. And here we are.
" He inclined his head to her. To the point and in his particular analytical way. He regarded the woman with him for a moment before answering her final question. He remembered things, but the future was not the present. He did indeed wish to know her, to understand her motivations, why she did this whole thing. Why she'd been doing it so long that her fuku was adorned with fluffy wings and a power signature far more powerful than he. His need for knowledge wanted him to pick her apart and document every portion of her.

Hydrus carefully pushed that need away - for it was becoming far too.... sensually inclined - and settled with getting to know her as a person and friend. Though the idea of a "friend" did boggle his mind. He didn't really... have friends.

"Yes, I would like to know you. The... wings intrigue me. Your motivations, as well. I... Apologies, I am not the best at these things. But yes, I would like to get to know you." His cheeks tinged with color at his slip up, mild embarrasement flowing through him.

Friend with a woman... this would take some time to get used to.

"Of course I am right." Mintaka smiled, and much like her older self, was quite friendly with it. Usually her face was adorned with a polite...Ice queen smile if you will, this one came from real emotion. And much like the future, Mintaka felt that deeper connection. It was not love like she had for Aurostibite, but it was a love and she embraced it. Hydrus was just as dear of a friend as any of the others, if not more then the others. He was the one after all, she placed most of her trust. To protect her and her home and children.

"It doesn't matter who undid them, as long as I was freed. If not for you, I would be dead or one of their puppets, as that was their design. Turn us or kill us."

She stepped back, only to allow him his personal bubble she had been invading for so long, before smiling again. "That does sound so much like you, you know." She mimicked his stern face, "Education is the foundation of society, it is the pillar which we build. Without knowledge we are heathens." She laughed, "I am not making fun of you, If you take it that way, but it's just...I am always surprised to see future selves are not so far from the past selves."

His careful studying of her actually caused her to tilt her head, especially since it was intensely done. As if he was trying to analyze her by just looking. It didn't bother her but....

"The wings were a gift I guess. From a cat." Mintaka answered, raising a brow, "I've notice the rank of eternal senshi, which so far have been the strongest besides princes and princess, all have some sort of small wings." She smiled again as if she wasn't bothered by his attempt to getting to know her. IT was how Hydrus was, so Mintaka accepted it. "What would you like to know? As far as motivations? Do you mean what keeps me out here at night?"

Hydrus fiddled a little with the mock obi-like sash slung around his hips. It wasn't an action Mintaka would see, for he moved only his fingers, but it was a nervous sort of thing. Like fiddling with a coin in your pocket, or flicking a pencil in the air, it was subconscious and not quite controllable. He wasn't aware he did it, really, until he noticed the fabric between his fingers. Logically speaking he didn't have anything to be nervous about, so why he'd do something such as that was beyond him. Though the way she smiled at him did add to his fiddling. That was, though, a thought for another time. He continued to fiddle with his sash before he replied.

"Talking cats are more than a once in a while occurrence, it seems. I'm still not sure where they keep all of the henshin pens and phones in their tiny bodies," he said thoughtfully. He shifted his weight. "Yes... I can't quite find any reason to come outside like this most of the time. It seems... silly, childish, to me. What propels you to do it? To take the risk of something happening to you?"

His head tilted as he asked the question, very curious and academic at the same time. Ever the avid researcher, he was.

"Magic you know." Mintaka waggled her fingers at Hydrus, easing into a sort of comfortable teasing. "We're all a little magic in these getups, I suppose talking cats are magical as well!" She laughed.

"I suppose so." She hummed gently next to him, "That it does seem a little fantastical. As if we are living a tv show, like the avengers, or the power rangers." she nodded.

"But I come out here to maintain a dignity among the groups. Because I want peace, not war." She sighed, "It has made me outcasted, questioned. Targeted if you will. Peace is the hardest thing to work at, and even more rare to achieve but..."

She looked up at him, "Patience and persistence has aided me in this mission. And I have been rewarded for it. With kind friends, and a love that holds my heart and a goal that I will continue to work for."

She looked at him.

"So when you ask why I come out here, I tell you it is because I am aspiring. "

He snorted. "Magic, of course," he said rolling his eyes. He couldn't measure that, unfortunately. Magic didn't follow logic or any sort of science. It bothered Hydrus, as someone who needed to find the logic behind everything and document it. But it was the answer he had to deal with, being one of these magical beings.

The Senshi of the Leviathan smiled down at her, as she spoke. Mintaka did indeed inspire. Even now, he felt more of a reason to go out in his henshin and try to help people, simply because she believed it in so much. She had so much faith in her mission, he admired it. He admired her dedication to it. Hydrus only had his notes, his imagined worlds, and his studies. To find a mission even more important than that...

"Peace is a noble cause. Sometimes it's the outcasts that can bring what the world needs, not those who dedicate themselves blindly to one cause." He fell to one knee, sleeves and hair fluttering. Hydrus gently grabbed her hand and looked up at her. "If you have need of me, Miss Mintaka, I am at your disposal. Call, and I will come."

He would always come if she called for him. No matter the color of his uniform, nor the period of time, he was one of her protectors. That much would never change.

"This is a side of you that isn't new." Mintaka teased a little, "Magic is a form of science they say. It's complicated and unique but I am sure if you studied it, it would be easy to break down. I know for sure, we are uniquely tied to planets and after a little studying and information from the primer, we might just be outlets from our planets."

She breathed out, "But that's a little too much science...y things for me, and probably best asked by someone who has...become stronger with their planet?" Her voice faltered as he was down on one knee.

Pledging loyalty to her. Like...like a knight would a princess or something. Like...like.

her face flushed. "Com...Come now Hydrus, we are friends!" She tugged him up and laughed awkwardly, even if her face was flushed from such actions. It was like straight out of a movie or something. "But just as I can call for you my friend, you can call to me. I will come to your aid, as the best as I can." Granted, she couldn't fight but she was good for getting away.

"So...so...Knight Hydrus hmm?" She laughed a little before wiping her hands on her skirt, where she nervously played with next. She had never had someone actually...be so loyal to her. Even in the future, Hydrus had never wavered, nor did Auro. She was blessed to have them now.

He pledged his loyalty to her without a second thought. Perhaps it was fleeting memories from a time yet to come, or something far deeper, but it felt right in a way. The senshi stood, a very graceful motion for one of his height. Hydrus smiled kindly at her. "Perhaps, though there already seems to be a precedence for knights elsewhere. As far as I know, I don't have any knights of my own, either. Perhaps simply one of your guard."

Hydrus gently grabbed her hands, his grip light and forever incredibly gentle. "Apologies, that may have been too much. The sentiment is all the same, however, Miss Mintaka. If you ever need of me, I'm but a phone call or text away."

It was unsaid, but he would follow her to the ends of the earth and time if it meant he could protect her and fight beside her. To others it would seems foolish and poorly thought out. Pledging your service to someone you hardly knew in one form, and had no idea who they were on the other side of the glamour, and following them almost blindly? That was how people got killed, got sidetracked into less than ethical situations. Yet here he was, defying most logic for this young lady.

He was okay with it, if it was her.

"It is true, I suppose senshi and knights cannot be one of the same." Mintaka ahemed, surprised at how much she was flustered by the simple offer of added protection.

Something she had never thought she had due to the lack of any unity in the white moon. Had she met Hydrus sooner? Would her opinion have changed? She didn't think so, but he would always be special.

And since no chaos orders had pinged since their talked, Mintaka took it upon herself to power down.

"It would be easier if we had civilian identities beyond our powered. My name is Failyn by the way." Her fuku was transformed to simple dress and leggings....and she forgot to bring a jacket but it was whatever, she at least had pockets and in those pockets were a very normal looking cellphone.

"What's your number..." She waited, expecting him to power down too....
