Her eyes darted down and Nersha bit back the instinct to say that she wasn’t going to. It would be a lie after all. She had always restrained her, influenced Sereth’s actions and decisions as subtly as she could manage. Still, looking now at the golden form reclining on the ledge she had to wonder if she had been right to. Look where her choices had brought them. Sereth seemed unbothered by the rainfall that drenched her softly glowing hide, unaffected by the wind that had Nersha gripping herself and fearful to go too near the edge.
Sereth said after a long pause. Her red-violet eyes pinned and followed the forms moving through the rain. A single candidate running across the bowl to disappear into the barracks. A blue dragon appearing from between and swiftly retreating into his weyr.
This new Weyr didn’t rely on her for stability, she did not need to take them into consideration when she made her choice. Today, and from today, she would make her own choice and her way. The way she was always meant to make them.
“I didn’t know…”
Nersha stood silently behind her dragon. Sereth had not looked at her during their exchange. She hadn’t moved, not even a twitch. The rider watched as water ran down Sereth’s face and neck as she stared out into the rain. There would be no stopping her now and Nersha feared how far it would go.
A flash illuminated the scene and Sereth was on her feet. She launched from her ledge and dove for the feeding pens. Sinking claws into flesh Sereth dropped onto the beast, crushing it under her weight. Before bending to her kill the glowing female stretched out her neck and roared. Her challenge was chased by the thunder’s ominous rumble. She wanted no sweet words or pretty compliments. Sereth was here for a warrior.
Let High Reaches offer up it’s fighters. Let their queen flee from her. Have their champions chase her into the storm. They would soon see who in this time had the bravery to chase and the skill to come out unharmed. Sereth sent out no words. No polite verbal summons, just the relentless waves of her need, her fury and her challenge. The drumming in Nersha’s head was deafening, vibrating through her bones and leading her heartbeat. It was too much, she couldn’t. She couldn’t do it.

Rules
1. Keep it fun. There’s no set winner in this flight and any dragon has a chance, so there’ll be no tolerance for anyone trying to pressure or bother anyone into doing anything they don’t want to do. On that note, keep the divide between IC emotions and OOC emotions clear. We don’t want anyone getting upset. 2. Keep it clean (OOC anyway). Emotions run high in these situations and while it’s fine for your characters to be slipping off for some private time, we don’t want to be reading it here. 3. You can enter as many times as you like and with whatever colour dragon(s) you like. When rolling for multiple dragons, the posts need to be in alphabetical order by dragon’s name. 4. Non-competing characters are welcome to post throughout the event with what’s afoot on the ground. 5. Entrants can join at any round, but for your score to be tallied you must have filled out the form below. 6. Although posting multiple times per round is encouraged, you may only roll for your characters once. If you post and forgot to roll then make a new post specifically for the roll, do not delete the old one. 7. Any questions about the flight please direct to The_Muffin_Puppy, for general shop enquires Con and Tawny are where you need to go.
ICly this flight takes place in the middle of the 4th month, so a few sevendays after the wedding.
As you may have noticed Sereth doesn’t quite match the criteria for the average 6th pass gold. Namely, because she is very small. Because of this the usual rule that bronzes do best in gold flights doesn’t necessarily hold true, as for what Sereth lacks in stamina compared to modern golds, she makes up for in agility. That means that the size modifiers rely less on colour and instead on actual size. At the start of each round roll a distance d20 and apply the modifiers below. Don’t worry, scores can’t go below 0. The round will last approximately 24 hours, or until all signed up participants have posted. Sereth’s post will then end the round and points will be tallied, any roll that doesn’t have any response will not be counted.
The game will run over approximately six rounds. The winner will be the dragon with the most points at the end. Of course Sereth can always overrule should she have a strong enough reason not to let the dragon in question catch her.
Modifiers All modifiers stack and count each round.
Modern dragons Greens: 24' long, ~6' tall at the shoulder. Around 95% of individuals measure between 20' and 26' long. Blues: 28' long, ~7.5' tall at the shoulder. Around 95% of individuals measure between 24' and 30' long Browns: 32' long, ~9' tall at the shoulder. Around 95% of individuals measure between 30' and 38' long. Bronzes: 38' long ~10.5 tall at the shoulder. Around 95% of individuals measure between 36' and 42' long. Golds: 43' long ~12 tall at the shoulder 100% of golds alive today measure between 42' and 45' long
Time dragons Greens: 15' long, ~5' tall at the shoulder. 95% of green dragons from this time measured between 12' and 16' long. Blues: 20' long, ~5.5' tall at the shoulder. 95% of blue dragons from this time measured between 15' and 21' long. Browns: 24' long, ~6' tall at the shoulder. 95% of brown dragons from this time measured between 20' and 26' long. Bronzes: 28' long, ~7.5' tall at the shoulder. 95% of bronze dragons from this time measured between 24' and 30' long.
Sereth’s Opinion Modifiers +1 – Latest interaction with Sereth was positive -1 – Latest interaction with Sereth was negative -1 – Partook in Evmeth’s flight (Any dragon that dropped out in favour of Sereth does not take this minus) -2 – Actively sassed, insulted or attacked Sereth during Evmeth’s flight (Basically if you said anything that wasn’t definitely taking her side)
If you're having any trouble sorting your modifier, feel free to message me and I will help sort it out.
With so many ways for a dragon to potentially tick Sereth off, it’s only fair to provide some pointers on how to woo the touchy female. - Filling out a prompt gives you a +5 head start - Sereth is in this for a fighter, so fighting and shows of prowess are actively encouraged - Blooding a kill, did you know suitors can do it too?
Sereth will award points for behaviours she likes throughout the course of the rounds. She can also take them away, but the dragon'd have to do something pretty bad for that to happen.

Fight
What’s a flight without a little bit of violence? For this flight it’s entirely possible to take another dragon out of the running, but it wouldn’t be fair if they didn’t get the chance to hit back. All dragons have health points which can be determined using the list below. If your dragon’s health points hit zero then they are simply too hurt to continue flying.
Health points Basic health points Modern gold: 17 Modern bronze: 16 Modern brown: 15 Time gold: 15 Modern blue: 14 Time bronze: 14 Modern green: 13 Time brown: 13 Time blue: 12 Time green: 11
Modifiers +1 for being muscular, larger than average etc -1 for being slender, smaller than average etc
Launching an attack To attack someone declare your target in your post and roll a d6. That d6 is how much damage your target takes if the attack is successful. You may only launch one attack per round, instead of a distance roll.
Responding to an attack If your character is attacked then you have three options listed below. Response rolls can only be done in the same round as the attack was launched, if the response is not rolled by the end of the round then the damage will be assumed to have been taken.
Take damage: roll a d20 as normal and minus the attack damage from you dragon’s health points. If you have already rolled this round do not roll an additional d20, only minus the attack damage.
Dodge: roll a d6, minus your roll from the attack damage your character would take.
Strike back: roll a d6, if the number is odd then you do this much damage to your opponent and take damage as normal. If you roll an even number then you do that much damage to your opponent and have also managed to dodge their attack. Strike backs cannot be dodged.
Example:
Quote:
Alphath rolls for distance, scoring 13 on the dice roll. As he is a modern day brown who has never interacted with Sereth his modifier is -2. Giving him a distance gain of 11. Betath rolls to attack Alphath, scoring a 2. Seeing that Betath’s roll is low, Alphath attempts a dodge, he rolls 4, nullifying all damage and successfully dodging.
This form is required for your character to be counted as a contender in Sereth’s flight. Dragons may fly without this form, but they will not be eligible to win. The flight will begin Monday February 23rd. Forms submitted after the flight begins will still be valid, but the dragon will be at a disadvantage as they may not roll for previous rounds.

Dragon: Age: Colour: Description: (A few lines of anything you feel of note, can be physical or personality)
Prompt Response: (Completing a prompt gives your dragon a 5 point head start. The headstart can only be used once, but you are welcome to fill it out the other prompt)
Prompt 1: What is your dragon/rider’s opinion(s) on Sereth and/or Nersha?

Prompt 2: Why has your dragon chosen to chase Sereth?
Dragon: Pelgalath Age: 24 Colour: Brown Description: Pel's personality is protective, wise, down-to-earth, intimidating, blunt and meddlesome. He's really large for a brown, probably standing around average bronze size. His feel of voice is the sound of a tree falling in the forest, a strong gust of wind blowing against a window, the crash of waves on a rocky shore, the squeeze felt when given a hug by a burly man, and the noise of a poker rustling around ashes in a fire.
Prompt Response: People and dragons alike underestimated Sereth in the last Flight of Evmeth. Others, still, would underestimate Pelgalath, too, thinking him a strange candidate to be taking part in a flight. Pelagalath wants to show others what can happen when you underestimate someone. He wants to prove himself in Sereth's flight. He also finds Sereth to be a very elegant Gold, though he has never had the opportunity to tell her.

Prompt 2: Why has your dragon chosen to chase Sereth?
Dragon: Venaith Age: Two turns approx. Colour: Bronze Description: Average in every physical sense of the word with an elaborate and colorful pattern covering his entire hide. Venaith is very proper, considerate, fair and loyal to Sereth. He may think of himself less as a bronze suitor for her and more of an unfortunately dark Jr. gold as her 'right hand dragon'.

Username: TawnyAngel Rider: Lamira Age: 20 turns Wing: Not assigned
Dragon: Regulith Age: 2 turns Colour: Bronze Description: Regulith is a rich, warm, almost buttery coloured bronze with darker markings running down his back, flanks, and on his head. He's of average length for a bronze of his time but rather short-limbed very stocky with a tendency to carry a bit of extra weight on him which gives him a kind of smooth, soft appearance despite his great bulk.
Regulith has a larger than life personality along with a very loud voice and enough curiosity about the world and people around him to fill three or four 6th Pass golds. As well as being very curious he's very sociable and very confident; never afraid to say hello to new people, happy to speak to humans other than his rider, and quick to butt into conversations that didn't involve him.
Prompt Response: (
Timerider Lamira
Prompt 1: What is your rider’s opinion on Sereth and/or Nersha?
Nersha wase our Weyrmistress back in the days when that meant leadership, when it was about ruling not just acting as a symbol. Sereth can be frightening, to my mind at least, but that doesn't mean I'm not... well, loyal I suppose. Sereth was our Queen, Nersha our Weyrmistress, and they saved our lives. I think they've been unfairly treated here, I can see that Sereth's attitude hasn't necessarily helped but that doesn't mean she deserves to be vilified as she has been. I hope they at least let her have this flight without making something negative of it.
Bronze Regulith
Prompt 2: Why has your dragon chosen to chase Sereth?
She is my Queen and she calls to me, I must heed her!
Dragon: Malcarreth Age: 22 Colour: Blue Description: At just over 24 feet long Malcarreth is at the the bottom end of the size scale for a blue. He is built like a racing dog; long and slim with a huge deep chest while his wings are quite short and narrow making him quick and agile in the air but costing him hugely in stamina.
Cynical, restrained and proud Malcarreth is a dragon who likes to think before he acts, who thinks quite a lot of the world is a pile of wher-dung, and also thinks that he should be telling you what to do not the other way around.
Prompt Response:
Blue Malcarreth
Prompt 1: What is your dragon’s opinion on Sereth and/or Nersha?
Sereth is like what you get if you cross a feline who's tail you just tugged with a rabid tunnelsnake. Still, I will chase her. Wouldn't it be a laugh if I were to win?
Dragon: Pycath Age: 6 Colour: Brown Description: Pycath is one handsome brown, and he knows it. Unlike a lot of browns, he isn’t bulky and muscular, with sleek flanks and small neat wings. In the air, he’s fast and nimble, though his stamina is maybe a little lacking and should be carefully managed.
Pycath is an a-grade con artist, with an ambition to match. What he wants is for his rider to be as highly placed as he can possibly get her, and he’s got Plans. In fact, Pycath has half a hundred of them, and is pretty certain that he can twist any given situation to his own advantage.
Prompt Response:
Re'ka of 2nd wing
Prompt 1: What is your rider’s opinion on Sereth and/or Nersha?
Fish out of water, aren't they? Well, Queen fish out of water and off their high seats. I don't care much about either of them, though the rider's pretty enough. I wouldn't say no, you know what I'm saying?
Brown Pycath
Prompt 2: Why has your dragon chosen to chase Sereth?
The same reason as most of the other males, to show off my skills and have a chance at the prestige of fathering a clutch. We might forget if left to our own devices but our riders do not! Anyway, Sereth is gorgeous. I wouldn't say no, you know?
Dragon: Vespeth Age: 9 Colour: Green Description: Vesp is a whirlwind of violence, passion, and fire with a deep sharp tongue voice that promises a venomous sting.
Prompt Response:
Quote:
Prompt 2: Why has your dragon chosen to chase Sereth?
Vesp feels like showing those younglings and slow lumbering modern dragons how a real warrior gets things done. She also feels like it.
Dragon: Calanoth Age: 18 Colour: Brown Description: Calanoth is fairly chill and laidback but loves a good competition. When it comes to physical activity flights are by far his favorite even if he's not exactly the most romantic or attentive suitor before or afterwards. He's in it for the chase and in the case of golds, the hatchlings!
Calanoth doesn't have the shortest of tempers, or the biggest of vicious streaks but flights can bring out the worst in him especially if the lady of the hour shows favor towards aggression. Neither he nor Z'fer are going into this expecting to come out unscathed.
Prompt Response: (Completing a prompt gives your dragon a 5 point head start. The headstart can only be used once, but you are welcome to fill it out the other prompt)
Quote:
Prompt 1: What is your dragon/rider’s opinion(s) on Sereth and/or Nersha?
Z'fer: Ehhh for being as small as they are (in both number and size, hah!) they caused a rather large problem for the weyr. Things seemed to have quieted down some since Evmeth's flight though so we'll see. As long as they don't get those fardling sofianes riled up again I'll look the other way.
Calanoth: She's tiny! And fiesty. Don't often see that in a gold. (I think?) I haven't talked with her much but I think I could like her. We'll see.
Quote:
Prompt 2: Why has your dragon chosen to chase Sereth?
Because she's rising. It's really that simple. He doesn't need much more prompting than that.
Dragon: Tolgath Age: 15 Colour: Bronze Description: Tolgath looks young and healthy and bright, and he certainly acts it up until he gets into the air. It's there you see why this young dragon must fly among the veterans. Tolgath has very little in the way of stamina and tires too quickly to be of use to most of the other wings.
Aside from that though he's a very friendly, outgoing and hedonistic little dragon who is perfectly content to drape himself over a warm rock all day long and occasionally swim in the lake.
Prompt Response:

Prompt 2: Why has your dragon chosen to chase Sereth?
It is actually at D'vika's prodding that he'll drag his arse into the air. Not that he's not interested in Sereth at all. She's a lovely gold and he's got the same instincts as any other healthy male dragon in the weyr. He just knows his limits and they don't generally include chasing golds anymore.
Since Sereth is so much smaller than a modern gold though, D'vika talked him into giving it a shot with a promise of no disappointment or shame if he decided to drop out before it was finished.
And she promised an extra oiling afterwards, with his favorite rough bristle brush no less.
(He'll be dropping out by round four or five at the absolute latest to account for his stamina, I just want to get them some rp biggrin )
