It was a chilly night, but not one that was so unpleasant that Remarque couldn't bear to be out in it. Such was a refreshing change; after all the cold and snow, he needed a reminder that there were other weather options available in Destiny City.
So, he'd take 'chilly' over 'frozen and covered in snow' any day.
He just missed summer.
But, there was no use complaining—and there was no one to complain to, so he might as well make himself useful.
Remarque made his way to the park, doubtful that there were any unfortunates out in this weather; it was easy to drain energy from people who were of no importance to society, and even if he had never come close to killing one of them, he couldn't help but wonder if anyone could survive in this weather—with energy or not.
The park was his safe haven, a place he had often ventured since he was first awakened. He had met many people there, friends, enemies, and people in between. He wasn't sure what his goal was tonight, but he figured he'd find something. Or go home.
Tonight, it didn't feel like there were many people out. Not powered, at least.
After only a few moments of wandering, however, a noise caught his attention enough that he maneuvered out of the trees he'd been weaving between and, when he came back out onto the main path, he realized he was closer to the sound than he'd imagined.
Remarque blinked, looking at the girl only a few yards away. She was out with some dogs—a reasonable excuse to be out in the chill; his own had its needs that he rather preferred be handled outside. "Well," he said; he was certain she'd seen him and he wasn't about to just run off into the woods. "You seem like you've got quite a pack there. Ordinarily this would be where I scold you for being out so late at night, you know, despite all those news warnings about how dangerous it is, but I suppose you've come out with your own backup."

Tonight Evren was helping out a breeder who happened to live close to where she lived. She was walking mama dog who was a chocolate lab and her puppies who had just hit eight weeks old and where about ready to be adopted out to new families. "Heh heh Look at you Mama took good care of these little guys huh." The six puppies who ranged in color where all tackling each other and getting the leases tangled. "But they sure are restless I can see why we need to wear them out." Mama dog had suddenly snapped her head up to look down the path in front of them and side stepped closer to Evren. Evren tilted her head and hummed as she looked up to see a person not to far away from them. She blinked a few times after he finished talking to her. "I didn't know... I haven't really watched the news. So why is it dangerous?" She didn't want to get in trouble.

Remarque's eyes lingered on the puppies, and a part of him very badly wanted to go pick one up.
…But that was weakness, and he was a grown man and he did not have a soft spot for dogs.
…Especially not puppies.
He kept a stern expression as he looked from the dogs back to the girl. "…You might be wise to invest in a little more interest in the local news. Strange things always seem to happen at night." He eyed the dark shadows that danced behind the first wall of trees. "Strange monsters showing up. People disappearing. Bodies found, drained of all life."
Slowly he looked back to her. "…None of that rings a bell? No one thought to warn you to stay a little closer to home?"

Evren smiled. "Well I have been told to keep closer to home at night... but its for a completely different reason." Evren reached down and picked up the runt. "Monsters? Huh... maybe I got attacked by monster and that's why I don't remember things... though that wouldn't explain why I didn't have any records." Evren seemed to be thinking out loud at this point. "Well anyway I'm sure no one told me about the monster thing because they didn't want to overwhelm me... but thank you. You're a very nice person to be worrying about my safety." As she coddled the runt in her arms one of the puppies went as far as it's leash could go and started sniffing in the direction of the new person. "Oh look that one likes you."

Remarque glanced down at the puppy; he scoffed, but seemed amused. "All dogs like new people," he said, attempting to brush it off. He hadn't been allowed to have a dog growing up, and now he was babysitting his fiance's dog, and it...was a pretty dog, but it wasn't the type of dog he would have chosen. He wanted a big dog, one you played fetch with, or wrestled with. A good, loyal, friendly--smart dog.
That didn't look ridiculous.
...He just couldn't admit to having a soft side, so tried to avoid looking like he cared.
"...What did you mean, not having any records?"

Evren smiled. "That's not 100% true... its puppies who are excited to meet new people because they haven't yet experienced things or become attached to their destined owner. They are just hoping to meet the person who will love them forever." She bounced the puppy a little more in her arms before putting it down to join it's siblings. She looked up when he mentioned her no record comment she tilted her head slightly. "Oh... I said that out loud? Well when I woke up at the hospital I had no identification and there where no medical records. Kinda strange... I really should stop thinking too hard about it..." While she is sure that soon rediscovering everything will make her stop questioning her past she was still in the stage where she was curious on who she was.

Remarque offered a brief laugh when she started talking about puppies; he seemed like he was restraining himself, but his eyes followed the puppy for a second while he listened to her. Her story was...interesting, and his attention was immediately piqued.
Waking up in a hospital with no memories was one thing, but no records? That was another. The first thing he thought of was that she might have been some unfortunate victim in some awakening gone wrong--maybe a senshi who had some Negaverse agent attack her? Who discovered her civilian identity and narrowly missed killing her?
...No, a Negaverse agent might have just taken her starseed. Maybe she belonged to the Negaverse and it was a senshi who compromised her identity and violently beat her to the point of amnesia?
...A possibility, but not one he could outright ask.
If she didn't remember anything, it wouldn't have done any good, anyway.
"Very strange," he agreed. "That must be difficult. How ever do you manage?" he prompted, looking from the puppy back up to the girl.Stump_Fairy I am so sorry about the delay ;;

Evren coddled the puppy a little more. "Well the family who found me took me in. So everything isn't that bad... I mean I have to relearn a lot of stuff so I can go to school like normal teenagers but other than that I have nothing I can complain about... I have nothing to compare my circumstance to after all." She then knelt down and all the puppies gathered around her wagging their tails. "Would you like to pet them? I don't think I can give these guys all the attention they want." She really was hoping that they would start to get tired but these puppies where really energetic.

"I shouldn't. Might ruin my reputation and all," Remarque answered, half in jest and half in seriousness. He was a bit distracted, trying to digest the information she had. It would have made sense if she had been powered and then lost everything, but then...would she have wound up on her own? Certainly whatever side assisted in a side swap would have continued to help her adjust into her new life?
...There must have been more to this, but Remarque couldn't shake it.
Or the desire to pet those puppies.
With a sigh, he strolled over and crouched before the batch, extending his hand to rest atop the head of one of them. He pet with a distanced affection; he caved to his desire, but wasn't going to get attached--or look too ridiculous.
"You really ought not tell anyone. I'd hate for rumors to start spreading." Remarque, soft spot for puppies? What sort of cliche would he turn into? "'...But you really should be careful when walking them. There are monsters that lurk in the shadows, and they don't discriminate one target for the next."

Evren just tilted her head in confusion at the comment on his reputation. Evren just laughed. "Who would I tell... Even though we have been talking for awhile I don't even know your name." She then blinked. "But then I haven't really introduced myself either... my name is Evren." She bent down next to them. "Monsters?"

"Monsters," Remarque repeated. "Evil creatures that haunt the night. They look just like you'd expect them, and they travel through shadow, sucking the energy from the world around them. Sometimes they're after more than energy. So, like I said," Remarque looked up from the puppy he was peting, "Be careful."
Alas, his time with the little creature was up; he had to keep his manners about him. He stood up and offered a hand to Evren. "Pleasure to meet you. I'm Remarque. Prince," he said the word a bit slowly, either because he wanted it to sink in for her, or because it was a title he didn't seem to want to offer, "Of the Dark Mirror Court."

Evren just tilted her head as she grabbed Remarque's hand. "Pleased to meet you... Remarque." Evren smiled sweetly. "A prince... hhmmm I don't really understand... Is it like some sort of band or something?" She then put her hand up to her face. "Should I call you Sir Remarque? Or something like that?"

"No," Remarque replied with a slight laugh. He was arrogant enough that the title pleased him, but in this day and age it was just asking to be made fun of. "No, not Sir Remarque, not in a band. I suppose it's a little complicated. Intergalactic space wars, monsters in the night, ancient warriors and villains." He trailed off and waved his hand nonchalantly. "Perhaps one day we'll run into each other again and I'll give you the full story. Destiny City, for all its charm, has a very...active nightlife. More or less carefully concealed from the general environment. I hope you don't get caught up in the wrong crowd. Though, if you do...I'll try to keep my eye out for you."
He winked for good measure. "I don't like to see innocents caught in the crossfire. Of course, you must think me crazy. I suppose the only true way to validate my story is to show you first hand, but that's just a bit too dangerous. I hope you'll never require any aid, so just promise me you'll try to take care of yourself and be mindful of your surroundings."
Civilians might not be the strongest warriors in this, but it never hurt to have an ally. Civilians might not have had the same magical powers as them, but on the public front? Civilians were the best allies you could hope to have.Stump_Fairy I am so sorry for how long my tags have taken ;;

Evren just tilted her head to the side and smiled. "I don't really understand but I'll do my best to stay out of trouble..." She smiled even bigger. "I'm happy that I was able to make a new friend though." She giggled as the puppies rubbing against her legs. "It seems like these little ones are ready to head back." The puppies all started to move around her as she started to walk in the direction home. "It was very nice to meet you Remarque... I hope to be able to talk to you again sometime." She smiled to herself as she thought everyone she met was such kind people. Soon she'll have a lot of friends she feels. Kyuseisha no Hikari o/ its alright I enjoyed this rp! Even if my replies where kinda sort >.>' but anyway I hope to have more plots stuff with you maybe in the future :>

"The pleasure is mine," he said, watching the puppies for only a second more before he returned his gaze to her and flashed a brief smile. He had said her piece with her and wouldn't deny her a friend if that was she was after. But he wouldn't dawdle here any longer; he had senshi to tend to, and energy to gather.
And a hope to get back to.
He nodded his head to her in one last goodbye and then turned. It did not take him long to disappear into the night.Stump_Fairy Absolutely! Hit me up any time, I'd love more RP! <3
