Yukina had left her kids with another pony for the day so she could enjoy the fresh snow that had fallen the night before. Usually she would spend time with them but as all parents know: sometimes you need a break. So here she was in Dream Valley during the winter with fresh snow.
She was standing under a tree rolling the snow about trying to make a snowball. She wasn't sure yet if she was going to make a snowpony or what. Looking up she saw a few snowflakes fall down. "Looks like winter isn't leaving anytime soon. That's good. I love the snow and hate to see it go." She spoke to herself. Once more she focused on the little snowball she was making.

Winter knew it wasn't anywhere near close to Christmas but at the same time he couldn't help but sing Let It Snow Let it snow Let It Snow, creating a faint blizzard here and there he carried on flying around, stretching his wings, he hadn't flown in so long he was amazed he still knew how to so it "right, lets see..." he said softly to himself as he flew back a little, did a barrel role and at the same time created a blizzard around himself, feeling the snow and wind...he could stay playing around in this forever. "Winter! Come on! Can't you just stop for two minutes and talk to me!?" A female ice pony was running after him and calling his name, a female ice pony he didn't really care about, but his sisters HAD gotten a little better over the last several months since they realize how what jobs are and that their entitlement didn't mean picking on him though he had been caught up in his own little world that he hadn't seen her there till now. "Coming" Winter said as he sighed on the way down and stopped in front of his sister "What is it Crystal? You know you and I don't have anything much to say to each other." "I know, I know, but I just have to relay a message to you, mother wishes to have us all home for dinner tonight, Father is even going to be there, I don't know what it is about but she wants us there as apparently 'special guests' are coming or something, I don't know, either way you just need to get home tonight, dinner is at eight" she said as she ran off, if there was one thing she loved doing it was running in the new fallen snow. Winter sighed and took back up to the sky, looking around, mood now altered, he decided to head to the lake, maybe some ice skating would take his mind off the impending arguments that were surely going to happen tonight and yet he also wondered if Lemonade was left out and if so he wondered if he would be able to go stay with her till it was over.

Yukina had finally gotten her snowball to a decent size and stared at it. She didn't want to make a snowpony but wasn't sure what to make with it. As it was it was too big for a snowball fight besides the fact that there was no one else around. Turning from the snowball she began to roll another one. Maybe she'd get an idea while making some more.
As she continued to make snowballs she noticed the snow starting to fall down more heavily some distance away from her. She paused to look at it and saw a faint sparkle as the light hit something up in the air. Her head tilted as she wondered what it was. She debated on investigating. It was in the direction of the lake which was frozen over last she had heard.
Deciding on abandoning her snowballs and investigating she began to head that way. It was too far to just walk so she flapped her thin wings and took off. She wasn't able to fly for long so she made frequent stops on the ground.
It wasn't long until she saw the sparkle in the sky was actually another pony. One with silver, sparkly wings and a light blue coat. She landed once more and considered calling out to him. She wasn't normally a social one and on more than one occasion had been called cold and uncaring. She shook her head wondering if her curiosity of this new pony was worth the hassle of being social. She decided it was and was about to call out to him when she realized she had lost sight of him. "Just when I was going to call out. He vanishes."

Bluedemonwolf sorry for the short reply, I need to go get food. XD Winter landed on the ground next to a tree and carefully stood on the ice before pushing off and skating perfectly around the lake, trying to think of other things he couldn't so his mind drifted back to the impending dinner he was trying desperately to try and get out of but something told him Lemonade would be there, her mother would demand it, and if she demanded it you listened, hence how his father had now left the estate they shared. After about ten minutes though he skated off the lake and walked over and sat under a tree and just created small blizzards around himself if only because he was wishing there would be another reason to not go, if he could say something came up in Arcadia then maybe but something also told him that if he used that excuse his parents would now, especially his father, so he needed a new idea.

Yukina decided to head down to the lake and see if she could find the stranger. She figured she might as well since she had come all this way. She finished the journey on hoof and by the time she reached the lake there was no one on it.
She stared at the lake for a few moments deciding that the other pony hadn't come this way. She turned around and was about to head back to her tree with snowballs when something caught her eye. It was a small mini blizzard swirling around by a tree. She cocked her head wondering at the strange phenomenon.
She slowly walked over and the blizzard weakened enough for her to see the sparkly pony! She paused just outside of the swirling wind and snow not wanting to just walk into it. "Um... excuse me?" She called out softly. He didn't seem to hear so she spoke up. "Excuse me! May I have a word!"

Winter looked up at the female who was looking at him and he looked away, shyness falling over him once more as he had never actually had a privet one-on-one conversation with a woman before unless it was to have them complain he made their ice cream sundae wrong or they wanted him to go get his sister before they wished to compliment her on the ice cream. To Winter, talking to his family or customers was WAY different to talking to a stranger that was a female, male strangers were a little easier but females? Nope, way too shy to talk to a woman and his sisters always picking on him sort of killed any self esteem and self confidence he had to an extent also and sure working at his sisters shop helped but not that much so he was still far too shy. "U..um sure..." he said softly as he turned his a back a little to her also, he knew it was polite to look at those you are speaking to but in many cases his shyness over came any and all manners he may have been taught to a certain extent.

Seeing the reaction of the male pony made her raise a brow. Well at least the mini blizzard had ended. "I take it was you creating that blizzard and that snow just a while ago?" She asked. She was a little shocked at him turning his back to her but wasn't going to say anything about it. Who was she to question his ways. Besides it gave her a chance to really check him out.
The first thing she noticed about him, now that she was getting a closer look, was his sparkly wings and mane. He was light blue with silver swirls on his legs. She was mostly curious about his wings though. They were like her's or a pegasus' which left the question of what kind were they. "And one more thing.... what kind of wings are those? I've never seen any like them before."

"I..it was, it is my talent I guess you could say" he said softly once more but still audible "helps when summer is here and no snow is to be found" he said as he "I am a fairy, the wings are a family trait" he said, little louder but still he wasn't about to turn around and face her yet "or, if I was to be exact, they are from my fathers side" he said, taking a deep breath he let it out, wondering if he should just face her, after all, he DID need to get over this sooner or later and besides, how bad could it be? Winter took one last deep breath and turned and faced her and smiled softly a little "not that I have used them much lately having been sticking to my sisters side" he said, fluttering his wings a little, it was nice to have them be used again.

Yukina nodded when he said it was his talent. "I see. A blizzard making talent. Similar to my own and yes it is very helpful in the summer. I can't stand the heat." She said looking at him. She was little pleased to see him finally look at her and returned the smile.
"Fairy wings huh. They look far more sturdy than my own. I can't fly for a long time with mine. I believe I heard mine are thinner than a normal Seryph's which makes flying difficult for me." She said. She watched him flutter his wings and then looked at her own. "Regardless of how much you use them you are lucky to have them. They are useful and very beautiful."

"Nor can I but I can tolerate it at least, not that I have a choice, but unless I want to live all the time with my sister on that snow capped mountain over there" he said pointing to the mountain where he sisters home was "I am pretty much needing to be able to handle the heat some what" he said with as as he shook his head "thank you but flying isn't all it is cracked up to be, believe me, it is useful, sure, but I still would rather walk and besides, flying is overrated" he said as he stood up, an idea forming in his mind "I know we have just meet but how would you like to help me out?" He asked curiously.

Yukina wasn't all too surprised to find out he also couldn't stand the heat. She looked in the direction he was pointing and nodded. "Seems like a nice cool place to live. But at the same it seems like a hassle to live way up there and so far away from everything else." She replied.
She shook her head with a small smile. "Ah yes but the story changes on ones situation. I wish to fly more because I cannot. I'm sure if I could fly regularly I would feel the same way as you." She said. Hearing his question she paused to give him a chilly look. It was suspicious to ask something like that so quickly. "Depends on what it is." She said after a long moment.

"They like it, their house is an ice estate so they need to have the mountain and you are right, it does, but at the same time maybe I wouldn't, I mean, I have gone so long without flying that I don't really miss it at all" he said as he stood up and stretched "if I were to lose my wings tomorrow, sure, I might feel a little sad but I have been walking so much lately that I sort of rather perfer it, my mother is an earth pony so I guess I get it off her." Winter stopped and pondered how to exactly word this without being thought of as too forward of whatever but he couldn't really think of any other way so he thought he would just say it "would you like to be my distraction for the night?" He asked, knowing that probably sounded a little worse then what it should he rushed on to explain "I mean, I have a family dinner at home I really don't want to go to and so I have to have something to get me out of it and if they knew I, the son who has never actually looked at a female in any way romantically whatsoever and now has a date, would actually be perfect. My mother has always wanted me to find someone and same with my sister, Lemonade, my father also in his own way, so if I said I was on a date they may have a heart attack or three but they would excuse me as they would finally get their wish of possible nieces and nephews as well as grandchildren if it all works out and after the s**t I have gotten from my older sisters they would be pleased I may have gotten a bit of a confidence boost to ask a girl out which is a 'step in the right direction' to giving them what they want." Winter said, hoping he didn't sound too strange or whatever, he knew it was forward but at the same time he didn't really have time to ease up on it, he had less then three hours to come up with an excuse and she was the perfect distraction to his problem, sure this 'date' was probably going to end up with him looking like an idiot even when trying to be himself even thought it wasn't technically a date but hey, if it got him out of a family dinner then he would play the fool for the night.

Yukina nodded at what he said trying to picture an ice estate. It certainly sounded nice. Maybe her boys would like something like that or maybe not. No telling yet what they would like or dislike. Granted she had three other kids but she hardly saw them as they were in different herds now. "Hm when you put it that way I guess I can understand where you're coming from with flying being overrated."
Hearing what he wanted her help for made her just stare in shock with arched brows. His distraction?! Well she certainly had "distracted" another male before but it didn't sound like this was what he had in mind and it wasn't she really wanted to repeat. She really did feel bad about that whole one night stand and the fact that she now had kids with a broken family. She wanted something more for her children but he hadn't been interested in staying with her and the same was true for her.
She continued to listen to him, mostly because he went on and didn't give her a chance to speak. "So basically you want me to be your get out of dinner free card?" She asked. It sounded about right. He didn't want to go to this family dinner and needed a really good reason to not go. Apparently a really good reason was for him to be on a date with a female.
She remained silent after that question thinking it over. Well she certainly wouldn't mind being his excuse but would they be able to tolerate each other for the amount of time this dinner would take? Since she figured he would have to be with her for at least however long the dinner would take so he could avoid it, And then there was a whole different issue: her kids. Would he mind saying, even fictionally, he was dating a mare with kids already? Would she need to find a sitter or would he want to meet them?
"I suppose I have one other question for you about this. Do you mind kids?" She asked before realizing it could be taken a different way, "What I mean is..... *sigh* I have kids. A couple of boys who stay with me. The others are in different herds. Do you mind telling your family you are seeing someone with children already? Also you'd have to give some time to try and find someone to watch them if you are not comfortable around kids."

"Yes, that is exactly what it is" he said as she questioned the card reasoning " and I don't think the question is if I can handle kids it is can the kids handle their mother dating or just having a guy in their lives as a sort of step father figure. I come from a family of four where I am one of four and my sister is the mother of something like nine children or something, I love them and take care of them but after five I tended to stop counting and just remember their names.
So I love children and a long as my family see me happy they don't care, besides, my life, if they want to moan about single mothers with kids they can go jump as it is my problem."
Ofor course, if he knew his mother she will be classing them as he own before long anyway.

She swished her head and tilted her head. She thought about what he said about her kids. Would they be okay with a new guy in her and their lives? Most likely. "I think they'll be fine. I'm sure they are missing a father figure in their lives. While their actual father would be best for them, especially my one boy, I think they'll take anyone they can get." She said, "We can always ask them to make sure."
She straightened her head and shook to get her mane to move and settle differently. "Besides... Isn't this just a one time thing to get you out of the dinner tonight?" She asked. If so there wasn't really a need to get her kids too involved.
