Survey Mission 4BLocation: The Abandoned Takakonuma Greenland Park Images:: x, x, x. General debriefing: Recently, the park opened itself up for a different type of tourist crowd, making itself a fun tourist set for locals, until unexplained deaths began happening to those on-site. Falling beams, uneven flooring, and occasionally, witnesses have claimed that they hear voices, oddly enough of themselves through the fog. * C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 4B. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: You have a hard time getting past the fog, everything thick and desolate. Finally you see something, a flash of something, colour in the fog. You run over to it to discover that it is a mutilated corpse. Its face has been torn clean off its head, maggots crawling out of the skull. 21 - 40: You notice that some of the rides are moving on their own, from the roller coaster - still taped off with DANGER DO NOT ENTER - to the excuse of a ferris wheel. A body slumps to one side of the ticket booth, dried out. You turn around as you hear a strange hissing noise. As you turn back, the body standing, still, in front of the ticket booth. 41 - 60: You stumble for a second, as if someone, one of your teammates have shoved you, but when you look around, you notice that there is noone else in sight. 61 - 80: You see a mirror maze, and walk into it, your reflection eerie in each broken mirror fragment. Everything suddenly turns an oblique white and as you regain your vision seconds later, all your reflections have been replaced with your body melting, face and skin melting right off your face's reflection. Your reflection continues to copy everything you do. 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - As you continue walking down the sidewalk you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination? - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. * 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully

As a mist Scout had the exclusive joy of being assigned to miscellaneous missions without warning. She had been hoping for a little more structure, but it as more like one day she was learning first aid, the next she was helping out two intermediates on what was supposed to be an easy mission.
< I am excited! >
Scout fiddled with her watch as she waited, fixing her hair every once in a while nervously. Despite being a rather confident person, she still didn't want to be the deadweight newbie. Hopefully she could hold up to standard.

The first think Chris did when he got the mission was to text Dawson. It was a quick and stilted "got a short mission, sorry can't help it" but he'd be damned if he was ending up in the same hole twice. If he was yelled at this time it wasn't going to be his fault, dammit.
He adjusted his hat as he walked to the lighthouse, sending off a shorter text to Chel.
Not owned. Just... lucky.
Ava snorted.
He was so caught up he'd barely noticed he'd made it to his destination. "s**t, sorry, hi," he said quickly to the girl standing there. "You with me on the mission?"

Luckily for Chris, Dawson was pleased with being told about anything and everything and merely got a good luck reply with an emote spam to emphasize the luckiness of said text.
"And with me, it seems," Jack said as he came up from behind.
Lucky could only get him so far, however.
"Park one, yes?" he added to the unfamiliar trainee, wanting to get this done and over with as soon as possible.

"I don't know. I was told to report here at 11." It was somewhat standoffish of her, but she wasn't intending it to be. It was just the truth. She had no clue what she was doing here.
She looked at the other two and watched silently, waiting for some kind of instruction or introduction or ... something.

Chris startled a bit, and glared over his shoulder at the third member of their trio. "Ugh, man, really?"
This was definitely payback for all his wrongdoings.
He turned back to the trainee and shrugged. "I'll take it. I'm Chris. That's Jack he's an a*****e don't listen to anything he says. How new are you?"

The glare wash off like water on a duck's back. "New enough, it seems." Chris got the introductions done as he double checked his runics. "I've visited Takakonuma before. The procedure is simple: we go through the portal, investigate the source of these deaths, and expect to be attacked while doing so." Over a year ago now, wasn't it? God damn time flew by. "Though you'd think civilians would be staying well enough away by now."

"Scout," she said quietly, looking to the portal and feeling more uncomfortable by the second. Two people who knew each other, and she was outranked too. "Two weeks."
She was quiet again.

"Don't be rude," he told Jack. Which was laughable, really. "Fresh out the pod! Congratulations. Or condolences. Whichever you prefer." He checked his pack as he talked, with almost obsessive motions. Food, first aid, water, runics - and again.
He gave Jack a considering look. "Civs are stupid. But if you'd done this before, should be easy. We'll be there and back in no time. You ready?" The question was for Scout alone. He didn't give a rats a** if Jack was ready.

He failed to see how he was being rude, but then again he also failed to see why Chris' opinion would matter. Scout wouldn't be ready. Nobody ever truly was until they broke into the field themselves.
Jack entered the portal first once he was sure they were going to follow after. not two steps into the park and his boot scuffed against a mutilated corpse. He tilted his head down at it, unphased at this point by the view of the dead or what infested them; at least this wasn't the Sahara.
"Watch your step," he alerted them as he started to nudge the body away. "It's very easy to get lost here, so stay close, Scout."

Scout said nothing to Chris, but her face was considerably more sparkly, which probably meant she was both impressed and relieved that someone was giving her a break.
She went through the portal as a response to "are you ready." She summoned dear Rigs almost immediately, completely twitchy and afraid of what she might find on the other side.
What she found was relatively barren. Boring, grey, foggy; the epitome of creepy, of course, but nothing more than jitters and spooky things. She loved it. Trash also- way too much trash. Needs more skeletons, she thought idly.
Despite Chris' offput nature, she DID stick close to Jack. He was a superior, he probably knew best right ...? Or was this formation? Someone tell her what to do-
A sudden crack alerted her that something in the surrounding had changed. Something was coming- and fast.

Chris hopped through the portal behind Scout, keeping a close shadow. God, he could barely remember his first mission now. Had he been nervous?
He made faces at Jack's back, childishly mocking him. Which wasn't new. Stay close, Scout. Pthhh.
He stuttered to a stop as one crack rang out, and then another. "Welp. If you weren't ready before, g-" He choked on his words as a fog filled in around them, making it difficult to breathe or see. It closed in around him and he felt panic bubble up. He couldn't see, he couldn't see. It was just like the cave he couldn't see.
He summoned Ava and struck out wildly, somehow managing to hit something.

Something had heard his prayer about the speed part. Something from down below no doubt.
He was calm as the gas filtered into the air and summoned his sword, for all the world acting as though it was another Tuesday night. "Pull your scarf up," he instructed Scout. "Helps with the hallucinogen somewhat." She had her weapon out from the get go, so that was something. A quick glance to the side told him Chris was getting into the thick of it and considered pulling his a** back in, but a shambling corpse threw itself at Jack before he could move further.

Jack's warning came too late. She'd already swallowed a mouth full of the stuff and her head was reeling. Rigs' words came in garbled nothingness and she barely fought to stay awake.
But apparently working in a car shop with a bunch of dangerous chemicals and gases was doing her some good. She didn't recover, but she got a shot in. A lot of shots in actually. Thank god for Rigor's automatic firing.

Luckily for Chris, fog didn't mess with your hearing. It took him a second to understand what Jack had shouted to Scout, but he fumbled for his Scarf and drew it up over his nose.
It didn't make it feel any less like the world was closing in around him, but it did make him feel like he had more control of himself. He struck out, a little surer.
