After the frigid chill of the harsh winter had left Tendaji, it seemed that most were happy to just return to their normal routines, though the normal routine didn’t seem to be what the weather had in mind. It wasn’t long before almost everywhere noticed the way that the winter air had seemed to push precipitation onto the land in its place. Rain flowed seemingly non-stop, reaching all the areas of Tendaji, even frozen Zena saw its share of rain, though the temperatures were still much too cold to support such a thing and rain turned to hail, which froze over the ground.
The critters of Tendaji only wanted to seek shelter from their flooded homes and the wet downpour that surrounded them. They found their way into homes, huts, sheds, anywhere that could stay dry - and preferrably warm.

Ta’ruk swept back his wet hair and headed back to his makeshift home for the night. He was currently camping in the jungle forest with his little sprite and was hoping that she was behaving herself. Wiping the running droplets from his brow he wished the rain would let up a bit. It wasn’t to surprising considering that this was the rainy season but he still wanted a bit less rain right now. Being in a settlement might be a better idea that floundering about on his own like this. At least then he would have food or could get food much easier rather than having to do his own hunting in this mess and then having to get all the way back to his home. Right now his fair was mostly fruit and nut based because even the animals were smart enough to stay in shelter.
Finally making it back to his makeshift home for the night he climbed up nimbly and stopped at the entrance noticing a strange glow. Tilting his head and squinting against the rain he peeked inside. There was a good mass of Illi wriggling around in the back comer and Vesper was hovering near them chiming in delight as one started to wriggle her way. Picking it up she tossed it back like some sort of game. Sighing he climbed all the way back in and looked closely at the glowing writhing mass. There were about twenty of the creatures giving off a fair amount of light. He knew they must be doing alright because every so often Vesper got a leaf full of rainwater and dumped it on them. Illo liked to stay in moist places so the bit of flooding to their area was likely helping ot keep them alive. It surprised him that Vesper was being that considerate. Still bringing more water into the place he thought to keep nice and dry was a bit vexing. He wanted to yell at her, but really what good would that do? She would pout and keep up her antics anyway. Pinching the bridge of his nose as was becoming custom for him when dealing with the sprite he kept his peace by biting his tounge. At least she hadn’t brought something dangerous home with her, and she was even taking care ofhtem so perhaps she wasn’t as irresponsible as he thought? Still that just meant she was smart enough to heed him and was just obsitant enough not to on most days.
Movinf to a dry part of his impromptu home for the night he spread out his haul and moved a few of the sweeter fruits aside for Vesper. Calling her over with a soft whistle he was rewarded with her attention straying from the illi and to himself. The happy chime at seeing food was amusing as was her darting to grab a fruit. Glancing back at the light mass he frowned deciding he was going to be tossing those things out in a while because he was certainly not going to be sleeping with them in his tree. He could just imagine Vesper deciding to ‘decorate’ his hair with some of them or wanting to take them with her later and putting them in the food sack. Seeing that she was sufficiently absorbed in the task of eating he moved to the glowing light mass and scooped up a few of them tossing them inconspicuously out of the front and wiped of the glowing slime trail on the side of the tree. It was fairly clear what happened but really he didn’t feel the least bit bad. The insects were an innumerable pest in the jungle so it was no different than tossing out leaves that built up.
When Vesper had finished with her fruit there were less than five of the illo left. Ta’ruk was well into his own meal now deciding the remaining number of the illi could be dealt with any time and possed no threat. Now though he had to deal with a angery Vesper hovering back and forth looking for the illi for a moment before she darted before his face and shook her tiny fists at him. “Oh stop that.” He waved her off but she persisted. “Vesper.” He sighed tired. “Really you don’t need to play with them and besides it’s not like they will be coming along after the rain ends.” Vesper continued to chime at him for a while before going to play with her remaining hostages while sulking and refusing to even look at Ta’ruk. He in turn just shook his head for a moment and thought that this might be the first peaceful night in a while. Smiling out into the gloom he wished it would rain like this a bit more often.
