After the frigid chill of the harsh winter had left Tendaji, it seemed that most were happy to just return to their normal routines, though the normal routine didn’t seem to be what the weather had in mind. It wasn’t long before almost everywhere noticed the way that the winter air had seemed to push precipitation onto the land in its place. Rain flowed seemingly non-stop, reaching all the areas of Tendaji, even frozen Zena saw its share of rain, though the temperatures were still much too cold to support such a thing and rain turned to hail, which froze over the ground.

The critters of Tendaji only wanted to seek shelter from their flooded homes and the wet downpour that surrounded them. They found their way into homes, huts, sheds, anywhere that could stay dry - and preferrably warm.

All the sand had become mud so long ago it wasn’t even fun to play in anymore. She had come in and gotten all cleaned up forever ago and it was still raining! Pouting she tried to play some games by herself. Her papas and older brother were all out because she had been tired before so she came in and got cleaned up for a nap. Then after a short rest she had felt a lot better so up she was now and bored out of her mind! She had tried to make some music on some of the cooking things Papa Viveka had and might have chipped one or two of them, but nothing was broken so it was alright she thought when putting them away. She was trying to not chip them anymore so she was paying some extra attention to them and was so distracted she didn’t even hear the first scurrying noise nor the second. After the last pot was put away she turned around and the sight made her jump back and knock out some of the pots which came out crashing on the fool making some definite new chip marks.

On the ground there were a lot of little soaking wet furry lumps! They had come in the tent flap that she hadn’t shut all the way when looking out at the rains. They were all huddled away from her near the hearth and seemed to be really scared of her. Frowning she didn’t think she was that scary since they were the ones who came in and just appeared out of now where with hardly a sound! Huffing she picked up some pots and put them in front of her making a makeshift wall to hide behind. The fuzzly things keep watching but didn’t come close. Staying back behind a growing little wall she peeked out at them and for the longest time they didn’t do anything at all! It was still more exciting than the rain though so that was alright. She sat and watched them a while longer before figuring out that they were kuona just really wet and kinda small. They weren’t all small but some of them couldn’t be more than babies themselves. Feeling bad for the wet lumps Asrahs was struck by a great thought. They had come in because they were wet and now they were warming up. She should feed them and see if her papas would let her keep one or two of them. Smiling at the thought she started to try and scavage from food from her side of the wall to toss over to the little damp creatures. Papa Natsu had left her a snack which was the first bit of food launched over her wall. Watching in the cracks she noticed a few of the daring kuona came closer after a short time and snagged the food dragging it back to be eaten by the little pack. Several other items were also launched over the wall some berries and some fruit most of them were taken and eaten quickly once the kuona had discovered the falling food was not a threat. Asrahs had giggled when a few berries had accidently hit some of the foragers and splattered on them, but that was ok since the others were more than willing to help their friends get clean again.

It had taken quite some time before her food supply of snacks on her end of the tent was gone, by then there were several bits of food that hadn’t gotten touched because the kuona were getting full she supposed. She knew the tent was mess and her papas might not be happy when they got back but this was the perfect chance! It might even be her only chance to get a pet all on her own. Sneaking on the far side the tent to get a blanket to catch a pet was the hard part. Crawling on her hands and knees across the front of the tent she froze often and waited until the kuona didn’t seem to mind took a long time. Then she crawled back and stretched behind her wall safe once more. Her knees hurt so bad from all that slow crawling but it would be worth it to get a pet. Reading herself with her blanket in hand she stood up suddenly charging her wall and knocking it over. It sounded like a few things might have broken but she wasn’t worried about that. The small form flew toward the kuona to leap and hopefully snag just one. Her bull rush was not rewarded as the whole group them fled the tent and Asrahs was left with a blanket in hand, a mess all over the floor and a lot to explain her papas when they got home. The rain was still falling and she was pretty sure she heard some adult voices getting closer.

Uh oh.
