Both Yvette and Darren were on their way to the creepateria to grab a bite after class when she stopped to gape at the chocolate portal that obviously didn't belong there and stuck out like a sore thumb. "That looks new..." The sylph started making her way over, intent on checking it out regardless of what the undead boil whom she was with had to say about it and her behaviour.
Sniffing at the creamy brown stuff that the portal was made of, she reached out with her hand to break off a chunk of it before lifting it to her lips so that she could nibble on it. "Oh my Jack!" She exclaimed excitedly, turning to Darren now and gesturing towards the portal. "You should check this out Darren. This is actually made of real chocolate!"
Taking another bite of the chunk of chocolate that she still held in her hand, she looked the portal over once again, curiosity piqued as to what might be inside it. Surely the Academy would have done something about it by now if whatever laid yonder was dangerous. "I'm gonna go ahead to see what's inside..." It was with that thought in mind that she stepped right into it without so much as a second thought, only to plunge head first into the pool of chocolate located beyond.

Darren was about to advise that it might not be the best idea to go wandering into random portals (this NEVER being a good idea at the school - EVER) when Yvette declared she was going to do the thing, then did the thing. Groaning a little, he rubbed his face with his hand and followed after her, eye suddenly going wide a the floor dropped out from under him and he was left trying to desperately tread chocolate. He was going to drown... in chocolate. He flailed, trying to keep his head above the brown liquid as he clawed toward Yvette. "I... I can't swim!"

Well, to be fair to Yvette, she was still relatively new to Amityville Academy compared to Darren, hence her ignorance towards the potential hazards that may lurk behind unknown portals such as the one that she had just nonchalantly wandered into much to the undead boil's dismay.
Kicking wildly at the somewhat viscous brown liquid she had landed herself into, the sylph took a deep breath as soon as she surfaced. A pool of chocolate. Oh how she wished that she had a cup with her right now so that she could bring some of this back to her dorm to enjoy proper after drinking her fill from the pool.
Her eyes grew wide at the sight of Darren who had presumably come after her and was currently flailing his limbs in a desperate attempt to stay afloat. He was going to drown if she didn't go to his aid soon. "I'm coming!" She swam towards him, stretching her arms out to grab onto him and tug him towards her. "Okie. I've got you. Just relax and hang onto me. Take some time to calm down and catch your breath."

He was going to drown in chocolate. Of ways he expected to go, that was not really anywhere remotely near the top of the list. As Yvette tried to get closer to help him, he flailed more and pushed her away, attempting to swim as best as he could on his own. "Save yourself-" He grunted, as he attempted to keep going, but not making a lot of headway. "I'll manage... or I'll drown.""Either way, get to shore if you can, I'm right behind you."Swimming: 1/12

Was he for real?
Of all the things that Yvette expected Darren to do when faced with the prospect of drowning in a pool of chocolate because he couldn't swim, he had to choose to push her away after she had gone through the trouble of swimming over to try to help him.
"You. Are an idiot." She declared with a frown. "If you drown, I'm going to personally locate you and kill you over and over. You hear me?"
So much for her lifting a finger to try to do something for him in the spur of the moment when she would have ordinarily focused solely on saving her own skin. She was determined to give him an earful when the both of them got themselves out of this and not even the sweet oblivion of death was going to save him from that.

Darren was not worried about a lecture - who knew how many he had, had to sit through on a daily basis when Rosy had first arrived at the Coven, so he had done what was necessary to keep Yvette alive and prevent any valuable loss of life. He felt vindicated in his choice, even if Yvette did not.
But he kept swimming regardless, slowly trudging through the chocolate as best as he could.

Glancing back at Darren to ensure that the undead boil was still afloat and hadn't sank to the bottom of the chocolate pool like a rock, Yvette set her sights on the shore and started swimming towards it. It wasn't quite the same as swimming in water or air for that matter for a creature like herself. But she adapted to the situation as best as she could, steadily progressing through the liquid chocolate until she could eventually pull herself out onto the shore.
For a couple of seconds, she simply laid there, trying to catch her breath from the amount of effort that was required of her to accomplish that. When she was done with catching her breath, she quickly sat up, her gaze focused back on the chocolate pool to see how Darren was doing and if he needed any help to get to the shore.

Once Darren saw Yvette pull herself up onto the shore off the pool he lowered his face into the chocolate morass and just moved his arms and legs as best as he could. The fact that he really didn't need to breath very often had its advantages, and this was one of them. He actually managed to make quite a bit of headway now that he no longer had to worry about Yvette. Swimming: 10/12

Didn't Darren claim that he can't swim? Yvette blinked at the amount of progress that he had made on his own behind her just by sheer random flailing, waving, flapping of his arms and legs. Well that seemed to work pretty well somewhat.
Looking around to see if she could find anything to help get Darren to the shore without having to resort to the obvious which was jumping back into the chocolate pool, she grabbed a large metal fork and extended it to where Darren was. "This should help! Grab on!"
If the undead boil was going to refuse her help again, she was going to use the fork to poke him or inflict some form of bodily injury on him. There was only so much stubbornness she could take from him without flipping in one day.

If there was one thing Darren wasn't going to do, it was turn down a helping hand when it was offered when the other person wasn't also possibly drowning. So grabbing the fork, he allowed Yvette to pull him to shore, then he crawled up out of the chocolate and rolled over onto his back. "Well that was an adventure," He said as he looked up at Yvette from his place on the ground. He relaxed on his back, not even attempting to move as the chocolate began to solidify on his skin. "Messy, but an adventure all the same."

With the fork having served its intended function, Yvette tossed it aside and gave Darren a small smile, feeling somewhat relieved that the both of them had survived that without any adverse events in spite of the boil's inability to swim. "Yeah. A crazy adventure."
Looking at the chocolate that had messed up her hair and dress and just about everything it had gotten onto, she gave a sigh when it crossed her mind then as to how much of a pain it would be to get all of it out. "We should probably get ourselves cleaned up somewhere first before heading back to the creepateria. We're probably going to get yelled at if we get chocolate everywhere." She would use the hot tub in the privacy of her dorm room but she highly doubted that she would be allowed into the Demon Dorms with how she looked at the present moment.

"There are supposedly hot springs on campus open to students we could try and find, that might be worthwhile. Plus we won't have to worry about tracking chocolate everywhere." Darren said with a sage nod. Honestly he didn't care, he'd go home and just stand in his shower for an hour if that's what it took. It was big enough to do the job but only just. He like the spartan conditions though, reminded him of home.

"It'll be great if we could find ourselves one of them. Hopefully without a teacher or someone else getting on our case for creating a mess wherever we go." Yvette agreed, trying to flick, peel and toss as much of the solidified chocolate as she could off herself before crossing over to attempt to do likewise for Darren. It wasn't quite everything but it would have to do for now till they got themselves to one of those hot springs that Darren had mentioned.
Getting up from the ground, she tugged at his hand impatiently, trying to get him to move from his current position. "Come on then. Let's get out of here."

Darren took her hand without a second thought, and with the offered help, got back on his feet so they could head out of the portal. "I have a vague idea where they are - and I think we'll be okay if we move quickly." With that, he kept a hold of her hand and dragged her though the portal - against any arguments to the contrary.
