After the run in with his mother, Lithian spent some time with his father as promised, thanking him for his gifts and welcoming him to drop in on his and Casseth’s Eowyn home at any time he pleased. He made his way back towards the shore and the Dawnkeeper Hostel, then, his mind sifting over the events of the past day and prior. It weighed heavy on him to combat with his mother, even verbally. As a child, he had always deferred to her, looking up to her and marvelling at her strength. Now — while he knew he could not change himself for her — he wanted her in his life just the same. He wanted her to meet his mate, get to know him, see the house they had built together, the business he worked, and even meet the children he hoped one day to adopt and raise with Casseth.
He wanted her to be proud of him, and as happy with his life, choices, and accomplishments as he was. It seemed an ephemeral, even impossible dream.
As Lithian rounded the wooden walk path down towards the hostel, he paused on the porch, blinking and staring at the sopping figure approaching. All but immediately, the corner of his lips edged up, heavier thoughts forgotten for a moment as amusement seeped into his expression and his eyes danced at his mate’s state.
“Casseth…you’re drenched. Did you go swimming with all your clothes on?” he asked, shifting his stance casually and lifting his palms to pluck at the water even as he spoke and siphoning it off in a neat ribbon.

As Casseth walked the path, back towards the hostel, he couldn’t help but let some of the sadness seep back in. Though he was determined to not let it bother him as much, keeping her out of his thoughts, at times, was a near impossible task. At the sound of his name, though, his gaze jerked up and all those thoughts were washed away at the sight of his mate. The corner of his lips curled up into a smile as he paused while Lithian pulled the water from his clothes and hair, instantly drying him. “Mmm...something like that,” he said as he made his way up onto the porch and tugged Lithian into a tight embrace.
“I was thinking about...things,” Casseth said as he tucked his face close to Lith’s neck. “I went for a walk and then I became one with the earth and I traveled out under the ocean.” He kissed his mate’s neck, soft and lingering. “It was comforting...having your element so close to me.” He paused for a moment before pulling back and giving Lith another smile, though this time it wasn’t as strong of one. “Forget that, though. How did things go at your parents’ home?”

“They…went,” Lithian answered, savoring the feel of Casseth’s lips and working to dismiss the thoughts of his mother. “I spoke with both and welcomed my father to return should he choose. With that done now, though…” He eyed Casseth, smiling lightly. “We do have the evening to ourselves, and clearance until tomorrow…would you like to see some more of the Plane while we have the opportunity?” It went unspoken that this might well be the only opportunity Casseth got to do such a thing. “The Garden of Eternal Spring, as it is called, blooms as its name would suggest and is beautiful…there are also places outside the city we could wander to see and get some space to ourselves.”

Casseth knew very well that this was the first and last time he would likely ever get to see the Celestial Plane in all its glory. Part of him didn’t mind. He so obviously didn’t belong in a place like this. The inhabitants made it clear enough that he wasn’t welcome here. Also, though, this could never be his home The desert was where he belonged in the long run and he was alright with that as long as Lithian was with him. However, some exploring of this new, to him, world would be fun. “I’d love that,” Cas said as he slipped his hand into Lithan’s and squeezed gently.
