Emalthya

Hair: Dark brown hair with a blunt fringe which falls just below her eyebrows. She wears twin black bows in her hair on either side of her head.
Eye color: Emalthya has hazel eyes
Skin color: Emalthya has pale skin
Clothing style: Almost everything she wears is black. Emalthya wears long sleeved tops to avoid sunburn and either skirts (when not on the road) or pants. She wears black buckled boots. When she's travelling by sea or air, Emalthya wears a black hoodie with the hood up, clear goggles and a scarf across her lower face to avoid windrash and projectiles flying into her eyes.

Personality:

Likes: Emalthya likes calm and peace; she gets anxious very easily. She likes to be comfortable, but she also likes to travel around with her Pokemon and experience everything she can with them. This is especially true as she has no family and if they don't travel to make money, they probably won't be comfortable very long. She likes black clothes and hot showers and cute things.
Dislikes: Emalthya hates Team Rocket. She hates people picking on Pokemon or people. She hates being bullied.
Fears/phobias: Emalthya is afraid of high pitched noises, especially made by bugs that suck blood. She is also afraid of Team Rocket.

Talents/skills: Emalthya is an indifferent embroiderer and a rather woeful cook. She is a talented trainer with utter trust in her pokemon.

Pokemon: Pheonix and Saphire

Pheonix

Name: Pheonix
Breed: Charizard
Personality: Pheonix knows what it is like to be small an weak, so now, despite his size, he is very kind and protective to all others. He hates bullying, though he is proud of his strength, speed, and skill; all gained through hard training. He puts himself on the line to protect his human, Emalthya, and his best friend, Saphire.

He is a very perceptive pokemon; the sad look on someone's face or the drag of an opponent's wing. He uses this talent in battle and in life.

Marmalade

Name: Marmalade (Marmy)
Breed: Lopunny
Personality Marmalade suffers from itchy feet, meaning she doesn't like to stay in the same place for long. She hates being settled; nothing special ever seems to happen to people who have a house and a fence and a significant life partner or little bunearys.

From time to time, special and interesting things do happen to her. She is quite willing to give help to legendary pokemon, when they appear to her. Legendary pokemon have shown Marmalady some truly incredible things which she would never have seen otherwise.

Marmalade, in short, is a pokemon on the constant search for adventure.

Brutus

Name: Brutus
Breed: Bulbasaur
Personality: Brutus is a very determined little bulbasaur. He was captured by Team Rocket and transported to Vermilion docks, awaiting a ship to take him who knew where for sale. Happily, he was rescued by Emalthya, who had broken into the warehouse on the docks looking for her stolen lapras, Saphire. Upon finding that Saphire had been shipped out from the same warehouse only days previously, Emalthya, being clung to by an extremely relieved but still terrified dratini, went to the Vermilion police department to report her findings of pokemon being kept in unethical conditions and Brutus ended up being released from his crate at the police station.

Bulbasaurs are not common in Vermilion, so they could not just release him into the nearby forest and the police department tried to figure out what to do with him. While they called in every available officer to check up on pokemon reserves and the safari zone and pokemon habitat professors for all of the freed pokemon, Brutus wandered around the station and sat for a while near Emalthya and Pheonix, his rescuers. He waited for a moment for them to be receptive to his exhibition of thanks and realised that they were not the jubilant heroes he was expecting.

Emalthya had her eyes covered with her hands, repeating "She was here... we missed her... I can't believe we got so close..." or phrases like it in a low, mumble. Pheonix rumbled unhappily and his usual lax demeanour had dissolved; he snapped at anyone approaching them, usually police officers, who, Brutus had to admit, were taking it rather well, considering Emalthya and Pheonix had broken and entered, even if it was a warehouse containing stolen, mistreated pokemon.

When Emalthya's bitter dialogue had abated and her head had slowly sunk into Pheonix's flank into sleep, or a deeply depressed daze, Brutus tentatively approached Pheonix, who did not snap at him in order to keep Emalthya steady. Brutus asked Pheonix about himself and his trainer and Pheonix explained, because he himself was heartbroken at his failure not only to find Saphire, but having not rescued her in the first place, and he desperately wanted someone to talk to about it.

Brutus could hardly believe it. He had been captured from the wild and locked in a box, not even a cage, for days, taken away from his home to be shipped away without his consent, which was bad enough, but to have been in a happy family with a trainer and a best pokemon friend and be taken from them? That was something he could not understand. He could not even pretend that his and Saphire's feelings would have been the same. Bulbasaurs were loyal, but they also spread out to find their own place in the world to nurture, so he didn't feel too unhappy about leaving home, just being carted off against his wishes.

Brutus put his little feet against Emalthya's leg and curled up against both her and Pheonix, trying to comfort them both, while pokemon cried out in ever decreasing numbers as they fell asleep or were taken to the pokemon centre for treatment, and police ran around with phones glued to their heads and one particular officer came up every now and again with a stack of papers, stared at Emalthya, and went away again.

The next morning, Brutus woke up alone. Emalthya and Pheonix were not there, but someone had placed a chair cushion from the waiting room lounge underneath him. He went up to the policewoman at the closest desk, who chuckled at him. "Your friends left this morning, sweetie."

'Sweetie'? thought Brutus, disgusted.

"But you'll be happy to know we have a place to take you," she continued. "We think we can send you to Professor Oak in Pallet Town and he'll give you to a pokemon trainer who is just starting out! Won't that be nice?"

I don't want a new trainer, I want to go with Pheonix and Emalthya! I want to rescue Saphire, I want a good hearted family!

So Brutus ran away from the Vermilion police station and followed Emalthya and Pheonix, which was difficult, as they boarded a ship from Vermillion to try and find where Saphire had gone. He spent weeks tracking them, always turning up to a town just a little after Emalthya and Pheonix had left it; once, he even saw them leave.

The people at these places noticed him and often tried to keep him or, in the case of police officers, tried to send him back to Vermilion police station; the nice policewoman had sent out information packets about Brutus to ask fellow officers to please take care of him, as he was lost and confused.

Brutus is a smart, capable, pragmatic, dogged pokemon. He knows what he wants and what it will take to get it. He will not lose.
