Prompt
Rain Isn't the Only Problem
Prompt 2

Solo or RP Format
Can be used toward Battle req (or RP req only if done with a friend)
Solo word minimum is 500, RP post minimum is 7

There were places in Tendaji that were used to the rain, like Jauhar; others saw it as a blessing, getting so little in their day to day lives, like Tale and Oba. Then there were those individuals who saw to it that they used the rain to its full advantage. The sheets of rain came down and it was easy enough to use the cloak of it as a cover for raiding and looting. With everything seeming so gray, who would be able to see the misty figures dip in and out of a home within a matter of moments? Bandits were on the move and scouring Tendaji for targets.

And it isn’t long before they become your problem.

This prompt can be played from either side: your character can be a looter, or they can be a victim.

This battle prompt will be resolved by rolling 1D100.

xxxxxPrentice must roll 70-100 for success.
xxxxxStage 2 must roll 60-100 for success.
xxxxxStage 3 must roll 50-100 for success.
xxxxxStage 4 must roll 40-100 for success.

|| Success will result in 50exp in addition to the versatile point
|| Failure will only allow for the versatile point credit.

Vollerei had heard, when she'd visited a small Leaf settlement of an increase in bandit activity. Scowling to herself, she took her leave for a bit of Niabi and Neska to hunt these ones down. She had already captured food bandits, destroyed the bandit king and his disgusting ilk... No way was she going to just sit aside while more bandits started to act up! What is it with Leaf earthlings and being bandits? Can they just not find a way to survive without taking away from others?

BarAmal checked the string on his bow. it was wet but hopefully it wouldn't be to much of an issue when it came to drawing back. He was out having heard of some issues with bandits and being a member of the leaf tribe himself couldn't just let others ruin his peoples name. He thought he heard a noise and crouched down low. Something was coming and he wanted to be the one to surprise it if it was a bandit. He waited until it got close and he drew himself from cover ready for a fight.

Despite the disadvantage of one of her antennae missing half it's length, they still sensed the moving slightly above her. It wasn't much.. but it was enough to make her pause and stop, black orbs scanning the surrounding greenery. She saw the skin of something blueish and relaxed. Not a bandit, she thought slightly disappointed. The bandits were by all reports leaf tribe.. so she needed to see brown to attack.

"You want to come out so there's no .. accidents?" She drawled as she stood up and sauntered closer.

The call out was a bit of a surprise. He had thought he was well enough covered still. Could this be a bandit? Coming out with his bow at the ready he was surprised to see the Alkidike still he knew a few others were hunting bandits as well. “Definitely not a bandit.” His eyes glanced over her as he mentally decided she was quite imposing. He turned back to paying more attention to the area around them since he was here to find bandits not ogle tall women.

He was a rather brown shifter by the looks of it... they came in different shades of black? She wondered curiously before returning her attention to surroundings as well. He was well dressed in shifter style of clothing... which meant he was not the leaf bandits, which she already suspected but it was nice to have a confirmation.

"You here to hunt down the bandits as well?" If he was.... perhaps he had already found traces of them... she knew how easily they could hide in jungle and had worried about spending too much time away from Niabi and Neska on this task. If he already knew the area they may be in then her searching time would be reduced significantly."If you are, we should team up.. otherwise we'll just trip over each other and teh bandits might get away."

“I would hope so considering how wet it is and how silly it is to be tracking them in the rain.” BarAmal gave the reply in a flat voice without thinking then realizing how rude it was as first. As soon as he was done he realized his transgression and gave the woman an apologetic glance. “Sorry the jungle is nothing like my home in Isd so having spent a while trying to track the bandits down has made my temper short..er. Assistance would be appreciated. I saw tracks in this direction but the distortion from the rain makes it hard to tell how long ago it was.” He gestured to his left and pointed in the direction of several dwellings that were actually in the trees. “They might have hidden in some of the local homes, but it’s hard to check them all calmly knowing the first step in is likely an ambush.” His hand tightened on his bow knowing how hard it was to deal with close combat with a ranged weapon. He really should do some training with a stick or something so he knew how to use other weapons as well.

Vollerei chuckled and waved away his apology; "Don't worry bout it! I love the rain but then I grew up on the Isles." She followed his direction and thought for a moment. It did make sense...

"They're probably hiding in there. What say we go in and spring their trap?" Her grin turned viscous, made more disturbing by the long scars extending from her lips across her cheeks. "Little leaf bandits all in one spot. It would have been better to stay out in the jungles." She turned her black eyes to BarAmal. "I'm Vollerei and I've got plenty of practice hunting little earthling bandits in these parts. If they'd stayed int he jungle they could keep running... but now they've holed up in a building. That means they can't escape." Her voice was low and eager; she was going to kill these bandits and let none escape.

And it was with that smile that BarAmal realized just why his father a shifted always respected this warrior woman’s people. They were downright bloody minded. “BarAmal. If you take point I will offer support.” He held his bow up and though it was wet he knew full well it was strong enough to fire and his aim was good enough that he could fire into a building and help keep the woman safe. The only trouble would be his grip on the string and so long as he curled his fingers back more his shots might be a fraction slower but it would ensure her safety. “Or I can play the bait if you want to make use and swing over me?” He thought to offer it as an option though it was less feasible given her weapon just in case she was uncomfortable. He didn’t hide that it would be dangerous but at least way when she searched as she likely would have alone she knew she would have back up. He started to head toward the buildings regauldless figuring she could answer him along the way. She did not seem the type to plan to far out so as he walked he scanned the soaked land for good places the bandits might hide should they get past the pair of them. It would be good to know for later.

Vollerei snorted with amusement; "Why bother? I was just going to kick the door down and slaughter em... They'll either try to run or try to fight. If they run..." She nodded at his bow. "You can get them. If they fight?" She grinned; "Lil earthling bandits are no match for an Alkidike!"

Arrogant of her yes, but true enough. Bandits, Vollerei had found out, tended to work in packs or pick on weaker subjects. They relied more upon fear and stealth than skill at arms.... at least all the ones she'd hunted had at least!

If it'd been a bunch of skilled warriors, people who trained and practiced rather than scrawny bandits who took from those weaker than them, Volerei may have thought it out a bit more. But there weren't too many of them and she did have back up so why bother? It was just bandits!

Yes bloody minded was the nice way to put it. “As you say.” He pulled his arrow knock against his string once more. He was a bit worried about just barging into people’s homes but still since they were bandit hunting there was no telling if there were hostages in the homes so a surprise was the best way to go. “Let’s start with that one on the end. It looks a bit apart from the others so it would be a good place to hide. They might thing that any noises would be muffled in the rain and they would be right likely.” He took a glance at her antennae. Perhaps they would give her an edge entering the building though perhaps going from rain to nothing would be a hindrance instead? He really had no idea. Still she was really confident and seemed more experienced then himself so it would likely turn out alright. “So straight in it is than. Ladies first?” He gave her a slight smile hoping she wouldn’t take offense. Did her kind that was all females anyway find humor in such things?

I think there shall be 6 (not the 5 she sensed) two will make a run for it and you get them then can join in and finish off the ones inside with Volle!

She grinned and chuckled; ladies first ehh? Must be an earthling thing to say, she thought with amusement as she stalked towards the building he indicated. The rain made her eyesight that much worse, but her antennae were working just fine. There were movements in several of the buildings; faint but there. But as she got closer to the target building, she began to pick up more vibrations. She grinned; a full house! Even if they weren't bandits she was gonna enjoy kicking that door in! The expressions on whoever was in side would be worth it!

She approached from the side where there wasn't a window. Raining heavily it may have been, but someone her size was going to be seen far too easily anyways so she tried to minimize the chance of forewarning any scouts. Once she reached the door she paused and waited; her single un-damaged antennae twitching as she tried to get a count on those inside. It was difficult, but she managed to pick up about five people. She held out her hand with all fingers extended and then pointed to the door; trying to indicate to her companion how many were inside.

Then she grinned, dark orbs gleaming with faint malice as she kicked the door in with extreme prejudice. Beyond were four people, three sitting around a table, one leaning up against the wall next tot he door. She couldn't see the fifth but that didn't matter. Right now she saw bandits, scruffy looking men looking over stolen goods who had shocked expressions on their faces.

Taking advantage of that first few seconds of complete surprise, Vollerei stabbed her spear into the one standing right next to her and used her spear to throw the man at the table and companions.

"Hello boys." She practically purred.

As the tall woman stood confidently to the building BarAmal knocked an arrow and kept back but made sure she was in site. He wasn’t certain what she was planning as she moved along in the downpour. It was clear she was familiar with whatever tactic she had in mind though. That was somewhat comforting. For some reason her just standing before the door was strange until BarAmal saw a hand up with fingers splayed. Only five? Well that was a good thing. He had far more arrows than that to offer support. Nodding he moved quickly into a better position only to see the warrior kick in the door with enough force that he was certain the neighboring homes could hear the crack and wonder if their own homes were under assault. It was only a short moment latter the first scream started. Where all of her people so war mongering? BarAmal blinked and fired as a bandit came rushing past the woman who just moved deeper into the room. Cursing he wished she would have stayed back and been a lure to get the men out so they could be taken from the doorway itself. Still this worked but he would have to run in and make sure she was alright. Even though he knew he was using her as bait he didn’t feel good about the idea of leaving her in there with five… no four assailants. The man he had just fired at was hit squarely in the windpipe and would be a threat no longer.

It took a moment but as BarAmal was heading to the building another bandit rushed out. He had actually surprised BarAmal with the look of fear on his face. Still already set for combat it was easy to launch an arrow into the mans torso. He clutched his chest and tried to run so BarAmal put another arrow into each leg. The man was then writhing on the ground unable to keep running. BarAmal thought it might be best to keep him alive to question. Still why would he come out running like that? It had been four against one in the room and how scary could his temporary bandit hunter really be? he headed in to find out.

opps.. never did quote you for this XD
Vollerei in close quarters is not a good thing for her foes; she's got longer reach, great weight and strength to put behind her spear, and is just as willing to use a punch or kick if they get inside her spears reach. And on these foes, she had no mercy; Bandits were trash to her. People who stole from others instead of putting in the time and effort themselves; weaklings and useless wastes of space the lot of them!

She was on top of the seated leaf males before they could do more than stagger upright as the dead body of their companion scattered the items on the table. Another dead as she pounced upon him; an elbow into the throat with all the immense weight of the tall hefty alkidike behind it. Her spear she used to keep the two at bay until she'd righted herself and regained her balance. Then she stopped being defensive and charged once more, bullying them into the walls where they made an easy target for a kick and her spear.

She was not paying attention to the doorway leading further into the building, where the last and sixtgh member of the small group was readying an arrow.

The rain was as much his friend as it had been his enemy. It masked his steps as he moved forward. The doorway was blocked by a man and reacting BarAmal ‘punched’ his bow forward and struck the man knocking him inward. There was a twang and with some horror BarArmal realized the one he struck was an archer who had been aiming in the room. Pulling back he shot the man in the stomach and then turned to see where the arrow fired went. Seeing a good number of overturned furniture and what seemed to be dead bodies BarAmal only felt relief when he saw the alkidike was alive and moving. A small bit of relief settled down knowing the woman who he had used as bait was alright. He was glad the warrior could handle herself just fine. “Any wounds?” He glanced around the dim room almost expecting another ambush but it was just the flicking from a small cooking fire in the room. “Any more bandits you think?” A groan escaped from the man he shot in the stomach. “I felled a few out in the rain and one might be trying to crawl away. We can question them if you think we need to.”

Volllerei felt an arrow whip by her head and whirled around in time to see the unseen archer collapse with an arrow in his belly. It was good to have someone watching her back! If he'd been any slower....

She gave the hybrid a toothy grin; "I usually just kill them or haul them to a nearby village and leave them there to be dealt with.... And since we're in a village... guess tie them up and look for the actual residents? Why'd you bother questioning them? They'll just lie."
