Littleroot Town is located in southwestern Hoenn. It is where players of the Hoenn-based games start their Pokémon journeys. Hoenn's region-exclusive professor, Professor Birch, has a laboratory in the town that he uses for research on Pokémon.
The only exit of the town is north, which leads to Route 101 and Oldale Town beyond.

Once in Littleroot, Oliver released his team. Yuki the Amaura, Ferdinand the Kabuto, and Xion the Aerodactyl all greeted Czar. Czar turned his head away from them. Why did he have to be in such a...a...an energetic team? He growled under his breath at the injustice of it. Yuki turned to Andy, confused to the new Pokemon's attitude, but then she looked at the expression on Oliver's face and understood perfectly. This new Pokemon mirrored himself. "Hello, Czar. I'm sorry that you're not comfortable with us, yet." She spoke softly, her eyes like a warm lake. Czar looked at her and nodded, not wanting to say anything,
Xion tilted his head. "He's quiet." It was partially a question and a statement. Yuki smiled at the ancient. "Yes, well, it's going to take him some time." But, Xion found himself impatient. Everyone else was so nice! He was truly enjoying his new team, and then this lizard had to butt in. The aerodactyl pouted to himself.
Oliver looked at his watch and whistled. It was later in the day than he had thought at first. They needed to get a move on before night came. He wanted to at least get to the next town. "Alright guys, we have to go. Return." The Pokemon all returned to their balls except Czar, who Oliver had stay on his shoulder.

Oliver and Czar walked in silence for a while. Birds could be heard in the distance. It was a beautiful day, all things considered. He had his starter and his other friends, and they were all starting their journey together. What was there to complain about? As he cpontinued his trek, a Pokemon jumped out to fight. They were about halfway to the next town when another Pokemon jumped out. Oliver grabbed Czar by the scruff and then placed him on the ground. "Let's see what you're made of , Sticky Fingers. "

Ferdinand, Yuki, Xion, and Czar. Kabuto, Amaura, Aerodactyl, and Treecko. Well, one certainly wasn't the same as the others. Oliver remembered when he first got Yuki. How dangerous that cave was. Every noise had made the teenager jump. It was six years go that he found her, and five since he met her. That year had been so long. But, he finally had his first Pokemon. They became friends instantly. She became his shoulder to lean on. The dinosaur was everything to him.

Ferdinand. Andy. The Kabuto that marked the change in his life. Oliver always had mixed feelings about him. The fossil was quiet and mysterious. He was certainly loyal, but there was a lack of emotion that emitted from the Pokemon. On top of that, Oliver was holding the fossil of Andy when the avalanche happened. The boulder rolling over her body. It twisted his mind. At first, Oliver hated Ferdinand. He didn't name him until recently. Oliver never really talked to him. Now, the trainer wanted to make up for that. He knew he had neglected the Pokemon, and maybe that was why the Pokemon was so..abnormal.

The Aerodactyl was a bit of a surprise. Oliver was so excited to start his journey and see Willow again. He had two fossil Pokemon now, and she would see that they were alive. He had went to go catch her a Swablu, which he remembered as a child as her favorite Pokemon. It had been hard to catch it, but Yuki helped. They finally got one and brought it back home. When they did, his father grabbed the ball and came back without a word. It was a different ball; scratched and used. Oliver had called out the Pokemon, and it certainly wasn't a Swablu. His father then told him what happened. Oliver loved Xion's carefree spirit. The two instantly bonded and began getting into mischief together.

And then there was Willow herself. His father's father's mother's sister's daughter's daughter. It was confusing. She had been so cheerful as a child. And then the accident happened. She was skittish and shy. He remembered how sweet she was. They had bonded over the few months they spent together. They made promises of meeting again, but that was years ago. Since then, his mother died, and she was involved in some other accident that no one understood what happened. What was she like now? His father told him that she had two poison Pokemon. That was hard to believe.
He also missed the gang already. It was strange not hearing their bickering. But, he had other friends to keep him company. Oliver smiled at Czar, who seemed confused by the attention.

Oliver lifted his foot as something glistened where he was about to step. There was a strange scale in the shape of a heart. He picked it up and turned it over, trying to figure out what it was. It didn't seem that special, but Czar was acting very interested. The trainer smiled and handed the object to the Treecko. "Knock yourself out." Czar felt a shimmer go through his body after the scale was gone. He knew a new attack. A strong attack. Let Oliver see him fight. The human would see what not bad was. After the thought was finished,a Pokemon jumped from the bushes.

Oliver was a bit surprised. He grinned at the Treecko. Now they were getting somewhere! Those scales had to be something special. "I knew picking you was a good idea." Czar grinned back, knowing he could handle himself now. He walked beside Oliver as they made their way to the next town. They would be there soon. It was getting late, and Oliver didn't want to spend his first night sleeping without a sleeping bag. He had forgotten to get one.
