Most of the time Elle didn't have to travel far to a job, and when she did she carpooled or got a ride. And other times things didn't line up and she cursed about her lack of foresight and willingness to buy a car.

In this case, she had been foiled by her unplanned roommate and little sister, who had sworn up and down she would pick her up after the scheduled party where Elle was entertaining in full costume. Shay was awol, though, and so was the car she occasionally borrowed from their neighbor. This meant after the chic princess tea party Elle had been part of the package for as a party planning company employee and cast member, she was doomed to walk the several blocks home dressed as Snow White and toting along her bag of extra supplies that weren't used.

And the entire time she was thinking very unprincessy thoughts about what to do about the teenage delinquent sibling who had forgotten her.

Mercy had needed a walk. That is to say, she had been about ready to punch Johnathan in the nose if he didn't stop teasing the ever living... stuff out of her. She scrubbed at her eyes for a moment, trying to not cry as she thought about how mean her older brother was - and how much of a jerk he'd been to her not even a half-hour ago.

She was not going to rise to the bait - nope. Let him call her a child, she knew better.

Shaking her head, she reached into her purse and checked her phone. Still no messages from her friend about if it was safe for her to come and visit... Grumbling at that, she turned the corner and had to stop for a moment as she encountered Snow White walking up the street not half a block away.

Well things just got interesting.

Regardless from what her brother said her love of tea parties and princesses and things was far from childish. So she made quick time to catch up with the fleeing princess - thankful that she'd stuck with sensible sneakers for this venture - and a fashionable pair of jeans and a nice long sleeve top - since her father didn't allow her out of the house unless EVERYTHING was covered anymore.

"Do you need a hand?" Mercy quietly asked as she caught up with the woman, who looked like someone in definite need for a ride.

"Or a ride?"

She could probably talk her mom or dad into it... Maybe.

Elle stopped, freezing in her tracks before she turned to look at the teenager who approached her. She raised on eyebrow and looked around before she turned to face her entirely and primly made sure she was poised.

"My home is only a few blocks away, I'm just coming back from work," She said politely. "But thank you for your offer."

Being in full casting costume was definitely a weird sight. Sometimes. To some people. Elle was certain she didn't get as many awkward stares or questions because Destiny City was plagued by much more dangerous people in costumes.

On the other hand, she recognized a few tell tale signs of recently rubbed eyes and being on the verge of crying that tended to linger, and she shifted her fingers together as she though before making a point to lean in to show some concern. "Are you alright?"

"Oh, okay, I'm sorry if I'm intruding-" Mercy began, before being brought short by the question as she began to turn away. She chewed her bottom lip, her hands starting to fidget as she contemplated lying to this complete stranger.

"I'm..." She faltered at first, before finally looking up at the older woman.

"My brother just teased me is all... He says my hobbies are kid stuff..." She shook her head.

"But, I'm not a child..." she protested weakly.

"So what if I like to have tea parties and collect unicorns... is that wrong? Don't grown women get together and have book discussions over tea and cakes and... biscuits..." Her tone was getting angrier by the second.

"And, where does he get off calling my Unicorn collection childish when he still collects football cards... not even like... baseball cards... FOOTBALL CARDS." If she were a cat her hackles would be all the way up at this point.

Suddenly her eyes widened and her face immediately flushed red as she coverd her mouth - realizing she'd just had something akin to a temper tantrum in front of an adult stranger.

"I am so sorry... I uhm... I should probably... uhm... go..."

She looked down, and started to scoot away - mortified.

"I..." Elle seemed speechless for a long moment, not expecting the outpouring of information. However, when Mercy concluded she should leave, Elle reached out for her.

"No, it's... it's alright," She stammered a bit awkwardly. There was nothing about this that wasn't awkward, and Elle was not exactly great at navigating curveballs. Her social skills were dry following of protocol from etiquette training and there was really not established guide on how to deal with a strange teenager in the street while wearing a sort of an undignified puffy princess costume.

"Well I mean, I'm a grown woman and look at what I'm wearing," She said with a nervous, self depreciating laugh.

Inside though, she felt like she was grinding her molars together hoping this didn't turn into a scene. Any more than it already was.

"I think you look fabulous though," Mercy admitted plainly, taking a deep breath and forcing herself to calm down. Obviously she hadn't turned this woman off a conversation completely.

"I mean, if I could I'd wear a nice dress every day. But, you do that anymore and people stare at you. I think you're really cool for wearing it." She nodded.

"Well, if you're... not opposed to it, since you said your house isn't far - do you mind if I walk with you to your house? It's better for us girls to go in groups, or so my father says."

Not to mention she wanted to talk more.

"It is my for my job," Elle said, the corners of her mouth daring to turn up in a very restrained smile, although she picked up the edges of the top layer of skirts and made a small curtsey.

"I sew quite a few components myself, so I am flattered you find it lovely. I would find a companion for the duration of my walk to be lovely, thank you," She said in a voice that was the closest Elle got to happily crooning at compliments, making a small, if stiff, motion to welcome Mercy to walk beside her.

"I also enjoy tea," She offered after a moment, adjusting her bag on her shoulder. "As do two of my dearest friends. It is a very refined education to have for a young lady, you shouldn't allow anyone to tell you to find shame in the things you appreciate."

"Well I'd love to have that job, it sounds fun," Mercy laughed a little as she fell in beside Elle as she started to get back on her way. "I'd ask you to hook me up now... but I'm still too young to get a job."

It was pretty obvious she was coming out of preteenhood, though her clothes were trying to scream mature teenager... trying REALLY hard.

"I will have to remember that... I wish I knew where all these people who enjoy tea meet up at... only one of my friends really puts up with it."

Elle nodded as if she understood. Her childhood wasn't an all encompassing experience by any means but she did recall feeling lonely with the peers fate brought to her in school.

Finding people to interact who had similar interests was a much easier task when you weren't confined to the expectations of a minor's daily schedule.

She stopped in front of a small, one story bungalow home with expertly tended flowerpots lining a wood planked patio and its wicker furniture. "This is my stop," She said flatly, although she meant it to be a joke. Elle was not good at jokes.

"Would you like to come in? People are rarely around for conversation so early in the afternoon."

Mercy started to visibly deflate when Elle mentioned that the small house was her stop before perking immediately up when she was invited inside.

"I would... love to actually if I'm not imposing."

She was actually enjoying the conversation she was having with the older female immensely and it was more than she could usually get out of her mother on any given good day.

She waited politely to be let in, her fingers fidgeting a bit as she tried to think of another topic to keep the conversation alive.

"So... what's it like? Your job, that is."

"Never, darling," Elle smiled, opening the door and making an inviting gesture.

A white blur of fur scattered under a chair at the sound of the door opening, but otherwise the home was as carefully put together as anything other part of herself Elle considered a presentation to the outside world.

"Exhausting, really, is the only word that comes to mind," She laughed, heading down the hallway and closing a door behind her with a whispered 'excuse me'. She continued to speak through it, however.

"Wearing a corset and so many layers takes more upper body strength than one typically imagines, especially since you need to maintain posture without faltering for hours."

She exited in a vintage dress that fell to her knees and hair pulled back-- Elle's version of casual.

"I don't plan to do it forever, but in spite of its trials I do enjoy it, more than I am usually willing to admit. "Do you prefer English teas or Asian teas, young lady?"

Mercy opened her mouth to thank Elle when she was officially invited in, but was quickly distracted by the white blur that suddenly zoomed under a chair.

"You have a very nice home Miss..." Mercy frowned for a moment, chewing her bottom lip as she found a blank to be where this young woman' name should be. Had she, in her upset, completely forgotten to exchange names with her?

Yes, yes she had.

She smiled sheepishly and followed the older woman until she was stopped by the door. She didn't mind waiting, it gave her time to look around and listen to Elle.

"It sounds different than anything I've ever heard anyone doing... Almost like being an actress or something - having to take on a role like that and play that character until the job is done..." Mercy smiled and then thought a moment at the woman's question.

"Uhm, English teas I think - I haven't tried many Asian ones yet..." She was still a very novice tea aficionado. It was hard to get good tea into the house what with her father being a coffee drinker and her mother VERY set in her shopping list.

"Adelardi. And thank you," She gave a slight curtsey before making her way to the kitchen, hands drawn up thoughtfully near her collarbone.

"Oh, I have this new earl gray that goes wonderfully with these lemon cakes. Sit, sit," She was never excitable, but this might have been as close as she came to it.

"I want to be an actress, but, it's a... difficult industry to break into. But I can play a character and I enjoy costumes and sewing, so it's not a bad stopgap for some extra money..."

Elle assembled the table for a spur of the moment afternoon tea with quick finesse, having already made cakes in the fridge that were spruced up with a fresh dusting of powered sugar and laid on on ornately painted china.

"I actually learned about Asian teas first, but this is a lovely choice too. The bergamot note in this is divine, I just picked it up at the market and I've used this twice already."

We could probably fade to a close on some casual chit chat!

"Thank you Ms. Adelardi... I'm Mercy, Mercy Haynes." It was only polite to give her full name after being invited into the woman's house and besides, she was offering her tea and...

Shaking her head, she sat as she was commanded, smiling as she listened to the other woman talk. She was actually a little surprised that Elle was having a hard time getting into the industry - she had the look of an actress...

Still she was glad to have the opportunity to be able to say that she knew her before she was famous, and made a note to send good vibes her way.

"I'm sure it's going to be lovely, ah... This looks great!" She tried to dust herself off a bit and tried to fix her hair a tad - feeling a bit under dressed in comparison to her hostess but still...

"You'll have to tell me more about Asian teas! I have absolutely no idea what ones are good and we only really get the supermarket brands in the house..."

Carneli
We can probably call it here X3
