I know I rave on a lot about this woman, but she wrote and sang this song and, knowing what she's gone through and knowing what I and many in this guild have been dealing with for most or all of our lives... Well, it definitely deserves recognition.

She said this in the comments:

"Thank-you to all our fans for being so accepting and supportive of my change. It has been a crazy year transitioning Rabbit [her robot persona], but I'm grateful for the kindness everyone has shown me. 7 years ago I would have thought it was crazy if someone said I could be the woman I want to be, especially on stage...but ultimately someone did tell me, it just took until a little over a year ago when Sam [Hatchworth of "Steam Powered Giraffe"] pointed out "why not?" That little bug turned into a big decision for both my character and the band...and presenting on stage helped fuel my own personal transition six months ago.

The journey isn't over yet, but I am very excited to have Rabbit's first album coming up where she's transitioned. This next year is quite eventful for Steam Powered Giraffe with Vice Quadrant and Steam World Heist, and I hope you enjoy all of the new work to come. Thank you once again! smile ~Isabella

Sure thing! They're a very talented group, and Bunny's only one of the team. I got to see them perform live at RealmsCon last year, and believe you me, they're every bit as entertaining and magical in person as they are in their videos. They're also avid gamers, David and Bunny in particular, and stream on Twitch from time to time. I can't wait for Steamworld Heist to come out; they're making the entire soundtrack for it and will have a cameo in the gameplay!

They really are. There's honestly nothing like it.

My most favorite part of watching her transition has got to be the difference she has emotionally. When she wasn't living as the woman she wanted to be, you could see it during photoshoots and performances and things. Her eyes and face were so fake, and it hurt looking at her. Then, she took the steps and ugh! Watching her become happy like that, genuinely happy made me soar. You can just see it beaming from her now, how much happier she feels this way.

It makes me smile.

She definitely does seem to be much happier and free of heart. Before her transition, she was a lot of fun, of course, and gave her all to the character and her performance, but the changes she's made and the steps she's taken have definitely improved her morale and unlocked the floodgates for her self-expression.

If you haven't read the way the band altered Rabbit's backstory to fit Bunny's transition yet, you definitely should. I love that they didn't change the character at all, really, just added on to it, like discovering an easter egg in a game or something.

Oooo~ I didn't know they changed it! I have to go read it now.

I love that they didn't change Rabbit. He was my favorite before, and she's my favorite now, haha. Man, I really have to read the timeline again. I should probably get caught up on the small story changes anyway.

Aside from the eradication of Upgrade from all memory, I can't think of a time when they did change the storyline. Even when Jon left, they just threw in leaving a little note about the Jon leaving to see the world. It really speaks to their dedication to the story and their integrity as writers and artists. Have you been keeping up with the comic, by the by?

Yeah, I wonder why they erased Upgrade. Nothing bad went down in the band, maybe she asked? Similarly to how Juju Magic was taken down given it was Jon's song. Who knows?

But no, I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm following Bunny on Deviantart, so I get a fancy notification whenever she uploads a new page, I just haven't been actually READING them.

The growth of the band over the past few years has been incredible, and Hatchworth is the perfect addition. My little sister loves him.

Haha Hatchworth is awesome. My friends and I rode the elevator with Sam Luke at Realmscon last year, and he proved to be a very nice and genuine person.

I'm not sure what happened to Upgrade either. They say on the page that she left due to artistic differences, and it's possible she wanted to pursue something on her own and didn't want memories and fans of Steam Powered Giraffe going with her. It's understandable, I suppose, especially if she's trying to do something solo. As for Jon, I heard a plausible rumor about why he left, but it was third-hand information, so I'm not completely sold on its reliability. He's still friends with the remaining members, though, and he's been working on something -- new music, probably -- with Michael Reed.

I saw them with Jon at the zoo in San Diego a few years ago. It was pretty cool. He seemed very separated from the character he was supposed to be, however. He was just a person and not a character during signings, while both Bunny and David were in character.
The members said he left because he wasn't putting in enough effort, and he was detached from the music and the band as a performance. Not writing songs, not doing much for the band musically, and just not being very involved anymore. So they left on mutual understanding, which is all well and good. He spent a good deal of time in Africa after he left the band. Thought that was pretty neat.

Oh gosh I'm so happy for her! I love SPG, and especially Bunny. This is so wonderful to see. And gosh I've always wanted to see them live. I'd love to see the new Bunny as well, very exciting.
