Corinth was discovering that spending time away from his usual route lead to a lot of interesting situations. Not that his was a bad thing. At least this time he'd taken it upon himself to send a text message off to his girlfriend to let her know he wasn't going to be on their usual route and that he was scouting around to see if he could find them an area they could expand into.

He didn't expect a reply right away - it was getting close to crunch time school wise and he probably really should be studying but since he was pretty sure he was going to get into DCU in the fall anyway...

He didn't even really worry about it.

He wasn't really paying attention to what was going on energy aura wise - but then he still hadn't quite learned how important that was.

Galena had not gotten to patrol since her promotion, a validating experience that had rocked the way she had been on a downward slope about her place in both her faction and the war at large. Her options as laid out by the more informed knights she'd spoken to sounded appealing, but for now she was reveling in the power and acknowledgement that came with her knew uniform and weapons.

The quite possibly most exhilarating thing she had felt in a long time was an aura she could distinctly recognize as weaker than her own. Galena was no longer at the bottom of the food chain. And so her typically dead expression seemed just a bit more exuberant than normal as she approached the page, arms crossed and shoulders squared with official and authoritative posture in spite of her short stature.

"All alone, this evening, little page?"

It wasn't until the power signature was almost on top of him that he noticed it - and when he did he realized he had no time to flee. Frowning, he remembered feeling a smiliar power signature before.

The zoo.

That had not gone well for him, but he'd gotten out by the skin of his teeth.

Turning his attention to the woman as she appeared, he crossed his arms over his chest defiantly. He was also protecting his starseed... He already knew how that was and had no desire to go through it again.

"Yes, I'm alone. Should I not be?" He replied.

"Also, it's rude not to introduce yourself when you talk to someone - I'm Corinth, Page of Neptune... and you are?"

Maybe if he acted more confident than he felt she'd not want a fight and go away...

"Oh, please don't think me rude, I was merely confessing a concern for your safety," Galena responded, but in a tone just over the top enough to convey the lack of sincerity.

Normally, Galena was not the type for expression or toying with people, but tonight with the added ego of accomplishment and promotion pumping her up and presenting her with an easy target, there would be an exception. Suddenly, Merlinite and Cinnabar made more more sense. This was fun.

"A pleasure, Corinth, Page of Neptune," She said, taking a ladylike bow. "I am Captain Galena of the Negaverse."

"I have a feeling the pleasure is purely yours, miss," she was probably too young to be a ma'am, but what did he know. It really didn't matter, she was being polite, so he could at least be civil.

"Though, I was under the impression that your group was out for blood. Am I wrong in that regard?"

He would rather not be caught off-guard if she was intending to try and kick his a** anyway.

"Though, I am slightly confused as to why you are concerned for my safety, I thought your group hated mine."

"That may be. It is better to be the wolf than the lost lamb in many cases, as the lamb can only hope for the wolf's choice to be kind. But that doesn't mean I am out for your starseed this night, Page."

Galena stood up straight again. Someone of too much pride in spite of lacking a physically imposing figure.

"Actually I have a vested interest in your group. You are the order version of our own side, are you not? The other side of the coin. I've only met knights, the equivalent of our generals in person. What is your function, as a page, Sir Corinth? I'm dying to know."

"I'm far from a lamb, and more than capable of defending myself, Miss." Corinth said, though he was sure the Captain would probably have an easy time of wiping the floor with him just based on their differences in power - but that didn't mean he was going to let her get away with making him feel like an infant.

"The same as yours, I suppose - I mean... I'm not just going to give away secrets." Corinth laughed. "I'm not an idiot and I know when I'm being pumped for intel."

He narrowed his eyes a bit at her. "I'd say I'd give tit-for-tat but I have no means of knowing anything you tell me is true, and my... experience with your people is less than savory to say the least."

He'd only died - well... ALMOST died.

"What secrets?" Galena asked in a way that seemed like it would naturally be followed by a snort of derision that never came, leaving the awkwardly accusatory tone hanging in the air.

"I have spoken to several of Order's creatures, the one thing they all agree on is there is no organization. No structure. You are floating, sir, and as such your secrets are your own."

She summoned a small knife to her hand, absentmindedly playing with the small blade that rested between her fingers.

"There are senshi on the order side I'm fond of, and would not be opposed to fighting beside. I want want's best for me, you see. I don't owe Metallia or my general my loyalty when I was strong armed into service in the first place. I have no cause except survival, and if that survival is better benefited by choosing knighthood over captaincy, then it is in my best interest to know. That is all."

"Well we won't kill you for messing up if that's what you're insinuating." Corinth replied to her last statement. "I'm sorry you were... conscripted? I didn't know that was even possible." It... made a scary amount of sense though.

"You, are very right about the disorganization - at least as far as I can tell there really isn't any sort of... Order... To things."

Irony, cruel beast you be.

"But to be honest I really don't have anything to hide... All I do is patrol, dust youma as I find them and help out Senshi if I come across them... Oh and fight officers too but you're the first I've met that didn't want to try and kill me."

"Conscripted might be the word. I suppose. Chaos can be forced into you whether you ant it or not. All it requires is someone of the appropriate rank with their hand in your chest."

Galena's brows raised and she shifted her weight from one hip to the other, as if she had just realized something and was thinking it over.

"Right, we could be killed if we mess up," She murmured. "I remember, that was my original fear, for obedience. I've since learned death is normally a mercy, though. People have been given to crueler officers as pets or left to be fed to the youma in the Rift. I've seen one officer saved... at the price of their humanity. She now walks with monstrous features and scales lining her skin."

She glanced him over at his answer regarding his activities. "Yes but... why?"

"Because you hurt people, and someone has to keep them safe..." Corinth said, watching the Captain with a slightly quizzical expression. How could she not see that? How much suffering they were making people experience.

"I mean - my girlfriend has been put in the hospital... I almost died as a civilian once." He didn't want to admit that - but he had to. It was legitimate evidence of their wrongdoing.

"If we knights and senshi don't serve as arbiters of justices then nobody will..."

"I haven't hurt anyone," Galena said, appearing hurt and insulted. "On the contrary, I've been accosted by an eternal senshi and subjected to a search against my will."

She raised her shoulders in a small shrug. "The energy we use goes... somewhere. Allegedly for a greater good. At the end of the day, whose justice? And what greater good? I don't think any of us know, but many of us are just trying to survive the night."

"I meant in general - a collective you... but anyway..." Corinth felt a little bad that she'd thought he was accusing her directly - but she kind of had a point... There wasn't really any rhyme or reason to what anyone was doing... The Negaverse might have a plan... but how much of that filtered down to the rank-and-file beyond... do this - do that!

Frowning he crossed his arms for a moment. "I... really didn't mean to insult you - so I'm sorry for that... And I'm sorry you were accosted and subjected to an illegal search... granted we're not cops so it's not like any of us have to really follow the law... But I kinda figured people would be better than that - guess it takes all kinds..."

What was good? What was just? What was right... Corinth really didn't know. But he did know that someday, somebody needed to step in and try to corral the side of order and try to bring it to... well... order.

"So... what now? Are your questions answered? Do we go our separate ways or do I have to fight my way out?... Am I free to go?" Corinth was beginning to get paranoid having stood around so long in one place.

"Oh! No. I pride myself on nonviolence, ser Corinth," Galena said with a small bow.

"Thank you for the discussion, I wish you a pleasant evening."

She didn't seem to carry on much about whatever insults she pretended to take, and he didn't seem to have the information she was seeking. To toy with him further would be a waste of time. She turned on her heel, and with no warning, vanished. Teleported out of the area.

Corinth breathed a sigh of relief when the officer vanished. He didn't even wait to see if she might be laying a trap - he bolted, taking off in a random direction in the hope of shaking any pursuit that might be following.

You never could be too safe...

Once he was sure that he wasn't being tailed. He landed and powered down, pulling out his phone to text his girlfriend about the strange encounter he'd just had...
