Jessamine's snowy curls were still damp from her bath and tumbled in a heavy mass about her slender shoulders, her bright crimson eyes heavy lidded with contentment as she basked in the clearing next to the small pool, bathed in starlight that made her coat gleam. Her stomach bulged slightly, she had eaten not long before and her mind was sharp, her maddening hunger sated for the moment. Her cleaver was a few feet away from her, reverently placed atop a small grassy hillock within easy reach, it's glistening red edge spoke plainly of it's recent use. The mare's other Cleaver, her owl familiar, was off hunting as well, she would return soon, she always managed to find her way back, no matter what odd place Jessamine settled. Not that it was hard to find her these days, since she had joined her father's herd, she had carved out this small piece of solitude in his lands. She appreciated the safety and acceptance her family's presence represented, despite the confusing welter of emotions their sudden appearance had triggered, but she was used to a solitary existence and she found the constant presence of others' wearing. Two days prior, her daughters had shown up, hot on the heels of her lover, their father, and despite her happiness at seeing them, she had been avoiding them ever since.
Jessamine hadn't seen Sangria since she had carefully placed her in her basket and then left her for Relic to find. Hadn't even known her name until now. Belle had emerged from her basket before she had had a chance to find her a home, and she had been possessive, perhaps cruelly so, hiding her daughter away from the cruel world to try to protect her. And hadn't she been right to do so? Jezabelle now carried the heavy weight of sorrow and anger on her shoulders, she had loved and lost, born children and watched them leave home, and now was left alone. Even as Jessamine had been. The foolish child should have heeded her warnings and stayed where her mother could protect her. And their brother.... She knew where to start the search for him, but she wasn't sure she wanted to give them the information the sought. She felt a small surge of jealousy at her daughter's insistence that she reveal his whereabouts, had they come to reunite with her or only to use her for what she knew.
Jessamine's gaze was pensive as she watched the branches wave idly above her head. She had never been much of a mother, didn't really know how to be one truth be told, she didn't remember her own, didn't remember anybody from her past. Not really, her father and sister told her stories of her childhood but they struck no familiar chords, she had always thought that finding out about her past would quench some raging thirst within but it had only left her feeling more empty, more confused... And angry. Would her children hate her?
Her thoughts wandered to Relic, she had barely been able to keep her eyes off of him, her heart fluttering in her chest like a nervous bird, her breath catching. She had thought she had cast him from her life forever, yet here he was... She squeezed her eyes closed, it was too much to figure out all at once.

Figured we'd just start and wing it xD

Relic paused as he shuffled in place. He was still taking in the magnificent grace of these lush lands that he currently found himself in. However there was another reason that he had left his daughters' sides this evening. There was a particular sort of bafflement over the entire hierarchy of this place. He had met with the stallion that was Jessamine's father. He had been welcomed with a little bit of mistrust from Vincento. In perspective though had there not been any mistrust Relic might have been worried.
For now though Relic was content with just mingling on the outskirts of this territory. He wasn't sure if he was truly welcomed yet. The bonus of having found this land was that now Sangria and Jezabelle had a place that they could just be themselves. There was also the added bonus of reconnecting with Jessamine. There was still something between them. There had to be.
He had wandered away in order to seek out the mare that had captured his heart and not let it go. The near-full moon lit his path as he paused to take in the scents on the air around him. A faint trace of the coppery scent of blood had Relic turning around almost in a complete circle before trotting in the direction the smell was coming from. He knew who he would find at the source. The stallion crested the hillock and nearly skewered his hoof on Jessamine's weapon. Now he knew that she was nearby. Gently he picked up her weapon and began to the descent down the hill to were Jessamine lay. He spoke carefully around the hilt of the blade that he carried before placing it gently down at Jess's side.
"Pardon me, but am I intruding?"

Jessamine's eyes squeezed shut as his voice caressed her ears, the object of her musings come to life, seemingly summoned by her chaotic thoughts. Her eyes flicked towards him and a low territorial growl escaped her lips as he returned the cleaver to her, but it was halfhearted, they had had this issue out the day they met and while her eyes still narrowed that he dare touch her most personal of possessions, she would not make him bleed for for the privilege... Today.
She turned to face him, her legs unfolding as she gracefully rose to her feet. Standing, she still had to look up to meet his eyes but she was no longer at a disadvantage. She felt a curious internal battle raging within her body, even as she flinched away from him, she was tempted by his nearness, he was close enough that all she needed to do would be to lift her head ever so slightly and catch his lips... with her teeth. Her crimson eyes flashed with a dangerous heat as she gazed up at him through lowered lashes.
"Yes," she replied simply, turning away from their breathless nearness to walk away a few feet, she picked up her blade as she went, cleaning it efficiently against the grass with a few efficient swipes of her head and then deposited it on a flat topped rock that seemed to have been made for this task. That done, she faced him once more, "But you may stay. Were you looking for me?" she tilted her head questioningly, she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

As soon as his lips had touched Jessamine's weapon Relic knew that there was a chance that his seeking of Jessamine could lead to an confrontation. He had been mentally bolstering himself for the mare's wrath before he had seen her lying on the ground. Her ethereal beauty still captivated him it seemed, even at this crucial moment in time. The stallion took in Jessamine's narrowed gaze and sought a better purchase on the hill lest she choose to attack him. His gaze held firm on her as she rose from her supine position. Although holding himself tense as if expecting the attack Relic found himself relaxing his muscles as Jessamine showed no move to confront him further.
Instead he was puzzled as Jessamine seemed to flinch away at their nearness to each other. He remained silent by default before realizing that the mare was once again peering up at him again. Relic felt and fought with the attraction that he felt for this mare before hearing her reply to his earlier query.
Who knew that such a simple reply could hurt so much. Relic cast his hurt aside for the moment as Jessamine walked away from him preoccupied with the cleaning of her blade. As the metal struck the rock Relic felt himself move a few paces closer to the mare a demand on his lips to have her explain before catching her next words. Relic's ears flicked back before he observed Jessamine more closely. Hearing that he could stay, at least for the moment, was a weight off his chest. At Jessamine's next question Relic nodded slowly.
"I was looking for you," and feeling that he had to elaborate Relic added softly, "I've been looking for you longer than you know."

Jessamine squeezed her eyes shut for a moment, trying to center herself as she dealt with the suffocating rush of emotions. She felt battered and bruised by life, not quite broken but certainly reaching that point. She had been rejected and abandoned by everyone she had ever cared about, save Relic. She had fled from him on her own, fearing his rejection she had spurned him instead. She was afraid of seeing the pain she had pt in his eyes, couldn't she do anything besides hurt the people she loved?
What would it be like to have a real family? She finally understood the most basic cause of her cravings, although their intensity and viciousness was likely more of a personal quirk than a family legacy, her father and sister certainly seemed in control of themselves. But they accepted her, cared for her, it was a balm for her sore heart. Now Jezabelle was back, the daughter who had fled from her not once, but twice. Perhaps she had been a smidge overprotective. Bartering for herbs to keep her asleep had been a last ditch effort to keep Belle safe in her care, it had backfired, driving her completely out of Jessamine's life forever, or so she thought.
Then there was Sangria, even as she had been overcome by the emotions of their reunion, her crimson eyes had hungrily taken in the visage of her second oldest daughter. She was beautiful, imposing, sure of herself, Jessamine longed to simply pick up where they should never have left off, to pretend that nothing had ever happened, but she knew she had no right. She had kept herself out of Sangria's life intentionally, look at the damage she had done to the one child she had kept, it was for the best. She could not guarantee anyone's safety when they were in her presence, not even her own children. The girls wanted their brother, and she was too afraid to ask if they wanted their mother too or if the mother was simply a means to an end. She didn't know if she could take the answer.
Despite her chaotic thoughts his words reached into that whirlpool and stilled her for a moment, her eyes met his and the heat that suffused her when their eyes met again gave rise to another kind of hunger. There was no fear in his gaze, he knew she was quite capable of lashing out but he seemed to calmly accept that fact, rather than flinching away from it. That more than anything soothed the rough edges of her temper. She'd forgotten he had that effect on her.
"Why?" she exhaled softly, "After everything that has happened, everything that I have done to you. To them, why would and of you ever want to see me again?"

There was a lengthy pause after Jessamine finished speaking in which Relic mentally began to compose a reply that would be grandiose and all encompassing before realizing that it would be that sort of foolishness that could sour this latest encounter. Instead Relic sighed softly. He had no right to answer for Sangria and Jezabelle. Their daughters would not want him to presume that much. His voice was soft as unbidden, words flowed from his mind to his mouth and into the air.
"I cannot speak for our daughters only for myself. I find an inescapable truth in just being able to speak frankly and thus I do. You ask why it is that I was looking for you: it is because I cannot seem to get you out of my mind. There has never been an individual that I have been drawn to stay near."
Here the stallion paused before gently stretching out his neck to touch his muzzle to Jessamine's crest. The touch was meant to soothe Jessamine's frayed nerves as he continued to speak, "Knowing that you were out there was hard for me. I spent a lot of time believing that I hated you for your hasty decision but I came to accept, if not fully comprehending, why you did what you believed needed to be done."

Jessamine watched Relic warily as he organized his thoughts, fearing the next thing that would pass his lips would injure her heart beyond mending. She thought she had hardened herself against this, had saved herself from feeling this vulnerable ever again, her mouth twisted wryly, you could run but you couldn't hide. Wasn't that what they'd always said? These things always caught up to you in the end, early on, she had learned that love and pain went together hand in hand. But wasn't it more meaningful, to go into a relationship with someone when you knew what you were risking, and to risk it anyways? She had been so young during her tryst with Devicius, so naive. Jessamine had mistaken the headiness of lust and mutual attraction for love. Hadn't she built their sham of a relationship on a foundation of lies and half truths? No wonder it had crumbled at its' first real test, but it had hurt, the rejection. She had thought she loved him, but looking back, Jessamine realized now that she hadn't really. She'd had no idea what love was, and had allowed their empty mimicry of love to scare her away from the real thing. She had broken something good, her. Jessamine, had shattered her potential for happiness, she would not cast the blame away anymore, the guilt, the shame. It made her squirm to look into his familiar eyes and see her own pain reflected there.
Was she brave enough to risk it all, again? This time for real? Would he even give her that chance?
She had a long way to go to regain the trust she had broken, but she thought she wanted to try. Jessamine owed her children, Relic, and herself that chance. Her eyes swam at Relic's touch, with a sharp intake of breath, she stepped closer into his embrace, trembling as she pressed her face against him and wetting his neck with her tears. She didn't know what the future held for them, but in this moment, she simply relished his nearness.
"You asked me once before if I knew why I am the way I am. I do now, after talking with my father, and with Evangeline. Now I understand myself, and although it eases my mind in some ways, it has not changed me. I am still a threat to them, to you, at times. Regardless of how I feel now, if I'm around you when the bloodlust takes me, I could hurt someone, have hurt people. I couldn't live with it if I hurt them, that's why I left them. And I didn't want to force your hand against me when they were young, didn't want them to see me come for them with death in my eyes. That Belle survived me as a mother is a miracle, Cleaver protected her from me, for me, but there were close calls... When I first felt them move within me, when I knew for certain, I panicked, because I was afraid you would ask me to be their mother, and I thought I knew that I couldn't... I wish I could go back, give us another chance, but I can't take back what I've already done, Relic, as much as I would like to."
Her voice trailed off into a broken whisper. "I don't know how to fix this."

Relic could feel the trickling wetness of Jessamine's tears soaking into his skin. It was a surreal experience to have this particular mare crying into his side. The stallion had not meant for this reaction to be brought forth but it was possibly for the best. Relic let his eyes close as he inhaled Jessamine's scent. There were moments that one could wish to be frozen in time and for Relic this was such a moment. He gave a soft sigh as he lipped at Jessamine's mane before realizing that she was speaking softly. He had missed a small portion of the words being trapped in the moment. Letting his attention return to the present Relic listened intently. Hearing her bring up the question he had asked during their first encounter brought a small thrill within his mind. However this wasn't the time to make a smart reply to that.
Instead Relic let Jessamine finish talking. Lately Relic had learned that remaining silent while another was speaking was more productive than interrupting or piping up just after. It gave one time to think instead of blurting out a reply. There was remorse in her words and that alone had him merely closing his eyes. How could one reply to such a statement? Relic opened his eyes and looked down at Jessamine at her broken-sounded whisper before feeling his heart ache. Sensing that it was now his turn to speak the stallion merely let the silence fill the space between them. He once again lipped at Jessamine's mane before lightly nudging her side.
"Hearing what you were feeling and what you were afraid would happen now eases my frustration from when you left. I understand your concerns and I'd be foolish to ignore them. You speak of not knowing how to fix things but I believe that might be untrue. Deep down inside there must be something yearning to be set free. However that does not change the fact that I care deeply for you Jessamine. One might go as far to say that I truly love you, faults and all."
Here Relic paused as he let his words sink in. The fact that he had come to this place to find Jessamine spoke of a deeper connection that he wished to rekindle. He stepped back from Jessamine so that he could look into her eyes if she deigned to glance upwards. She would see the truth of what he said.

Jessamine let his words wash over her like cool water. She blinked a few times, hardly daring to believe his words, she trembled, frightened of the strength of the emotions that gripped her. For a moment, she teetered on the edge of bolting off into the forest. She could escape into the trees, leave her family and Relic behind, live on her own again with Cleaver. It had been simpler that way, less risky, but in her heart she knew that she had outgrown that kind of life. She took a deep, steadying breath and met Relic's gaze with her own.
"I love you too, Relic." Her voice was a low and husky whisper, it trembled and nearly broke on the forbidden words, but they resonated with what she felt inside. She spoke from her heart. Surely admitting what was already there could do her no more harm, her mistake had been in allowing herself to love him in the first place, the damage was done. To love was to be vulnerable. She lowered her eyelashes artfully and gazed down at where a bunch of colored feathers had once been tied near her hooves, but if he betrayed her... If he destroyed her like he had... Her crimson eyes glowed softly in the darkness, a bittersweet smile twisted her lips. If, then she would water the ground with his blood.
Shaking herself, Jessamine took a step back, swallowing a slightly hysterical giggle as her heart twisted painfully. That was why she wanted to bolt, she was both mare and predator, if he vexed her she might kill him. She might kill any of them, before she could regain her senses. Even now, when her belly still bulged slightly from her recent kill, she danced on the knife's edge of control. She didn't want to hurt those she loved most, didn't want to hurt Relic, even if their romance ended in pain, she wouldn't hurt him. She fought to keep her expression neutral as she met his gaze again, had he seen it? Would he think better, would he run? Unbidden, her hackles rose and felt something dreadful uncoiling within her, let him run. It seemed to whisper into the cavern of her mind, her eyes were glassy as she stared over Relic's shoulder into space. He would't get far. Her mouth watered.
Jessamine tried to ignore the whispers, she wanted to simply live in this moment, but terror of her vulnerable heart had awakened a predatory defensiveness. She needed to get it under control, needed a distraction, she only hoped Relic wouldn't try to walk away, if he did, she would be on him before he could take more than a few steps.
How could he love her when this was inside her? How could she make it go away again?

The confirmation of words that came from Jessamine had Relic breathing deeply in contentment. Although listening to the words Relic could feel Jessamine's trembles before she spoke the sought after phrase. His mind quieted for a moment before he felt Jessamine escape the gentle embrace that they had shared. Sighing with just a hint of something that could have been called frustration at the movement Relic paused as something else fought to escape from Jessamine. It seemed like laughter?
When Jessamine brought her gaze back to his own there was something in Jess's expression that spoke of her seemingly inherit out-of-control predatory nature. Relic recognized it as soon as he saw it but he remained still for a minute. Slowly he commanded himself to move forward to once again close the gap between himself and the mare. He knew that to run would be the worst move to make ever and thought better of it. He gentled his movements to move closer and instead spoke a simple phrase near Jessamine's ear. He wasn't sure if it would register in the mare's mind but he hoped that it would.
"Faults and all."
If this wasn't Jessamine's greatest fault then Relic was at a loss, but somewhere deep inside he understood the risks in pursuing this decision. He craved Jessamine's company.

That surprise meeting had taken a few nights ago. Relic had taken the time to merely observe Jessamine in silence since. The stallion was formulating a plan in his mind and it was because he was unsure if Jessamine would approve that he kept silent on the issue. He had however taken one of his precious scalpels and a length of one of Jessamine's ribbons and tucked them away in his satchel. He glanced towards the sky with questing eyes before his eyes lit upon an unusual brightness in darkness above. It almost seemed as if the timing could not have been more clear.
There had been chatter from his grandson on the mysterious powers of this bright star that shone over the land of the Kawani. Relic was of course skeptical but thought to give it a try. It was strange that a star would have the power to grant wishes but who was he to judge. Setting off in the dark of the night Relic traveled swiftly but silently to the location that was spoken of with such fervor from others.
Upon reaching the altar at the crest of the hill though Relic frowned at the cornucopia of other offerings left behind before shaking his head. Almost reverently he scraped away a clear spot and dropped the ribbon covered scalpel. His gaze shot upwards. "Who am I to say that you really work. All I know that is that this time around I want to be able to raise our children together. I want Jessamine to learn that it is alright to be herself. Her beauty and madness ensnared me from the beginning. Our family grows so I could not be prouder of our children but I crave more and I know, deep in my heart, that Jessamine would be surprised, but happy, with more children."
Relic lowered his head for a moment and whispered the last part of his wish lest anyone be in hearing distance, "Grant my request and allow me to show Jessamine what it is like to raise a family."
With that done Relic closed his eyes briefly before turning around to head back in the direction that he had come from. He was unsure how Jessamine would react to this if she found out so for the moment he would keep this wish to just between him and the star.

Once again, Jessamine was relaxing in that same small clearing, her form draped elegantly at the edge of the stream, basking in the moonlight that filtered between the branches that managed to stretch overhead to form a sort of loosely woven roof. It was not much protection against the elements but it was cozy and Jessamine had decided that this was to be her place in her family's lands. No one came here apart from those looking for her so she was sure it was unclaimed and she felt at peace here. A small part of her mind missed the huge tree whose roots had sheltered her while Jezabelle was growing, that was one of the happiest times of her life to look back on, although at the time she had been in such emotional turmoil from missing Relic, feeling guilty about abandoning her other baskets, and worry that she would harm Belle that she hadn't really been emotionally present for her daughter. She felt sorrow for what she had put her through in an attempt to protect her. Looking back, purchasing herbs to keep her safely asleep at home the first time she'd run away from home had been rather... Extreme. She knew that now, and saw the wariness in Belle's eyes just below the surface whenever Jessamine was around. They would have to confront that sometime soon but it was so... So awkward to bring up past injustices, couldn't they just move on and pretend it had never happened? She would never do that now, as far as Jessamine was concerned, that had been a different person. She knew she owed Belle an apology though, Jezabelle would feel much more comfortable allowing Jessamine around her own children when they had smoothed the rift between them.
(Ok a lot of this is in here as filler to establish a timeline for all our previous rps and the age of Coquette and Cosette in relation to the rest of the family. Not sure how you want their age to match up with Zacharael's children so I didn't include that but they are for sure younger than Zach and Ananel, Claudette and Saxon so I added that. Gah, its so weird having all these generations mixed together in ages x'D. I think this second part should take place quite some time after the first part to allow for Belle to get pregnant and Claudette and Saxon to grow up and leave home because looking back at our rps of that time, it would be placed right in the middle of this rp. Belle wouldn't have known she was pregnant at the beginning and if we have these two born after they are grown up I think we are all caught up with essential back plotting and can mostly move foreword-- Except for what we want to do of course n_n, but either way sorry about the post length, most of it is just to organize my mind with her reminiscing rather than contributing anything to their current encounter!)
That was another thing, she was a grandmother. She winced at the hated word and convulsively glanced over to the reflective surface of the water beside her, tilting her head this way and that, her eyes narrowed in scrutiny. She certainly didn't look old enough to be a grandmother. She wasn't close with her grandchildren, she could tell Jezabelle preferred she stayed away, she knew her daughter loved her and wanted to feel safe with her but old memories and hurts died hard. It would take time and work, they hadn't been reunited long enough to build enough new memories to overshadow the old. Jezabelle had found out she was pregnant not long after their reunion. After talking with Relic, Jessamine had finally given into her small family's demands and revealed that their lost brother had been adopted by a stallion named Karloff. She also revealed that they had two older half siblings that had been adopted by an Angeni stallion named Ignis not long before she had met their father. Vincento had been there, to explain about the history of their family, Jessamine's attack and presumed death by a rival herd headed by Vincento's own father, instead she had lost all of her memories and wandered off, to start her own life. Jessamine had always been hard to handle, even before her brains had been scrambled she had been much more vicious and sporadically violent than her siblings, but the attack had made it worse. Forgetting her Kalona heritage, she had believed she was a full blooded regular mare, as she appeared to be but beneath the surface her kalona heritage had been strong, thinking she was a monster had driven her over the edge. She would never be entirely whole but at least she knew her own story, and at least her children now knew it too.
Jezabelle had told her she was lifemated, then she and Sangria had left to give their father and mother time to get reacquainted. When they returned, Belle had given birth to three foals but had been able to keep only two, shattered by her broken lifemating to Laertes, who had taken her other daughter with him, she had thrown herself into parenting the two remaining foals. Jessamine had watched their daughter's heartbreak from afar, leaving her to be comforted by Relic and Sangria, not wanting to increase Belle's distress with her own presence. She had seen Claudette and Saxon a couple times, briefly, when she couldn't help but sneak over to satisfy her curiosity and she loved them from afar, but Belle had raised them on the family's lands but away from her immediate family, Needing some distance while she healed. Jessamine had never met Sangria's children either, although their names were written on her heart, Zacharael and Ananel. Both of Sangria's sons had been grown before the family's reunion. Now Claudette and Saxon were also grown and off in the world and hadn't returned for some time. Jezabelle had wandered off for who knew what purpose, Sangria was about she was sure although she hadn't seen her for a few days.
Jessamine sighed, pulling herself out of her reverie. She had come out here to relax, not to mull over the past and worry. She didn't want to get wrinkles after all. A quick glance back to the water reassured herself that she still truly did not look old enough to be a grandmother. The mare stretched and wondered what Relic was up to, her eyes heated at the thought of him and a warmth spread though her limbs. He had been acting oddly lately, perhaps she should track him down and find out what had been on his mind. Her ears flicked, had she heard the crunch of leaves? In an eyeblink her teeth were fitted into the handle of her cleaver and her sharp gaze was piercing the foliage where she had thought she heard movement.
"Whose there?" she demanded, her voice muffled.

If anyone were to see Relic at the moment they would have probably wondered why he was standing still; staring at the ground with his eyes wide with shock. A few feet away from him nestled amongst the grass lay two baskets that hadn't been there before. The stallion gave each wicker container a careful inspection. It seemed as if the baskets were not empty. The shock that Relic was feeling was slowly turning to awe. Were these baskets the result of his wish on that star a few nights ago? This was something he had not actually comprehended; the thought that his wish would have been granted and something would have come of it. Relic's gaze tore away from the two perfect gifts as Valium scurried away from the area. The stallion sighed before his gaze scanned the area around him. He had played out of sight for the last few days with Jessamine and even now his instincts were clamoring at him to hide these baskets just until he had time to ease the idea of parenting past Jessamine again.
Having his wish granted though would mean that he would talk to Jessamine and rather soon. The stallion gripped the handle of the first basket and smiled softly at the sight of the colors that adorned it. There was no doubt in his mind that these belonged to him and Jessamine, no doubt at all.
Relic had managed to move both baskets closer to the area that he had come to associate with Jessamine. It would only be right to leave them close nearby after he went looking for the mare. Although he was unsure on how he was going to break the news he was interrupted in his musings by the sound of Jessamine's questioning voice. He nearly dropped the second basket in shock before gently nosing the baskets under some low hanging branches of a nearby willow tree. It would have to serve as camouflage for the time being. He didn't want to stray to far but having Jessamine confront him out here was not going to end well.
Pushing himself to stand straighter Relic moved through the foliage that separated him from the object of his musings before catching sight of the mare with her cleaver clenched between her teeth. "There is no need to bloody your weapon Jessamine. It is only me."

In a sense Cosette and Coquette would still be a little younger than Julian, Arcadia and Morrigan. Not by much mind you but similar. And it is confusing having generations mixed together for sure.

Jessamine relaxed, and let her Cleaver drop point first, it sunk like butter into the loamy ground. She would not need to defend herself against her lover. Still, Jessamine's full mouth twisted in a discomfited grimace, her relationship with Relic had grown much closer and involved into something deeper than mutual attraction... But Relic had begun to act strangely recently. He had earned a modicum of trust from her, but old habits and fears died hard and she found herself worrying if dissatisfaction with her was the reason for his odd behavior. She took a deep breath, she was learning to control these thoughts and to act beyond them but she wished they would go away all together. Her lip quavered.
Shaking away such melancholy thoughts, Jessamine stepped forward smoothly into Relic's embrace, her head tipping up to nudge his affectionately. "Hello Relic," she chimed softly, enjoying the soft buzzing warmth that always flooded her veins at his nearness.
She pulled back a bit to gaze into his eyes, eyes the bright color of fresh blood. Her mouth watered a bit, she needed to hunt soon. "You have such a strange expression on your face," she exclaimed, "Is everything alright?" Her brows drew together in consternation as she peered at him expectantly. Her heart thudded within her breast, he was so tense he seemed about to snap. Instinctively, her predatory side rose to the surface, was there danger? Her eyes dilated, her lips curled back from her sharp canines, she would rip any threat to pieces and sate her hunger with its' flesh.

At Jessamine's touch Relic felt the world melt away. The stallion considered himself to be the luckiest individual ever. He had met this beauteous creature in the woods and felt drawn to her almost immediately. That had been such a long time ago but the spark that drew them together was still present. It was what had driven him to make his wish on that star. However he was unsure as to how Jessamine would react when she found out. Knowing though that if he kept the secret longer and she found out on her own it could ruin everything.
Sighing deeply Relic gently closed his eyes before they opened again. His own expression changed to one of worry as he caught the sight of Jessamine's body tensing. As light as a feather Relic touched his muzzle to Jessamine's flank. He had to get this off his chest and fairly soon. His voice came out softer than normal. "You need not to stress yourself Jessamine. I am alright. However there is something I must tell you."
Relic paused choosing his words carefully. This next part would determine the fate of the baskets that lay hidden just beyond. With a small clearing of his throat Relic launched into his tale.
"I know that I have been acting differently as of late. I heard a rumor from our grandson and I wanted to see if it were true. I do not know if you have heard of the star that shines brightly over the lands from time to time. Apparently there is an altar that one can go to and leave a gift. At that time you can make a wish on this star and some have found their wishes granted. It has worked for Zacharael and his mate twice now ... so I thought I would try it out."
Relic fell silent, he wondered if Jessamine was putting the pieces together. His gaze swung to the draping willow branches nearby as he felt himself drawn towards the two helpless creatures inside. He knew that the star had blessed him with a second chance at parenting but would Jessamine want to take that same plunge with him this time?
