She knew something was off. Terribly off and it was the kind of feeling to make her feel sick, a knot in her gut that only coiled tighter and tighter with each and every breath she took. The sleek-coated oriental curled up beneath the covers in bed, pressing her eyes shut amongst the burning of tears. She knew what was wrong...she was just so damn scared it would happen again. Scared that everything she'd worked on building these past few years, they would crumble to dust in her hands and she'd be left alone and hollowed out once again. Shiver drifted to sleep, but it was fitful. The moment she passed out, the nightmares were upon her again--blood bright against the snow, vivid crimson against pearl white, and the pain... Pain ripped through her, her sobs shaking her entire body into submission as she lay in the snow, fisting the coldness though her hands were numb. In her dream she was falling to pieces. She woke with a scream, cupping both hands over her mouth to muffle the sounds, tears flowing freely now. Panic soared through her, sizzling along her nerves and she scrambled out of bed, almost falling on her face. "No..." she whispered in vain, stumbling to the bathroom just in time to lean over the toilet, her stomach violently churning. Her hands were cold against the porcelain as she prayed to Bast that this was just a terrible nightmare...a hangover... Except she hadn't partied in weeks. She slumped on the tile floor, arms cradling herself as she sobbed, mourned their losses all over again.

The door closed behind him, and he shrugged off his favorite silver jacket. The show had been great tonight, and he was thrilled at the exposure he and Romance were getting. He stretched out his arms, then leaned over to take off the black boots. He didn't want to wake Shiver, she didn't sleep well as is. But as soon as the last boot clunked to the ground, screams began echoing through the home. All he could think of was Shiver.. She was in trouble. "Shiver?" He called out, taking off into the direction of the room. He didn't knock on the wooden door, there was no reason to. But when he got to the bed, it was empty. Blankets were strown across the floor, and led his eyes towards the bathroom. The light was on, and he could see a shadow just past the door. "Shiver, hey.." He said, before peeking into the door. She was curled in a fetal position, tears flowing over her cheeks. His brows furrowed, and he lowered himself to hold her. "What's wrong, Shiver? Are you hurt?" Looking her over yielded no wounds or obvious injuries.. He wasn't sure what had happened, but it broke his heart to see her so scared. Pulling her to his chest, he wrapped his arms around her.

Shiver's ears alerted her of Fever before he ever reached her. She uncurled slowly from herself, from her pain, and reached for him even as he reached for her, allowing her slender form to be wrapped up in the heaven of his arms. She loved him. She'd loved him since she first laid eyes on him, no matter what he decided to do in his freetime. Or who he did. It should've bothered her, sharing him with anyone else, but it was the way their relationship had always been. Open, caring, inviting. And now she was going to destroy it. Her fingers curled in his shirt as she clung to him and cried, unable to catch her breath.
"I-I'm okay. It was...another nightmare," she said softly, one hand slipping between them to cup her flat belly. She swallowed and pulled away gently, pulling him down to sit beside her on the cool tile floor. "I just. Need to breathe." Her words were slowly spoken, fear climbing up her throat. She needed to tell him; despite their open relationship, she saw no one else. She slept with no one else. Loyalty was a b***h sometimes, but that was the way she worked.
"I think...something might be wrong with me," she said softly, sorrowfully.

Deep down, despite his own affinity for the masculine sex, he loved Shiver. Loved her in a way that if she hurt, it hurt him. If she was sad, it made him sad. They were connected on more of a level than just sex. Which was why he found himself with her, the only female he'd ever enjoyed the company, and the extra curriculars with. She knew she was special, which was why she tolerated his antics. Though no other female ever turned his head.. That part of him was saved for Shiver. She cried into his chest, and he clutched her to him, curling around her. She was never usually so sad, though he knew how bad the nightmares could get. She'd been plagued with them forever, it was part of how she'd ended up in his bed.. He hadn't had the heart to make her sleep alone.. and then he hadn't had the will power to keep from taking things further. "Then breathe, sweetheart." He said softly. "Just take a deep breath." His words were calming, a tone he used specifically for her. But her last sentence had his brow furrow deeper, and he frowned. "What do you mean something's wrong with you? Are you sick? Should I take you to a doctor?" He asked, looking her over. She didn't -look- sick... but he supposed sickness took many forms.
