Carrying the scythe through the dark stairs was doable, but the blade may abrade with the coarse rocks which he didn't want to see. So he turned Catherine back into totem, some sort of piercing accessory he guessed. He wasn't hurry to wear that as she insisted that it should be done in a sacred manner - a vow of blood, as she stated.

The next day, the tall Sun appeared at the training fields early in the morning, yawning to the passer-by, hoping to catch a Captain. Catherine was summoned and hung on his lean physique, he was apparently not a morning bird. He had a lot to ask his mentor.

Like a lost puppy without collar, he stood there, eyes flickering left and right. It was the day many people wanted to spar, the tall build made him protruding from the crowd like a colorful stick.

Hearing the familiar voice, the man raised his hand to deliver a smile. "Not really, Catherine's a pretty girl. I have a lot to ask you." The man looked completely normal, without make-up and his hands were free of nail polishes yet, his eyes shimmered in two neon colors - contact lenses. The true colors already hidden.

The scythe made a swoosh as he swung down his long arm like a pendulum.

"What can I offer for you to answer some basic questions?" Since he went to the field before getting to his room, he wasn't wear his trainee coat or have his phone.

The man stepped close.

"Informative manuals? Where?" The man gave an innocent puppy look, completely guiltless. "Deal." he rewarded her with a big grin. "I can ask during or after this?" Clarification required.

Catherine hummed divinely like a bird for forthcoming hors d'oeuvre while Ace beamed like a dog, for the rare concession Claude would make. "Main buildings, where I come out from?" Actually the informative material for newbies was located at the pod room, including a map and so on, but both of them missed it. Well, things would go smooth by themselves.

"It's the first time I am pointed by a gun." Voice a bit excited, "Ready~" A hand half covered by long sleeve raised up lazily with the small smile.

"What's wrong with my appearance?" He asked. Ace could totally block the bullet with the blade of Catherine, but she was too beautiful to deserve that, so he used his whole body to take that.

He coughed, one knelt hit the ground to brace himself. <Ace?> The haunt made her concern. I'm alright, just not prepared. It felt like severely punched on his lungs and he was depleted of oxygen. "Give me a few seconds", he waved a feeble hand and after he got use to it, "Do they all hurt that badly? I feel like opening a door to a new world." His eyebrows knitted together deeply, he didn't enjoy pains, it would be better to see others suffering.

"Ok, my turn" He rallied himself quickly as if nothing had happened. The Scythe slashed at Claude with a mild force. Even after the heavy pain, his chest felt nothing. "Wow, where do the pain disappear? It doesn't hurt anymore." The tall man touched his chest, puzzled but amazed.

<I'll protect you.>

"Coat? What coat?" The man blinked like a confused puppy, his hunter knowledge was a white paper awaited to be written with information at the moment. He watched as she dodged his attack and whistled, then smirked playfully. "That's somehow relieving, Captain."

He hopped with his tall legs, weakening the power of the shot with a slash. "Ah, are we at some magical world? What did they do to our bodies huh? Does it mean if your weapon spat with you and ignore you, you'll be doomed?" His hand gestured, like a knife cut across his throat and grimaced.

That's what you mean you'll protect me, Catherine dear, I get it now. A reassuring emotion gently emerged, as if he was soaked in a warm bath. <I love you.>

The contemplation took some times and his slash wasn't powerful enough to deliver any harm.

The sound of metal clanked was like those he heard from movies, Ace occasionally peeked at his scythe to make sure there wasn't big scrapes that would destroy Catherine's beauty. "B-Bermuda?!" He repeated in surprise, "where all the ships and planes mysteriously disappeared? I thought this was like institution for some special people like us, hmm, what the heck it's now related to conspiracy?"

He scoffed, mindlessly wielding the weapon in hand. "I hope they didn't microchip us? Captain, I'm scared." The idea sent him a chill. "By the way, what do you think my division would be and what's yours? How do they decide that?" The eyebrows knitted together, "I seemed to recall I was fighting somebody before I woke up and see your beautiful face....." He rubbed his chin, musing.

Questions after questions trampled on his mind, it was just a while since he got out of that pod and he already had to accept things dragged him away the normal world he had lived for more than ten years. He felt confused, excited for what destiny was awaited while anxious about the memories still not coming back -



- And he felt someone holding a spear and pierced him one after another, a constant mild pain shared by him and Catherine. The doll haunt made hurtful moans as if the threads linking and giving life to a puppet were abruptly wreck. Ace himself wasn't good either, the effective shots focus on his stomach brought up a nausea sensation, he coughed but nothing came out.

Still panting, he winked with an effort and replied playfully, "just being honest". He was not telling lies, on the island, who's appearance was below average. All got A, despite of their styles. He felt Catherine holding him tightly with a twinge of anger and distress, blaming herself.
