Murmuring Pines Psychic Summer Camp was, for the most part, still in slumber. The cabins were yet to be fully occupied, some campers arriving early while they were still waiting on others who had signed up. This morning in particular they awaited a unique arrival, previously announced and negotiated by Doolittle. Most of the staff wasn't needed for such matters, not at this hour, and so only a small congregation stood waiting before anyone else woke.
The circumstances of this particular young psychic were unusual and, in verifying matters, Instructor Faust repeated the main factor that contributed to this new camper's unprecedented situation:
"Wolves."
Yes, the mutt verified with a lift of his snout to adjust his glasses.
Such an unconventional case deserved its fair share of attention and care. At Counselor Monroe's behest, pending the vague description of the girl Doolittle offered thanks to his communique with the wolves in the area, a specialist was contacted from HQ and shipped out the previous night. Rana Merchant stood with the small group at the front of the main lodge.
Doolittle's tail gave a tentative wag. They should be here soon. He plodded ahead just a ways down the dirt path and sat as a beacon to the wolfish family that would no doubt be escorting her.
"Maybe I ought to get some food for them," Hugh pondered aloud, feet already taking him towards the lodge door.
"Don't suppose you have raw steaks back there, Kaspar said flatly.
Hugh gave a soft belly laugh. "Burgers, mostly."
"Mm."

The staff didn't need to wait long before the wolves appear behind some large rocks a little ways down the road. Leading in front was Papa Woof, a large, dark grey fearsome looking predator with piercing yellow eyes. A distinctive scar runs across his snout in a diagonal angle, a souvenir from a fierce battle for territory when he was much younger. He stood in the middle of the path for a moment, just staring at the group, as if judging them if they were trustworthy. He had not met Doolittle before this moment, as the meeting was set up by another wolf from his pack. With a soft growl he turned his head back the way he came, as if signalling something.
Then a peculiar little girl with dirty orange hair peeked out from behind the rock. Her large green eyes were set upon Kaspar as she gaped. It was the first time she had met someone that stood on two feet like her! So amazed that she forgot to move. Mama Woof, a nearly white wolf with a scatter of light grey on her back and face, had to nudge on her to join her Papa.
The rest of the entourage appeared one by one, as six wolves and one little girl walked calmly towards the camp staff. They appear to not be aggressive as they approached Doolittle, with the little girl almost hiding behind Papa Woof. She wore little, with only animal pelt wrapped around her body like some make shift dress. And dried leaves were poking out everywhere from her dry, frazzled orange hair. Her child-like eyes were still locked upon Kaspar, but instead of fear, it was filled with wonder.
You are Doolittle. Papa Woof locked eyes with the yellow mutt as he stood proudly before him. Lead the way.

At the wolves approach, Doolittle lowered his haunches politely. Over his small thin-rimmed glasses, the mutt's eyes lit. This little one was assuredly human, as they were informed, but she looked so well meshed with the wilderness. That mattered little, though. As well integrated as she may have been, and however well the wolves cared for her, the pack made the right decision: she didn't belong.
Their pack leader was an imposing figure and Doolittle dipped his head with a healthy amount of respect. Thank you for coming. Right this way.
At the entrance of the building, the human members of staff shifted their weight. Hugh was still inside, leaving Miss Merchant and Instructor Faust at the front -- he took a few steps closer upon Doolittle's approach. He and the small girl exchanged glances, though his blue eyed gaze didn't waver and his expression remained neutral. Counselor Monroe returned from inside just as the Animal Telepathy Instructor settled his rump upon the dirt path in front of the stairs. In his hands were unfortunately only a small assortment of spare rib bones but they had been cleaned and were more than ready for chewing if the wolves would accept them.
These are Mr. Faust, Mr. Monroe, and Ms. Merchant, Doolittle pointed his snout at each of the faculty individually, Mr. Monroe and I will be helping you all communicate, Mr. Faust will be handling the official business and paperwork, while Ms. Merchant is our expert in assisting human children in situations like this. They're all very familiar with what the little one is going through. After the introduction, the three of them gave a cursory greeting to the wolves all their own (with Hugh's encouragement).
A pleasure to meet you all, Hugh offered telepathically to the group with a bright smile.
With another polite dip of his head to Papa Woof, Doolittle raised his ears to attention. Would you please tell us what has happened?

The group of wolves looked surprised and made soft whimpering sounds at each other when Hugh greeted them. They could understand the human! However, this did not phase Papa or Mama Woof. The large wolf stared at the man whom Doolittle introduced as Mr Faust for the longest time, seemingly trying to determine if he was to be trusted. But finally breaking eye contact, he gave a glance towards the other humans before turning around and signaled Toffee to do something.
Getting the signal, Toffee smiled widely as she grabbed the nearest wolf to her that wasn't Papa or Mama. She knew better than to zap them, the unfortunate victim is one of her younger brothers. Just as soon as her hands made contact with the wolf in her bodily hug, the fur of the wolf puffed up as a result of the static electricity emitting from her touch. The poor thing whimpered in protest as he tried to move away from her, he looked like a ridiculous giant fluff ball, kind of comical even. This will last a while before his fur return back to normal.
Finally letting go, Toffee turned to look back at the group of humans. She held up one hand and formed a letter C with her fingers, and a spark of electricity was seen for just a split second, travelling from the thumb to the index finger. She seemed pretty excited to show off her powers.
Sometimes she could throw lightning bolts from her hands. Although not always. Papa turned back to Doolittle as he spoke. It is freaking out the rest of the pack.
