She was a streak of orange, black, and white among a bright world of neon colors as Anemanie played within the confines of the reef. Zooming between rocks and around schools of fish. Sunlight filtered down through clear blue water dancing off her skin.
Ane was a cheerful mare without a car in the world and it showed. Laughing and giggling she raced around and around inviting the fish to swim with her.
The young mare's laughter drifted along the current perking up most of the sea life that herd it, and soon she had a small school swimming with her. The fish covered a wide range, and came in all colors and sizes. The school and the mer played vigorously, darting this way and that as they circled the reefs. This was the only life Anemanie had ever known, laughter, joy, and play it had shaped her into a carefree mare that spent most of her life without a touch of sorrow.
As they swam, circling the reefs and slowly drifting out making their route wider each pass, something caught her eye. A flash of brilliant white against the deep blue of the ocean made the mare halt suddenly, ebony mane waving like angry waves in a storm around her head for a moment before they calmed and drifted with the currents once more. Her fishy friends decided the game was done and darted away back toward the reefs.
She stayed there, only the occasional wave of her tail, breaking her motionless form. Anemanie watched the stallion, starring out into the distance, ears swiveling .. completely unsure of what her next action should be.
