"Aha!"
The newly christened Sailor Chibi Urda grinned rather evilly -- though how evil a 9-year-old could really look was a questionable thing -- at the "creature" just several feet ahead. In his mind he pictured a glowing nightmare-hare, something he'd read a couple of weeks back and (though he'd never admit it) had nightmares about until his recent awakening where he gained superpowers.
Of a sort.
But powers!
In reality all that sat in the distance was a piece of trash with the shiny part of its tin foil covering out and causing the light to bounce off of it and give off that annoyingly bright glare. Of course, children and their imaginations.
"No sense in running off, creature-from-the-great-beyond! I will vanquish you!"
With a laugh and that playful smirk of his, Urda copied the last thing he saw on TV -- Son Goku and his signature kamehameha wave stance -- and made a break for the "creature," yelling and all. He didn't realize he might actually have called attention to things or people nearby. Didn't realize that he might have been putting himself in danger. No, all that really mattered to him right then and there was that he had superpowers, and that he could probably kick its butt.
Probably.Sunshine Alouette I figure it really is just a piece of trash that isn't a youma, but do with it what you please. |D;

Luckily for Sailor Chibi Urda, his antics did not gain the attention of a more nefarious sort. Rather, another Chibi Senshi could be seen wandering around that evening. Sailor Chibi Perdita, half a decade older (and, in her opinion, lifetimes more mature), rounded the corner and caught sight of the younger Chibi she'd been sensing. He stood only a few yards away, shouting unnecessarily loud and falling into ridiculous looking poses Perdita doubted would serve him well in an actual fight.
Not that she had much experience when it came to fighting, but she knew it certainly wasn't like make-believe.
“You do know it's just a piece of trash, right?” she announced her presence, propping her hands onto her hips and looking the little boy over.
She thought whoever awoke this kid must not have been thinking clearly. While she was fourteen and (in her opinion) entirely capable of taking care of herself and holding her own when it counted, this kid couldn't have even hit the double-digits yet. A fourth-grader, if he was lucky.
Did the Guardian Cats really awaken kids so young?
“You could sense it if it was really a youma,” she lectured him. “Didn't anyone tell you that?”

The chibi senshi blinked once when he first heard the voice, his eyes still trained on his target, kamehameha wave still at the ready. When it finally registered that it wasn't the "piece of trash" that was talking to him, he blinked again and turned his head, brows then furrowed at face in a pout-like expression. Now who would go and kill someone's fun like that?
A girl, that's who.
Straightening himself out, Urda heaved a sigh and looked her over, noting that she was taller and most likely older than her, then he stomped toward her. "I know, he said right back in a huffy tone as he came to a stop, arms crossed. "I was using my imagination, though."
He was outright frowning then, not at all enjoying the fact that someone just had to go and burst his little bubble for the evening, but her last words did catch his interest even if he was a bit irate. "I know that, too! Just..." another pause, and he looked down. The boy wasn't used to lying, and really he had no reason to. Other than killing his fun she didn't seem like she was out to get him....
"It's fun to think that I have super powers, like on TV or in books, so I was...just having some fun. Haven't you ever wanted to have powers and stuff like your favorite super hero?"

“I don't have a favorite superhero,” Perdita said.
Superheros were for children, and she was no longer a child. Of course, even when she had been younger, she'd not had much interest in heroes and crime fighters beyond Hermione Granger and Nancy Drew, one of whom had powers and one of whom did not.
She couldn't say she'd ever wanted magical powers of her own the way this boy seemed to enjoy his, but she had to admit they came in handy in Destiny City.
Still, this boy was going to get himself hurt if he continued on like this.
“This isn't make-believe,” she told him. “You need to be carful. Someone could sense you and come after you. And then what would you do? Your imagination won't save you then.”
She sounded as if she knew what she was talking about. In a way she did. She'd had an encounter with a Lieutenant already, and he certainly hadn't been one to pull his punches when dealing with someone younger than himself. She expected the more powerful ones would only be worse.

Her answer was blunt enough to have him hanging his head even more, slightly out of embarrassment and slightly because he knew she was right and no matter what argument he might come up with he'd still be...well, wrong. He mumbled something about knowing that all this wasn't make-believe and shuffled his feet, kicking up some gunk in the process. He made a face as it flew a few inches away and landed with a sick pop. "You should have a favorite superhero..." he said with a set frown, thinking it'd make her feel just as bad as he felt then. He hated being wrong...
Urda thought a bit about what she said, realizing that there were some parts that he didn't fully understand. He'd yet to meet anyone who wanted to hurt him, and so far this "sensing" business hadn't been working for him at all. Or maybe he just hadn't been using it right...it hadn't been too long since he became a senshi so maybe that's why? Slowly his embarrassment about being scolded was replaced by curiosity, and he finally looked up at her.
"But I've only ever met nice senshi, and besides who would wanna hurt a kid in the first place? Aren't adults supposed to be good to us?" It was something he truly believed, perhaps because for the most part adults treated him normally. They were never intentionally mean for the most part, and occasionally some were very, very nice.

Perdita removed her hands from her hips and lifted her arms to fold them over her chest, eyeing the younger boy the way an adult might eye a disobedient child. She made no further comment about the superhero business, despite the boy's insistence that she should have a favorite. He was just a kid, she told herself. He didn't know any better.
Still, if he intended to continue being a Senshi, he was going to have to grow up fast, or he was going to be in very real danger. For a moment, she questioned why any Guardian Cat would have awoken him. He was so young, and he obviously didn't understand the business of the war. Wasn't he just going to be a liability?
“The Negaverse would want to hurt a kid,” she told him. “Don't you know what the Negaverse is? They're the ones who send out the youma that hurt people. Anyway, not all adults are kind. Some of them are mean and dangerous. You have to be careful. You can sense the ones that might hurt you. Their power feels dark and gross, like how youma feel, only worse.”

He hated being wrong, but he wasn't an indignant child. At least not all the time. With a sigh and downcast eyes, he resigned himself to the fact that she, being the older one between them (and likely the more experienced senshi) probably knew what she was talking about. Admittedly he was rather curious about these adults that would really hurt a child, but he decided against asking any more questions. Mostly because he didn't want to keep getting told that his thinking was wrong.
"I've never met anyone in the Negaverse..." he said at the ground, then shuffled his feet a bit. "But I've run into youma before and they're gross. I'll try and remember for the future." Urda looked up carefully after mumbling a quick thanks, red eyes almost puppy-like.
"Um. I'm Urda, by the way. If I learn more about these Negaverse people can I still be a senshi?"
He fully intended to keep powering up as a senshi, even if it meant getting a little scolded for treating it like a game. It seemed like it most of the time; hardly anything happened whenever he went out to play make-believe with things in alleys (that his mom would probably kill him for doing if she actually knew).

Perdita would hate to admit that she wasn't as experienced as she pretended to be. Most of what she knew came from distant observation and things she'd heard from other people, mainly Oberon. Her personal experiences with the Negaverse had been limited so far.
“I've run into a General before,” she said self-importantly. She looked pleased with herself, even though a Chibi Senshi running into a Negaverse General was nothing to be so pleased about.
“Trust me, it would be better if you avoided them. They have dangerous weapons and they can teleport from one place to another. That's what the General did when I saw him. He teleported with me and one of my friends.
“We barely got out of it alive,” she finished severely.
That wasn't entirely true. Aside from a few threats, the General hadn't done anything to harm either one of them, but in the interest of making things seem as serious as they often were, Perdita thought a little exaggeration was warranted.
“I'm Perdita,” she replied, “and you can be a Senshi whether you learn about the Negaverse or not. You're already one, aren't you? No one can make you not one now that you are.”

The way she talked reminded him a little of this one girl in his class, who always had something to say about everything. Even their tones were similar. He didn't think anything badly of the girl, though, and this time if anything he did feel a bit grateful that someone was offering him so much information. He sighed a little as Perdita explained, and nodded along at each of her pauses as if it was what he ought to have been doing. In the very back of his mind, though, he couldn't help but be in awe of this teleportation thing that these Negaverse could do. Really, how cool would that be?
His lips had spread into a small smile until she said that she and her friend had barely gotten out of that situation alive. At that point the smile fell and the chibi senshi gulped.
Her introduction and response to his question had only garnered her a small nod in acknowledgement. Clearly young Urda was too preoccupied with the imagery floating around in his mind.
"Jimmy Lemons once said that teleporting could end up with someone being turned inside out," he said while making a face that was a mix of concern and disgust. One could only imagine what was going through his mind. "Was that why it was so dangerous? Because he took two people who couldn't teleport along with him when he did?" xSunshine Alouette I haven't forgotten about this, I swear! ;;
