Belvah groaned. Something horrid had happened to Laisidhiel, she could feel it deep in her soul. But there was something a bit more going on here. She was on the ground when she'd been standing only a moment prior. Oh no. Horror filled her from her hooves up, something might have happened to her precious children.

Terrified green eyes turned downward, hoping to Laisidhiel that the little ones she had been protecting were safe. There wasn't... Well there was blood on her stomach now, but there hadn't been whens he looked. Did that mean she was bleeding somewhere? A trembling hand reached towards her swollen stomach, a small amount of hope, wishing that her precious little ones were alright. It had been such a trial to get this far, she wouldn't be able to live through it if something happened to them now.

And then, a kick. A terribly violent kick, but a kick. They were alive! Oh thank all that was holy, they were alive! With a silent breath of relief, Belvah let out an unholy scream. Something was terribly wrong with so many things. Whatever was happening to sweet and loving Laisidhiel, and her own inability to get up and move from wherever she was... She only hoped there were faun near enough to hear her. Laisidhiel be blessed, there was something wrong with her head. Vision was fading in and out, everything was blurry when she could see. Belvah needed help, if only for the little ones she fought so hard to keep, to protect....

It was all fading when another violent kick brought her back to reality. Her little ones needed her. Or clearly they were unhappy that she was letting the world around them fade out, they wouldn't be kicking her so hard if they weren't... "H-help!" She whimpered, pain shooting up her spine. Surely she would be okay, but the babies... Someone help her babies...

Mama Blues had become a bit disconnected to life at the Tree since leaving it to raise her children with Xanthous. She hadn't been there long, but every now and again she could feel its tug on her- calling her close again. Most days she pushed it away, instead giving her all to her twin daughters. Others, she'd stare off in its direction wondering what it was calling her to.

Finally she decided to answer that call. Her girls were getting to an age where they were becoming more and more interested in the world outside their little home. Sonata seemed especially curious in the stories Mama Blues would tell about the Tree and she supposed it was about time to take her there to experience it for herself. Though the child couldn't say so, the excitement shone in her eyes at the thought of the journey. Not only would they be seeing the tree, but Mama Blues hoped to let her stay a few nights there in order to really meet some of the others.

The journey took a bit of time, what with Sonata wanting to stop and look at about everything they passed. Thankfully Mama Blues had prepared knowing it would happen and gladly pointed things out to the silent child. It was such a blessing being able to be a mother. To experience life through the eyes of someone young and inspired by everything they came in contact with. It brought a smile to Mama Blue's face that didn't leave the whole way to the Tree... At least till they got close.

Something rumbled loudly in the distance and before Mama Blues knew it the sky over their destination was filling up with smoke. Without a second thought she beckoned Sonata to hurry and they raced towards the tree. She had a terrible feeling in her gut that was a mix of what she saw and heard as well as something else... As if she was sharing the pain of something hurt.

By the time they actually made it to the tree, many survivors had been drugged away or out of the tree. They laid sprawled across the ground and made walking a chore. Mama Blues stared horrified at the scene, but it didn't stop her from wanting to do something so she headed directly into the tree injured. They would need all the hands they could get.

Sonata stared at the scene around her. The joy and excitement she had felt moments ago was long gone and instead dread sat heavy on her heart. What had happened here? Who would want to hurt anyone in such a way? She could feel the tears pricking at the back of her eyes as she took it all in. This was hard for her and she felt scared. She looked up and saw her mom heading into the tree. She stumbled after her, hacking at the particles in the air that were attempting to slip into her lungs. She wasn't as fast or sure on her legs like her mom was, so it took a lot out of her trying to push past Pae and overturned objects alike. It was one of those times she wished so desperately to be able to call out to her mom, 'Wait up! Wait for me. I'm scared don't leave me behind...'

Mama Blues only halted her charge when she heard a weak 'H-help' come from behind what looked to be a door, as well as a mess of other branches and ruble. She gripped the frame and by leveling herself she shoved it away from her and the voice, opening up a passage for her to squeeze into, “Hullo!?” she called, pushing her frame through into the opening. It wasn't hard to find the source of the voice once she had made it in. In an instant she was at the Faun's side looking her over, “Can ya hear me, dear?” she asked, her accent heavy with worry. “Let me know ya can hear me.”

Her eyes began to look her over for surface issues. The immediate issue was the head wound she had acquired, it was spilling out blood everywhere making it hard to know if she was bleeding from just that or any other places. As she turned to find something to stop it Sonata stumbled into the space. “Ah! Honey, I am so sorry!” Mama Blues said seeing the wild eyed child standing there panting. “But I need ya to tear me a parta that cloth there.” she said, pointing her in the direction. Sonata began working it out from under some ruble while Mama Blues went back to her assessment.

Her eyes landed on the female's stomach. Not only did it have blood but it was largely swollen. Mama Blue's heart ache for her and the sweet package she was carrying. Her thoughts were interrupted when a small hand held out a cloth to her. “Thank ya, sweetheart.” she whispered, taking the cloth from Sonata's hand and pressed it against the female's head. She wasn't a healer, didn't have any training like that, but one thing she knew was needing to stop this bleeding. “Ya got a nasty cut on yer head, hun.” she said to the injured female in a calm voice in hopes to inform but not scare. “But imma sure we will get it taken care of.”

Belvah groaned, trying to keep the little ones she was carrying away from further harm. She almost batted off a blue hand when it came into view, but it was followed by a friendly and very worried voice telling her she had a head wound. That meant she was loosing blood the babies needed. Panic surged through her as she realized she could be damaging her precious babies.

"Please... My b-bab-babies..." Belvah whimpered, ashamed of herself for being so weak, but the babies needed help. "Please help them" She looked to the faun... Fauny who was helping her. She spotted a bit of sparkling gold before the blinding pain cut through. The pressure on her head felt like it was radiating everywhere, from her legs up to her head. There was no way she was going to loose her babies like this. The pain was too much though, Belvah couldn't hold back the scream that had been threatening to escape for the last several moments.

The silvery fauness curled in on herself, clutching at the precious swelling in her abdomen. "Nnnnn!" She groaned, relaxing after a bit. By then, the entire cloth that had been pressed to her forehead had soaked through.

Mama Blues heart broke at the sound of the female's pain. It radiated in her voice, but it wasn't the pain from her injury. She was so afraid for her little ones... Mama understood the feeling. Understood how that tiny little one could be your whole world and your only thought- even above yourself. She shot her own daughter a look out of the side of her eyes before looking down to the swollen belly.

She reached out and pressed her free hand against it, feeling the quivering and kicks. They were active, that was a reassuring sign, "I feel 'em, they're in there kick'n around-" her statement was cut off by the female's cry. She moved away from the hand that Mama Blue's had pressed on the cut in order for her to curl in on herself. She noticed that it was completely soaked. There was more to this then she initially thought...

"Sona." she looked to her daughter, the young female perking up instantly. "I need ya to find cloth, lossa it, as well as any water ya possibly can. It'll take ya a few trips, I understand, but as soon as ya do you're gonna need tah help me..." she laid a hand on her shoulder looking at her gravely, "Be a brave girl 'right. Don't let anythi'n here scare ya. You gotta do what ya can tah help her, none this blood or scream'n will scare ya away from that, k?"

Sona nodded firmly. She had been feeling queasy with all the blood and was glad to get up and get out of there, but her mother's words stuck with her. As much as she hated the blood she'd need to help her. She took a deep breath and marched down the Tree's passage bent on doing the very best she could for the beautiful silvery Faun.

Mama Blues leaned back behind her and tore the rest of the cloth from under the ruble that Sona wasn't able to recover. She pressed it again against the female's forehead, "Honey," she spoke gently like a mother trying to comfort her from her fears, "What are ya feeling? Just 'round yer stomach, hun." she paused to give her a moment to take those words in. "Does it feel like the chill'ns are fight'n in there?" Oh please don't let it be so...

Belvah winced, relaxing a little. Fortunately, the bleeding on her head was slowing now that she wasn't straining herself through the pain. It was both a good and bad thing. Not that Belvah really cared about it so much, she was just worried about the little ones inside of her.

The voice... She barely heard it, but it was there. "Fighting?" She squinted, trying to figure out what this feeling was. It was all so new to her, it was also something she probably wouldn't get the chance to do again... "They want out don't they?" Emerald eyes turned upwards, hoping that whomever it was helping her knew what they were doing.

It was about then she realized this was one of the female fauny. Laisidhiel be blessed, this was a blessing. This fauny probably knew a lot more about what was going on than she did. "Help... I need t... I need to" Oh no, it was time. How could it be time for her babies to enter the world when she could barely breathe? This was terrible timing, but they needed out! Panicking once more she squirmed until another terrible bout of pain started. "Nnnngh!" Belvah groaned, trying not to clutch anything.

Mama Blues hoped she would understand what she meant, from her look she assumed the female was working out the question best she could. Relief filled her at her reply, nodding down at her, "Yes, honey, they certainly do." She gently brushed a few strands of hair out of her face like she would do to her own daughters in order to comfort them. The poor dear, this was no condition to be going into labor, but she was glad at least she understood what was happening... and perhaps what was to come.

Before Mama Blues could explain anything else another roll of pain hit the female, "Hold on!" Mama Blues exclaimed, grabbing her hand in a firm but reassuring grip. She looked her over realizing this spot would just have to do- she looked in no condition to be moved. "Iff'n those pains start hitt'n ya faster we're gonna have tah start pushing, sweetie. These chilli'ns wanna see their Momma!" she used a clean side of the cloth to dab away some of the sweat that was appearing on the female's forehead. "Ya let me know and I'll help lift ya, we're gonna do all we can fer ya!"

It seemed like forever, but Sona finally made it back with a tower of assorted blankets and cloths. She dumped them on the ground by her Mom feeling proud of the amount and slightly ashamed of herself. She felt bad taking these from other's personal rooms, but they would understand right? One of their own needed help! Her Mom thanked her quietly and began to stuff a few of them under the female in order to cushion where she was laying, but set a certain number of them off to the side. When Sona lingered her Mom looked up at her, "Water, Sona, please hurry!" there was urgency in her voice that shot Sona right out the door. Was this really happening!?

The babies wanted out.. They wanted out! Belvah had a moment of excitement before she realized she had no idea what to expect. The only thing she knew was pain. A lot of pain that she wasn't sure she could handle. But it was for the little ones she'd been fighting so hard to keep. Surely it was only a moment before she realized there was still a faun that cared enough to help her. With all the awkward glances and the whispers, Belvah couldn't believe there was someone who cared enough to help the babies...

"Tha-thank you." Belvah tried to sound sincere. And she was, but with the agony and the blood loss, she sounded weak and tired. And the little gold one was back, if only for a moment. Was the little gold one this kind faun's daughter? "A-ah!" She squealed, something was wrong with her back too, but there was something being shoved under it. The silvery faun would put up with it so long as it helped the babies. Maybe it was the movement, or maybe it was just time for another contraction, but Belvah grit her teeth and grunted in pain once more. Thankfully she was a little more prepared for the pain this time, whatever it was that was cushioning her was about to get ripped to shreds.

"Nngh!" It was quicker than the previous times, and sooner than before if Mama Blues had been counting.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 22, 2015 5:41 pm

Mama Blues smiled down at at her, "You're welcome, sweetie." Hearing her voice so quiet and weak, Mama wondered how this would go through for her. Sure, they were a hearty species, but with how much blood she had already lost... She worried for the other's life as well as her children.

"What is ya name, dear?" she asked as she did her best to not jostle her too much. She didn't want her laying on the hard ground, but knew the pain it was causing as well. She said a soft sorry before Sona appeared again. This time she had a jug that was almost as big as she was filled with water. Mama's heart soared at the sight. Her daughter had done such a good job! She motioned for the young one to set it down by the female's feet before pulling her towards her head. "Sit with her, 'right?"

As her mom moved, Sona slipped to sit where she had been moments before. She glanced up at her in worry when she moved the female's head to lay on her lap, "You'll be ok. Gotta care fer the head. Now hold 'er hand." she gave the Female's hand over to her daughter, "She's gonna need ya to be strong fer 'er. Let 'er squeeze as much as she needs, yes?" Sona nodded hard. She was ready to help however she could. As her mom moved to sit towards the lower end and run her hands over the female's body checking for whatever Sona didn't know, she looked at the soon to be mother's face. She was startlingly beautiful behind the pained faces she was making and sweat. She hoped her mom would be able to help her...

Mama Blues' head snapped up as the next wave of pain hit, "Breathe, sweetie, breeeeeathe, you're getting there quick now. Almost time to push... Then it''ll be all over and you'll be hold'n them!" As she attempted to soothe her with gentle words, she began to pull her resources close and get into a comfortable position. Her glance turned towards Sona. Her daughter was about to be in for a surprise...

"B-Be-Belvah" She managed, teeth gritted through the moving. It was all for the babies. All for the babies. "Y-yours?" the silvery one asked, trying to keep her mind off what was happening. It almost worked, she could ignore the pain if she thought about other things. The smoke in the room, whatever it was that was making her throat itchy as she inhaled each painful breath, how soon she'd be holding the precious little ones.

Her head was lifted, and of course Belvah couldn't have been much more grateful than she was. It was far more comfortable like this than she had been moments prior. Maybe this was all for the little ones. Her eyes squeezed shut for a moment, trying to breathe. It was almost done. Panting, she opened her pained emerald eyes. Ah, the little golden one. It was then that Belvah realized how small the little one was. And then she cracked up. Silver and gold. The fauness couldn't help it. This little golden girl probably had no idea how beautiful she was herself. "You're so pretty~"

Something tickled the back of her mind once she heard that name. She was sure she had heard it from her short lived time at the tree- she shook her head shaking out the thought. Now wasn't the time. She had to focus on Belvah, keep her spirit up. Oh how she wished she had her singing voice back...

"Names Fortissimo, but please call me Mama Blues or Mama iff'n your comfortable with that." she nodded towards Sona, "Thiss'n my daughter Sonata- Sona is what we like tah call her." she smiled at her daughter nodding her a reassurance that she was doing well. "So as ya can see I have been where ya are." She decided to not include the fact that she hadn't been on the other side of things, but she knew they'd manage... They had to.

Sona nodded her greeting to the stranger. Belvah. What an interesting name, she wondered what it meant... Her thoughts stopped short when she looked up at her, Sona blinking down at her in return. She wasn't sure what to make of Belvah's weak laughter, sending her mom a glance before looking back at her when she spoke.

Belvah's words caused Sona's face to flash red in an instant. She grinned largely and shot her mom a look before gesturing towards her shyly. Mama Blues chuckled softly, "Sona wants ya tah know she's very grateful for the kind words and she thinks your hair is..." she paused watching her daughter gesture again, "Ah, she says lovely." Mama paused for a moment seeing the dark look come over her daughters face, "She can't say so for herself... she's mute that is."

Sona looked away for once feeling self conscious of her situation. Never before had she had to hear someone say it. As long as she had been alive it had just been her and her family, and they all knew and understood the language of gestures they had made up for her. She knew there really wasn't anything to be ashamed of, it was just an emotion after all...

Mama Blues quickly changed the subject knowing her daughter was having an internal battle that didn't need to happen right then. They had babies to focus on.. "Sona, give Belvah a drink." she handed the young one a wet rag. She watched as the golden girl carefully held Belvah's head up to allow her to suck some of the liquid from the rag- this way she didn't intake too much. Mama's heart swelled with pride at how natural this young one seemed to be taking this on before setting her sights back to Belvah waiting for the next wave...

Belvah hadn't quite made it through all the introductions without the shooting pain. At least Mama Blues was talking, it seemed to help to concentrate on something other than the babies wanting out. After the wave of pain passed, the silvery faun smiled. Sona was a sweetie helping out a faun she didn't know, and Mama Blues was just as well.

"N-nice to meet you." She rasped, only to be offered water. Blessed Earth this woman knew what she was doing. The silvery faun accepted the water gratefully. Once she was settled back into Sona's lap though, Belvah reached a shaky hand up to the young girl. Smiling again, the soon to be mother patted Sona wherever she was reaching. "Never change who you are. You are special Sona." What else cold she say, this young girl made her think of the daughter she hoped to have one day. And then another bout of the shooting pains. This time it was the breathing. Breathe, breathe, breathe...

Mama Blues was glad for the mild distraction in conversation. Her nerves were on edge, but she was doing her best to keep the quivering from entering her voice. May the earth give her strength because she was certainly going to need it! This woman was brave to trust someone like her!

Sona's eyes stared down huge at Belvah, mouth opening and closing in response. She so much wanted to be able to answer her kind words! Her face flushed and all she could do was bow her head in thankfulness and touch the other's hand gently. Oh how much she hoped this nice lady would be ok and that her pains would go away-

"That's a good one! Push, Belvah!"

Sona's head shot towards her mom at the words. What? It was happening now!? What was she suppose to do!? She gripped Belvah's hand tight and willed with all her might that she'd be ok. That this would pass over quick and easy...

Mama Blues knew how weak Belvah was at this point, so she reached across her and helped lift her up off the ground. She couldn't well push for her, but she could do everything in her power to help. They needed this to go as quick for the new mother as possible before she grew too tired...

"Ya ready? Because they sure are! They're ready tah meet ya, dear! Now puuuush ok, ok, and breeeeeathe...."

Belvah winced, trying to prepare herself for whatever this part was. There was no way around it, it was an emergency. For the health of the little ones that Rais had helped give her.

"Aaaah!" She bit back the scream as much as she could, but it still hurt like a son of a gun. The silvery fauness listened to everything Mama Blues told her, acting when she could. The little ones needed her to be strong, so she would be....

Mama Blues had a sheen of sweat on her body, and held a small bundle in shaking arms. There was so much emotional build up in her body that she couldn't help it- concern and relief were finally flooding out of her and allowing complete joy to settle in. She had been worried many times during the event if Belvah was strong enough, but the new Mom had certainly proven herself. This was the sweetest moment that any mother could experience. She looked up towards Sona and held the bundle out to her, "Let the new Mama see her chill'n."

Sona was sitting wild eyed, her whole frame visibly shaking. She had never seen nor heard anyone in so much pain or seen so much.... She had a hard time keeping herself composed through it- and whatever meal she had had in her stomach. But she had done what her mother had asked of her and held Belvah's hand tight and dabbed away at her face trying to bring whatever silent encouragement she could offer.

She just stared at her Mom for a moment when she was offered the bundle. She was absolutely terrified. Not of the child, but attempting to carry such a small bundle. What if she dropped it? What if it didn't like her. She didn't have a choice as her mother pushed it into her arms. Sona opened her mouth as if to make a concerned noise, but it instantly slammed shut at the sight in her arms. Her heart swelled with warmth and an overwhelming emotion she couldn't explain. How could something be so perfect?

She turned towards Belvah and as careful as she could she pressed the bundle into her arms. She didn't wanna let it go, the face was so sweet she couldn't take her eyes off of it, but she knew without being told this was an even bigger deal for Belvah.

Mama Blues smiled broadly at Belvah as Sona handed over the baby, "Gotta name fer ya new son, Belvah, dear? Congratulations."

She had only been able to remain calm through the ordeal because of the two kind souls helping her through it. The thought that her little one would be safe had kept quite a bit of the pain off her mind. The silvery mare gave a weak smile to Mama Blues as her baby was handed to Sona. That poor girl needed to see the baby just as much as Belvah did right then.

"Thank you... Thank you" she babbled, unable to truly express just how grateful she was that they'd helped her bring the most precious thing into the world. And then the word son was uttered. Her eyes grew wide, almost as panicked as she had been when she realized she was going into labor. Oh my, she'd had a little boy. Of all the names she'd been thinking of, only one was for a little boy.

"Valere..." Well drat, they needed to get out of the tree. Immediately. This air couldn't have been good for any of the faun sitting in there. Things had settled down at least a little, there wasn't as much stuff falling all around or on them anymore. She counted that a small blessing. "Sweet little Valere. You will be a strong man one day." Belvah smiled at him before returning her gaze to Mama Blues.

"Mama Blues, we need to get Valere and Sona out of here. Whatever we've been breathing in can't be good for any of us here." Perhaps it was the easiest way to remind Mama that she had her own child to worry about, but Belvah was certain she would worry about the little golden girl that had been so very brave with her.
